Excerpt: The Pursuit of God, The Human Thirst for the Divine, A.W. Tozer

O God, I have tasted Thy goodness, and it has both satisfied me and made me thirsty for more. I am painfully conscious of my need of further grace. I am ashamed of my lack of desire. O God, The Triune God, I want to want Thee; I long to be filled with longing; I thirst to be made more thirsty still. Show me Thy glory, I pray Thee, that so I may know Thee indeed. Begin in mercy a new work of love within me. Say to my soul, "Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away." Then give me grace to rise and follow Thee up from this misty lowland where I have wondered so long. In Jesus' name. Amen

Day 81 in the Year of Our Lord 2012

Not much to report today.  Being Wednesday, I finished up my Bible Club lesson with the print outs and craft.  And the usual day to day activities of making the bed, doing the dishes, fixing lunch and supper and computer work.

I do have a couple of pictures today, however.  Since Elisabeth was "unfortunate" enough to miss out on watching me wash dishes as she was growing up, I wanted to show her a sink full of dishes less the water and Dawn.

Liz, I didn't always have 4 dishwashers (Jessica, Michael, you and Nat) around to do my dishes for me.  Nor did I have the luxury of a mechanical dishwasher!  And, because I hate to stand a long time doing dishes by hand, to make it an easier and quicker process (especially if the dishes have not been done right after the meal and the food has dried on them) I fill the sink with the dishes, as shown in the picture's example.....plates on the bottom, silverware to the left, glasses closest to me and then as many dishes as possible stacked on top of the plates.....then fill the sink with all hot water and the dish detergent and let it all sit til the water cools enough to not burn my hands as I do the dishes.  Works like a charm every time!

And, depending on the mood I'm in, how much time I have, how many dishes there are, I may or may not wash them by hand.  I do still use the dishwasher from time to time.  But, I don't mind washing the few dishes that dad and I produce and it helps to save on water and electricity to wash them by hand instead of running the dishwasher.  I could rinse the dishes off and put them in the dishwasher until the machine is full and run it every couple of days, but if I'm going to rinse them, I might as well just go ahead and wash them!

So, I had another thought today while peeling my potatoes for our supper.  I have always used a veggie peeler to peel my potatoes.  Mom, however, used to peel her potatoes with a paring knife.  Kim does, too.  However, when I use a knife, I "peel" more potato away and end up having to peel more potatoes.  And the peeler seems to be quicker and safer.  That's my story and I'm sticking to it!  :D

Until tomorrow.....

Now the potatoes....I am in the same boat as you. Brad's mom and grandma both use a knife. I can't do it that way!

I use a peeler too! I also cut off more potato with a knife. Hate doing it that way! I'm really fast with the peeler too. As if that's a skill! lol
