Excerpt: The Pursuit of God, The Human Thirst for the Divine, A.W. Tozer

O God, I have tasted Thy goodness, and it has both satisfied me and made me thirsty for more. I am painfully conscious of my need of further grace. I am ashamed of my lack of desire. O God, The Triune God, I want to want Thee; I long to be filled with longing; I thirst to be made more thirsty still. Show me Thy glory, I pray Thee, that so I may know Thee indeed. Begin in mercy a new work of love within me. Say to my soul, "Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away." Then give me grace to rise and follow Thee up from this misty lowland where I have wondered so long. In Jesus' name. Amen

I bought some soil and flowers yesterday at Lowes. They didn't have a very good variety! But I took a picture of them today. They are also planted on the other side of the little porch you see here.

I used Sophia Davies' "Promise" kit. You can find it HERE.

April 29, 2009

After our walk this morning, I wanted to take some pictures. So, the only way to get a picture of Tim and myself together was to have him take one of me and I took one of him then I photoshopped him into the picture! Turned out pretty good, don't you think?

I used the March bonus Mega Kit from Digitals challenges in March, Fresh Elegance. It is on sale now in the store. Click on the picture to go to the kit in the store.

April 28, 2009

Snakes give me the creeps, big time! I can't really say that I am afraid of them, I just know that I have a very healthy respect for them! I just don't like something that slithers around very quietly. Come to think of it, that's pretty much what Satan does, isn't it? He doesn't show up on our door step in a red suit with horns and a pitch fork, and then ring the door bell so that when we answer he warns us that he is there and to watch out for him! The Bible rightly calls him the old serpent, doesn't it?!

Anyway, I made this page using the elements from the Fresh Elegance Mega Collaborative Kit by the Digitals designers. It was the free kit that was given out piece by piece as the challenges were completed during the month of March. You can buy the HUGE kit HERE. The pieces of the kit that I used were all made by Katey Green of Handmaid Designs. It is too late to begin the April challenges, but if you would like to join in beginning on May 1st, go to this THREAD. You have to be a registered member to have access to the forum and the gallery for posting your layouts, but it is free!

DH was going to wash his car today and as bad as I hated to, I decided mine needed it really badly, too! So, we washed them together. I even armor-alled the inside and washed the windows! However, it still needs to be swept out! Another day, perhaps! :)

The kit used: "Promise" by Sophia Davies. Click on the page to be taken to the store where the kit is currently on sale!

It has been unseasonably (at least what I am used to) warm here the last couple of days! Today when I looked at the thermometer hanging out by our back door, I knew either I am reading it incorrectly or it is just dead wrong! So I looked up the current temperature on the internet and confirmed that it was a whole lot warmer than what our thermometer was reading!

I used Kathryn Estry's kit, Fairy Kisses found HERE. I thought the swirlies on the paper reminded me of heat waves, which is why I used it!

We now have a dummy living in our house. His name is Joey. DH is going to teach himself the art of ventriloquism and use Joey in VBS this summer!

I used my new kit, Sugar and Spice found on my Today's Scrap blog.

April 24, 2009

I love these little yellow flowers that grow in the yard! I decided to get a different perspective of them today! The sky was beautiful and the sun was shining! What beauty God has given us to enjoy!

The kit I used is from Alessandra Designs, Ethereal Fantasy. I love the colors, and love the elements! You can find her kit HERE.

April 23, 2009

I was walking across the yard when my attention was drawn to all of the little yellow flowers that were blooming! How pretty! Even the dandelions are pretty and very intricate when you view them up close and personal-like!

I used my new kit, Sugar and Spice, to create the page. The yellow background was the perfect setting for the little flowers, don't you think?!

Click on the page to be taken to my Today's Scrap blog and you can download this kit for free!

April 22, 2009

We are going to begin a visitation ministry at the church following Revival services this week, so DH and I rode up and down the neighboring streets counting houses. Then I put together packets of church brochures and a tract to correspond with the number of houses on the street. Each person who helps will take a packet and travel to the street to distribute the brochure and tract. We want to contact 1000 homes. Our count totals (give or take a few we may have missed) 1,024!

I know! This one is really bright! I love the background paper that I created from a photo of one of my skirts! Each little "block" is made up of 4 copies of the picture rotated to give it the Kaleidoscope feel! Then, the 256 little blocks are recolored by a blending method in my PSE program. And, VOILA! The masterpiece!

Anyway, unless you happen to have Photoshop Elements and work with it much, you probably don't know (or care) about what I just said!

And, you don't need to! You can just click on the picture and go to my blog to download the kit for free! If you create a page using my new Sugar and Spice kit, I'd love to post it on my Today's Scrap blog!

April 21, 2009

Between going to Florida, Liz and the kids spending a week and everything else, I didn't do an April bulletin board. DH asked me to take time to get one for May, so I decided with Revival services going on this week and the plan of eating in the fellowship hall on Sunday with afternoon services following, that I should just do one that would fit both April and May. Here is what I came up with.

I made the page with my new kit, Sugar and Spice, which is actually supposed to be a kit for little girls (baby girls is actually what the challenge at Brownie Scraps was for), but I am finding out that it is very versatile! Click on the page and you will be taken to my blog where you can get the kit for free!

April 20, 2009

This is some jewelry that my DH bought for me several years ago when we went to Little Nashville with a couple from the church we pastored in WV. I love the set, but the earrings are clip on earrings that hurt like crazy, so I don't wear the set very often! I really just need to find a jeweler that would be willing to take the clip part off and make these into pierced earrings for me by adding a post to the back. They are pretty heavy, so I don't know for sure that this would work! But, I guess it would be nothing lost, since I really can't wear them much anyway!

The page is made with my new kit, Sugar and Spice. Click on the page to go to my blog where you can get it for free!

April 19, 2009

Well, the new assignment for the designing class I'm taking at Brownie Scraps in the Private Designer Challenge Thread, is a good one! But, I'm gonna have to work like mad to get it done by Wednesday. Why? Because our Spring Revival starts then! And I am hoping by getting it done at that time I'll be able to concentrate on the monthly challenges at my beloved Digital Scrapbook Pages!

Anyway, our challenge this week was to focus on the elements, very unique elements. And to create a preview to capture the "buyer." I don't know if I accomplished the 2nd part or not, but I do have lots of unique elements! Even 3 rubber bands!

This page was created with my new kit (which I did complete by Wednesday, btw) and as you realize by now, I'm sure, this post is after the fact! You can get this kit for free at my Today's Scrap blog.

This page is for my Hannah Banana, who planted a sunflower seed in my flower garden with hopes of it growing. I told her I would keep it watered!

I used Alessandra's "Ethereal Fantasy" kit again found HERE.

April 17, 2009

OK, I am missing Liz and the kids! It was wonderful having them here for the week! I sure hated to see them leave! But, all good things come to an end eventually, for the most part! I spent the day busily doing laundry, making beds, sweeping all the floors, dusting, and just putting the house back to the way it was before the little munchkins arrived! Putting away all of the toys again made me sad! Anyway, life goes on! Liz and I voiced our wishes of living closer together, but if that is ever to be again, the Lord will have to work it out! I sure miss being right down the street from her and the kids and I miss their being able to spend the night on the weekends!

Anyway, this page: My NEWest kit, Family Love. Free for you by clicking on the layout below. You can see a preview of the kit on my Today's Scrap blog HERE.

April 16, 2009

The weather today was kind of chilly, but the sun was shining! Enough so that we all got a little sunburn while at the zoo in Asheboro, NC. One of the guys I worked with at Amos plant in WV told me about this zoo. He raved about how great it was. It was OK. Some of the displays were under maintenance, so we didn't get to see the animals (polar bears, for one). It was pretty crowded, too! And, the line for the tram to get back to the beginning was so long, we decided to hoof it back......up hill basically all the way! WOOHOO! What a trip that was pushing 2 sleeping kids! But, I needed the exercise, anyway! Boy, my calves are sore now, though! But, back to the opinions of the zoo......for the price, well worth the money! We were there about 6 hours and the kids did really well! It kept them entertained the whole way!

So, those of you who are our friends, take it from me, when you go to Myrtle Beach this year, make a stop at this zoo! It is an hour from our house! Talk to me about it!

First things first.....Hope you had a happy birthday, Brad!

So, Liz and I took Brad's kids to the park today. It was sunny and turned out to be pretty nice! The wind was a bit chilly, but not unbearable! This park we went to was a suggestion by our church members. Tom-A-Lex Park in Lexington and about 15 minutes from the house. It has a very nice playground, picnic area, and a huge fishing lake! I think we will probably be coming back when the guys visit!

This page: Alessandra Designs, "Ethereal Fantasy" and found HERE.

April 14, 2009

Liz, the kids and I went shopping today. And, kids can only take so much shopping without having some sort of diversion along the way! And, today that diversion was these little rides in the little mall we went to. But, even the diversion didn't satisfy for very long! When it is nap time, you just gotta give it up, say goodbye to the shopping and go home!

April 13, 2009

Today was supposed to be our zoo day, but the weather forecast was not to promising with 80% chance of rain! So, we decided to stay close instead of making the 1 hour trip to Asheboro. We went to SciWorks about 20 minutes away and north of us. It was a bit chilly when we first got there at around 10:30 a.m. Plus, it was very overcast and looked as if it could rain any minute. So, the first thing we did was to see the animals outside. We saw the cows, goats, sheep, ponies and donkey in the barn. Then we took a paved trail around the property and saw Canada geese and mallard ducks, deer and otter. I took this great picture of Liz and the kids before we headed indoors for the learning exhibits, etc. It was lots of fun for the kids. We didn't get home til 1:00 or a little after. We ate lunch, then took naps and then did a little shopping at the thrift store before we met Tim at Pizza Hut for dinner. Then we rushed home to get ready for the Assisted Living Services. Hannah went with us. She was very shy since she did not know any of these older folks. And, she really enjoyed the ladies from our church who played their auto harps and sang.

I didn't want to distract too much from the great picture of Liz and the kids, so I only used a few items from Amanda Thorderson's "The Front Porch" kit found HERE. The kit is on sale for a limited time.

April 12, 2009

Our oldest daughter and her son left yesterday afternoon for home. They arrived at our son-in-law's home in WV around 11 p.m. After dropping him off, they still had a 2 1/2 hour drive to their home in OH. It was great to spend time with them, even tho the time was short! Our youngest daughter is still with us for the week. We have lots of activities planned, as long as the weather cooperates! But for today, Sunday is for hangin' out and relaxing. And, that is just what papaw and the grandkids are doing before having to get ready to go back to church in the evening.

I used Amanda Thorderson's "The Front Porch" kit to make this page. You can find her kit HERE. It is on sale for a limited time, so hurry over to her store and check it out!

April 11, 2009

We certainly had a busy day today. You can read about alot of it on the layout below. But, the activity didn't stop there! After lunch, we all (except papaw) headed outside to play, as it was just a beautiful day! It would have been hot in the sun if it had not been for a wonderful breeze! But, if you were in the shade, the breeze was a bit chilly! Little Ryan ended up with rosy cheeks and ears from the sun! They fussed at bed time last night, but not tonight! Hannah woke up at 6:30 and started talking, which woke Ryan, which meant mommy had to get up! After being outside all afternoon, with no naps, they died when their heads finally settled down on the pillows! Mommy followed about an hour later!

I know one thing, I will not be able to move tomorrow morning! Besides pushing Ryan and Hannah on the swing, the adults (except for Liz) and Michael tossed a soft ball! My arm will be sore from that as I can already "feel" the pain! LOL! It is such a "pain" getting old! :)

Anyway, I used my new kit, "Tropical Paradise" to do this page. You can find the kit to download on my Today's Scrap blog.

Have a happy and blessed Easter tomorrow!

Our daughters and grandkids came for a visit this weekend! Michael and Hannah did not have school because of it being Good Friday. So they came to see Grandma and Grandpa!

This page was created using my new "Tropical Paradise" kit. It is free for you to download Go over to my Today's Scrap blog for the link! Enjoy the kit! If you use it, please send me the layout! I would love to post it on my blog!

A New Freebie for You!

YES! It's finished! The kit from my second week of design classes at Brownie Scraps is finished! The challenge this week was the elements. The assignment was to use the program of choice (for me the only option is PSE 6) and with the supplied features create unique elements, besides taking pictures of elements and doing extractions to create elements. I have lots of both in this kit! And I feel like they turned out pretty nice! I hope you agree!

You can download the kit for free at my designing blog, Today's Scrap. If you do, I would appreciate a comment! Even if you don't, I would enjoy your input!

April 9, 2009

Well, today certainly was an eventful day! With the girls coming for the weekend, I had to work on my new kit "Tropical Paradise" and get it finished because I know I won't be working on the computer too much this weekend and into next week! So, I still have to make the preview and get the files zipped up and uploaded to Media Fire and then I'll be done! I worked on the kit til time to get dinner ready. After dinner, we went to the funeral home for a viewing of an Aunt of one of our members. On the way back we received a call that the former pastor had been taken to the emergency room, so instead of going home we went to the hospital where we spent about an hour and a half. Then, upon arriving home, I had to finish up our pastor friend's bulletin for this Sunday! Then I had to upload yesterday's and today's 365 layouts to my Digitals Gallery! And, now I have them posted here! WHEW! Can you say, Geritol! LOL! I'm glad I got the dishes loaded into the dishwasher before we left, anyway!

Oh, and something else that happened today.....Tim comes walking into the house with a stranger this morning and tells me he is going to give him some food. So I said, OK. Well, what he really meant was that he was going to fix him breakfast! He started getting the eggs and sausage out of the fridge. Then I woke up and took the eggs from him and fixed the breakfast for the guy. This stranger said he had hitch hiked all the way from Miami, FL! He said he was on his way to his dad's house in Welcome. Why he was walking on S. Main St. in Winston-Salem, I have no idea! Anyway, he announced to me, "Guess what just happened to me? I got saved! Now, what do you think about that?" I said, of course, "I think that is terrific!" So, apparently Tim had talked to him at church before he brought him over to the house. Anyway, we fed him breakfast and he slept for a couple of hours in the guest room and then he was on his way! I sure hope and pray that he finds his way to wherever he is going. And the reason I say this is because it just so happens that we saw him as we were coming back from the hospital tonight at 9:45 walking on Silas Creek, which is NOT anywhere near Welcome where he told us he was going!

Thank you, Lord, for your hand of mercy upon my life!

Today's page is another page using Alessandra's "Country Home" kit.

April 8, 2009

First of all, HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my baby brother, who turned 52 today! I love you Joey! Sorry, but you will always be Joey to me! :)

Well, today we were supposed to take a couple who are ministering in this area to breakfast. He sings and plays the guitar at Nursing Home facilities. However, today he has a very sore throat, so they re-scheduled breakfast for Friday. Since we were up and ready to go already, we decided to go anyway! Fine by me! That means IHOP twice in one week! YUMMY!

I used Alessandra's "Country Home" kit again. See previous post for links.

April 7, 2009

I guess most people use a bulletin board to post reminders for this and that. I use a bulletin board to post some of my favorite things, like current year calendars that include pictures of the grandkids for each month, hand made cards from the grandkids, pictures they have drawn, photo Christmas cards from friends and family, gifts such as a crocheted cross and a magical star wand from Disney World and other miscellaneous pictures and items. So, while I am working at my computer, I am surrounded by items that represent love and friendship!

I used Alessandra's "Country Home" kit to make this page. The links are in a previous post below if you are interested in checking out her store and her kits.

April 6, 2009

Well, once again I am caught up with my daily layout posts after getting behind due to DSL problems for #1 and designing my kit last week for #2. WHEW! It feels good to have them posted finally! The AT&T repair man who came to fix our DSL woes turned out to have the same last name as us! And I found out that he is a member of a Baptist church in our NC triad area! Thank you, Lord, for sending a Brother (and possibly a distant cousin of DH's??) to help with our internet modem problems!

I used my kit, "Time Began in the Garden" to make this page. You can download the kit for free if you visit my designing blog, Today's Scrap.

April 5, 2009

While shopping at Walmart, I found a couple of journals that I picked up to use for my "commonplace books." If you don't know what commonplace books are, google and see what wikipedia has to say about it. I learned about these fascinating "journals" from another blogger that I follow whose family our family is friends with. You can visit her blog HERE.

I used my kit "Time Began in the Garden" found on my Today's Scrap blog that you can download at the pleasant cost of $0.00!

April 4, 2009

Well, I am VERY excited to share with you a layout that I made using my very own kit that I designed! WOOHOO! And, I just LOVE the birdhouse with the ivy, even if I do say so myself! I have to say that I really struggled with the backgrounds for most of the week. Then the tutorial kind of clicked after reading and re-reading it! I don't have it down perfectly, but I am fairly pleased with the results! I especially like the yellow paper with the flower shown in this layout below. And I am very proud of the ribbons you see! They were a bear, but turned out very nice! Again, even if I do say so myself, I am pleased with the results of my first kit! Onward and upward!

If you would like to download this kit for free, see THIS POST at my designing blog, Today's Scrap.

April 3, 2009

YEAH! With my new washer and dryer installed this morning, I did laundry all day! I am very happy with the new appliances! The dryer even has a light inside that comes on when you open the door! Very cool! Thank you, Lord!

This page was created using Alessandra's "Country Home" kit. As you can see, it is very versatile and has lovely elements! See April 1st post for all links to kit, etc.

April 2, 2009

If you have been following this blog, you will remember that before we left for Florida on March 23rd our dryer decided to bite the dust! So, the first order of business when we got home from Florida was to buy another one. And, since the washer was equally as old as the dryer, the church men told us to go ahead and buy a matching washer to go along with the dryer! Well, I washed up all of the laundry from our Florida trip with the intentions of taking them to the laundromat to dry. But, when I found out that Lowe's could deliver the washer and dryer on the 3rd, I decided to try the trick my mother used when she needed to "hold" the drying process for awhile. I bagged the laundry up and stuck it in the spare refrigerator we brought with us from WV. If not for this extra fridge, I would have taken the clothes to the laundromat anyway. I'm sure you know what soured clothes smell like!

I used Alessandra's "Country Home" kit for this page, too! See April 1st post for all links to her store, kit, etc!

April 1, 2009

The more things change, the more things stay the same! How true this is with our youngest son who is definitely in a class all his own! But, he is the sweetest guy and would give you the shirt off of his back if he felt you needed it more than he did. We were able to spend a couple of days with him on our way back home from Florida, which is where he lives since he got married 2 days before we came to NC. I got a kick out of him when he offered to help his dad load the car for our trip back home and he slipped his "toes" into my flip flops. He used to slip them on like this when he was still home and needed to make a quick trip out to his car or something. Nat is 6'4" tall and has always had feet to match his height, even before he reached his height, lol! Now, I'm no shorty at 5'9" or 10" and my feet are plenty big for a woman, but they are no match for Nat's feet! It brought back pleasant memories from another time and another place! Thanks, Nat! I love you!

Now to give you some information about the elements in this page. Since it is April, I have received another CT assignment at Digitals. This month, I am proud to be working with Alessandra of Alessandra Designs. She does amazing work! (She is another designer that I would like to be like "when I grow up" in the digital designing field, lol!) Check out her store HERE. This page was done using her "Country Home" kit. Click on the name for all of her "Country Home" products or click on the layout to go directly to the kit in her store at Digitals.

A New Designing/Scrapping Blog

I know! I've been absent for way too long! My Project 365 pages are backing up, too! But, I've been designing a kit this week and I need your help!

I need a name for this kit. Please go to my Today's Scrap blog and leave me a comment on your suggestion(s) for a name. If I pick your suggestion, I will give you the kit free!

Thanks in advance! And, you can read more about my designing struggles on that blog, too!
Hugs!
