Excerpt: The Pursuit of God, The Human Thirst for the Divine, A.W. Tozer

O God, I have tasted Thy goodness, and it has both satisfied me and made me thirsty for more. I am painfully conscious of my need of further grace. I am ashamed of my lack of desire. O God, The Triune God, I want to want Thee; I long to be filled with longing; I thirst to be made more thirsty still. Show me Thy glory, I pray Thee, that so I may know Thee indeed. Begin in mercy a new work of love within me. Say to my soul, "Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away." Then give me grace to rise and follow Thee up from this misty lowland where I have wondered so long. In Jesus' name. Amen

Unto the Least

A homeless man visited our church today.  He had been invited a long time ago by a young man who no longer attends our church.  He arrived in the parking lot at about 8:50 a.m. to wait for the former member.  Tim asked if he could help him at one point and told him the former member would not be coming.  The man finally came into the church for the morning worship services.

Tim could tell that he was homeless because it looked like every possession he had was in the front of the truck.  Tim invited him for lunch.  He barely ate anything.  He talked a mile a minute and we listened.  I found him hard to follow in his conversation, so I cleared off the table while he kept talking and Tim kept listening.  Finally, Tim moved him to the man room.  He never did ask for money, but Tim gave him some.  Soon, he was on his way.

I was reminded of this verse:  Matthew 25:40 "And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me."  We always taught the kids (by example) to be kind to those that are less fortunate than you are and we continue to do so to this day.  The Lord has blessed us in doing this, I believe, as we have never been in need of any of the necessities of life.  We can not help everyone, but when we can, I believe the Lord has made it so.

After the week of cold in Ohio last week, today was amazingly warm!  :D  It ended up raining a bit before the services ended this evening.  Here's a scrapbook page I did of the snow in Lancaster at Jessica's last week.
