Excerpt: The Pursuit of God, The Human Thirst for the Divine, A.W. Tozer

O God, I have tasted Thy goodness, and it has both satisfied me and made me thirsty for more. I am painfully conscious of my need of further grace. I am ashamed of my lack of desire. O God, The Triune God, I want to want Thee; I long to be filled with longing; I thirst to be made more thirsty still. Show me Thy glory, I pray Thee, that so I may know Thee indeed. Begin in mercy a new work of love within me. Say to my soul, "Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away." Then give me grace to rise and follow Thee up from this misty lowland where I have wondered so long. In Jesus' name. Amen

Thrifty Bargains

Left the house at 8:30 this morning in the beautiful morning sunshine.  However, the temps were in the 30's with a cold wind most of the day!

Went to the hospital to see the member of our church that I requested prayer for.  He is trusting in the Lord.  He was feeling fine.  Had eaten a good breakfast and was waiting for a PET scan to be taken later in the day.  If you don't know, these scans are used with radioactive sugar that is injected into your blood stream.  Cancer feeds on sugar.  So, what happens is, this radioactive sugar goes to the cancer.  Then, the cancer shows up as "hot spots" on the scan.  This is his third bout with cancer.  He lost his voice box and had to have a tracheotomy due to cancer from smoking.  Then he had to have some cancer removed on his arm.  Now this.  Please continue to pray.  I am hoping the results from the scan will be back tomorrow so we know for sure yay or nay if it is cancer that they found on his lungs.

Today was Tim's day off, and our day to go to the thrift stores.  We wanted to try out a restaurant by the name of FATZ Cafe.  The closest one to us is going out I-40 East and getting off at Exit 210.  52 is exit 192, so that gives you some idea of the distance we had to travel.  Not far.  And, since we were going to Greensboro to eat lunch, we visited the thrift stores in that area.  We have a list of 6 or 7 that we visit when we go that way.  And, I did find a few bargains today.  I'm not going to show you pictures of everything, but here are the GOOD bargains I found:

So, I found this "Days to Remember" Smash journal (scrapbooking type journal).  They were popular a couple of years ago, not so much now.  This particular one used to cost $17 + at Amazon.  When I checked earlier, you can get one for $7.99.  I paid $1.00 for mine!  CHA-CHING!!  It is 7 3/4" W x 10 1/4" L, so it is pretty good sized!

The other good bargain I found was this pair of Fiskars scissors.  I love these scissors!  I've got 2 pair right now in the junk drawer in the kitchen.  Why, you ask?  BECAUSE someone has used them for cutting things like wire, electrical tape, etc. and so you cannot use them for paper and/or material, which is what I like to use them for!

I'm pretty sure that I paid almost $9 a pair back in the day.  I found these for $2 today!  I tried them out before I bought them.  CHA-CHING!!!

OK, so we got tired of thrifting and went to Fatz for lunch.  It was a little after 12 when we got there.  It was VERY busy!  But, we didn't wait too long.  Tim ordered 1/2 rack ribs, chicken strips, french fries and cole slaw.  He took home some of the ribs, chicken and fries and had them for supper tonight.

I ordered this plate which came with a soup or salad.  I got the chicken chili.  It was a big bowl, so I ate all of it and only ate the popcorn shrimp from the plate.  I took home the sirloin, chicken and mashed potatoes.  For supper tonight I ate the chicken and mashed potatoes and froze the sirloin.  I will cut it up at a later time for stir fry or something.

When we got home, we went to a couple of our regular thrift stores, but didn't find anything.  We had a good day together.

Nite!
