Excerpt: The Pursuit of God, The Human Thirst for the Divine, A.W. Tozer

O God, I have tasted Thy goodness, and it has both satisfied me and made me thirsty for more. I am painfully conscious of my need of further grace. I am ashamed of my lack of desire. O God, The Triune God, I want to want Thee; I long to be filled with longing; I thirst to be made more thirsty still. Show me Thy glory, I pray Thee, that so I may know Thee indeed. Begin in mercy a new work of love within me. Say to my soul, "Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away." Then give me grace to rise and follow Thee up from this misty lowland where I have wondered so long. In Jesus' name. Amen

Round 2 of IL2, Day 2

I finally arrived at the hospital around 3. Here's what my day looked like before I got here:
Root canal from 8:15-8:50
Travel home 8:50-9:15
Internet and e-mail stuff til about 10:30
Eat brunch of scrambled eggs and butter-soaked toast
Go for groceries about 12:30 when mouth was "thawed"
Sun finally came out, so I worked on the church sign
Closed up shop, packed the suitcase with laptop and food (soup) to bring with me (I'd sure love to use the gift cards Sharon gave me, but it will have to wait on my tooth)
Took Medicaid some papers Tim signed last night.
The exit for the Medicaid office is 110B and the exit for the hospital is 109B, so that worked out nicely! I like easy!

I got here the same time as Dr. Stewart stopped by.  Tim has already put on alot of water weight with his first 3 doses, however, the Doctor listened to his lungs and gave the go ahead for the 4th dose at the regularly scheduled time of 4 p.m.

If you recall from one of the pictures I posted yesterday was one with 3 nurses attending to Tim.  Well, the one on the far left was a nurse from the trauma unit who is being trained to work in this unit now.  So, she is learning how to take care of IL2 patients.  Yesterday was her 2nd time to work with inserting the needles into the port.  She did the lateral one.  They had problems with that line being "sluggish" so they made sure the IL2 was infused using the medial port.  Well, the port started hurting Tim this morning around 6:30, so the nurses called the "port specialists" to check it out.  Come to find out, the lateral needle was not in the port any longer and was letting IV fluids go out into Tim's body.  By the time the "specialists" redid that line, Tim already had a pocket of fluid built up under his skin from the "loose" port line.

Tim wrapped up under the blankets and got warm before the midnight dose.  He decided that since he was already warm that he would try warding off the chills with his own body temperature.  Well, it wasn't the same as applying the heated blankets.  He was warm, but just barely warm enough.  The chills were just on the verge which was still uncomfortable.  So, back to the heated blankets!  I'm glad he didn't actually go into the full blown chills, however!

His appetite is already gone and his skin is pink.  Everything is happening quicker this time around!  That forbodes evil to me.  I am afraid that he will not be able to get as many doses!  Especially since he is adding water weight so quickly already, too!

Poor guy got no sleep last night, yet he gave me a nice smile when I got here.  It warmed up some outside, so I just wore a sweatshirt into the hospital.  When I opened the door to his room, the heat about knocked me down.  He has been cold.  He had kicked all the blankets off because he had gotten hot, so, thankfully he cranked the thermostat down some!  I am still hot and can tell my cheeks feel flushed!  I told him not to worry about me, it's about him, not me.

Here are the vitals as they were when I got here.

I could tell he wanted to try to get some more sleep, so I told him to shut the lights off.  I don't need the lights on to work on the computer.  He answers every text and phone call, however, so he maybe got 15 minutes of good sleep!  In between the alarms that kept going off when he would quit breathing, lol!

Well, it is almost 4:30 and the IL2 still isn't up from the pharmacy.  I'll give you another update later.
