Excerpt: The Pursuit of God, The Human Thirst for the Divine, A.W. Tozer

O God, I have tasted Thy goodness, and it has both satisfied me and made me thirsty for more. I am painfully conscious of my need of further grace. I am ashamed of my lack of desire. O God, The Triune God, I want to want Thee; I long to be filled with longing; I thirst to be made more thirsty still. Show me Thy glory, I pray Thee, that so I may know Thee indeed. Begin in mercy a new work of love within me. Say to my soul, "Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away." Then give me grace to rise and follow Thee up from this misty lowland where I have wondered so long. In Jesus' name. Amen

Journal

More work in preparing my journal.  I used some of the 6x6" scrapbook paper I have to make some pockets to store "stuff" in that I collect on our vacation.  These will take up almost an entire page in size.  The one on top is to show you the "tabs" on the back that I will put double-sided adhesive on to stick it to the journal page.  That way the adhesive won't "trap" any of the items I put in the pocket.

This bag is not going to be big enough to hold everything I intend to take with me.  So, I think I'm going to make a bigger one.

Here's some journaling items I found at Walmart.  The papers were cheap.  The pens and markers, not so much!

This is the smaller size of the cards I bought today.  The tape along the left hand side is called Washi tape.  I can already hear some of you saying, "What in the world is Washi tape?"  :D  So, here is a link where you can go to find out the answer:  http://www.sheknows.com/living/articles/951617/what-is-washi-tape

Here's the larger card that I got today.  Haven't decided how I'm going to attach these yet since they are so big.  The backs of these cards are decorated also.

OK, that's it for today!  Nite!

Scrap!

Praise the Lord!  The eye problem Tim had, uveitus, is gone and he can stop taking the eye drops!  They have scheduled him for another appointment in 3 months to check and make sure he stays on track!

He is on the mend as far as his cold goes, too.  Didn't cough nearly as much as he did yesterday!  We did hit our thrift stores, ate lunch at Arby's (notice the ketchup...I think Tim eats the fries for the ketchup!), came back home for a bit before we had to be at the hospital for his eye appointment at 1:00.

Today I have been working on my journal for our trip, getting ideas off the internet, gathering scrapbooking materials that I have never been able to part with, even though I am a digital scrapper now instead of paper scrapper.  Good thing, too!  :D

I have a date stamper.  I saw this idea on the internet.  Since I already have my divider pages for each day of our trip, I decided to stamp them now.  Except, for whatever dumb reason, I changed the year but not  the rest!  It took me 2 wrong pages before I got the date right!  Oh, well!  :D

Since I had this little pocket book, I decided to store some tags, etc in it til I need them.

And, here's just a few of the scrapbooking supplies I will be taking with me so I can work on my journal as we go.

That's it for me!  Nite!

Feeling Better, Yes, He Is!

Tim did not go to church tonight.  He has been coughing a lot.  Last night before he went to sleep, he coughed.  Had to get up for a handkerchief to blow his nose.  Finally he fell asleep and the coughing stopped.  His voice sounded a little better today, but I'm sure after coughing today that his throat is probably sore.  He has an eye doctor appointment tomorrow to see how the uveitus is coming along.  It must be better because he doesn't even mention seeing spots anymore.  He is still doing the eye drops once a day.

I didn't do much today.  I worked on the lesson for the ladies' meeting planned for February 27th.  That took a lot of time.  Then I did a scrapbook page for a challenge at the Digi Chick.  Elisabeth posted this picture of Abby a couple of days ago and I told her then that she could expect to see it in a scrapbook page.  So, here it is, Lizzie!  :D
Kit - Scrap Addict Collection by Kimeric Kreations at Digi Chick
Abby is so cute and feisty!  And she probably gets by with more stuff than she should because of that cute feistiness!  Sometimes I have to turn my head to keep from laughing out loud at her!  :D

I'm working on a Florida journal and have decided I'm going to use one I found at Goodwill last year sometime.  It costs $14.99 at Amazon and I got it for $2.00!  BRAND NEW!!  LOVE it when I find a great deal like that!

So, what I'm going to do is "embellish" the journal.  You see the tabs sticking out the right side of it?  I added those by taking manilla alphabetical A-Z filing cards, 5x8".  I cut them down to size, punched the holes and cut up to the hole so the cards would wrap around the binding of the notebook.

I made a tab for each day of the week and had enough blank pages (kraft paper-type pages) to have 10 pages per day.  I'm sure I won't need that many, but I might!  :D  On the right hand side I ripped a piece of  5x5" scrap paper to fit the 4 1/2" wide x 6 3/4" tall page.  I will use this for some journaling.  I'll be adding other tags, ribbons, paperclips, pictures, etc, too.

On the next page, I took the scrap that I ripped off of the 5x5 sheet of scrapbook paper and made it into a little pocket.  It won't hold much, but it will be a way to attached some little trinket AND I can use it for journaling, too!  :D

Here's another little pocket-keeper that is handmade from a piece of scrapbook paper.  I want to incorporate it into this journal, too!  So, I hope this gives you an idea of what the journal might look like eventually!  :D

Well, that's it for me tonight!  Sweet dreams!

Stuff

I have an honest excuse for not posting on here the last couple of days......I've been doing digital scrapbooking stuff.  This time, I've been creating!  I made a couple of mini kits out of the color palette for the color challenge this month at Plain Digital Wrapper.  I'm not sure what I ever saw in designing!  It is a lot of work!  :D  Plus, my brain froze over the last two years and I really had to think hard about how to do some of the stuff to create these kits!  IF you are interested in downloading them, go to my designing blog to find the last 2 posts and click on the preview images to download the kits.

Let me think.  What have I been up to this week.
1.  Tim has been sick with a cold.  First cold he has had in a loooong time!  He may not be able to preach tomorrow at church.
2. Monday I changed the church sign, did some scrapbooking, created one of the 2 kits I mentioned earlier, baked some delicious Tollhouse Turtle cookies and fixed a wonderful dinner of meat loaf, baked sweet potatoes and asparagus.

3. Today I woke up with a headache.  I tossed and turned most of the night, I think, and could not sleep.  I woke up with a startle at 9:37.  Straightened up a bit and worked on the second digital scrapbooking kit mentioned earlier.  Fixed spaghetti and meatballs for dinner.  Got some ideas for a journal to keep for our vacation to Florida in about 3 weeks.

And, that's a wrap!  Nite!

Digi Scrapping

I have been scrapping like a mad woman!  Most of these have been done for challenges at The Digi Chick, Plain Digital Wrapper and Scrappy Bee.  Which one is your favorite?
Enjoy!

These were done using Kimeric Kreations kits.

These were done using Cindy Ritter's kits.

I think all of the layouts were done using Lori Imel's kits.

My Prayer Journal and other stuff

I took Hannah, Ryan and Abby back home Wednesday (met Liz half way), rushed back home so I could go with Tim for his doctor appointment, busied myself straightening the house back up, got ready for church and totally forgot to post anything on the blog here!

Then, there was Thursday.  You know that is Tim's day off, so we went to the thrift stores, ate lunch at a new place over past the mall called, Newk's Eatery.  It was a little pricey, but the food was really good!  Tim and I both got Newk's "Q" which was "our signature white BBQ sauce, freshly grilled chicken, Applewood smoked bacon and Swiss cheese."  It was really good!  We also had a side of  mac and cheese.  Mine had buffalo chicken in it, which was good.  When we got home, I did nothing but play with digital scrapbooking and forgot about making my blog post again!

Tim's mom sent me a note this morning wondering what had happened to my blog posts and wondered if I was sick.  I told her I had just forgotten and promised I would post tonight!  :D

I mentioned playing in digital scrapbooking again.  So, I am on two CT's (Creative Teams) which means I "work" for two digital designers of scrapbooking kits.  My "work" is getting a kit of theirs, for free, and creating scrapbook pages with them and post the pages around the internet at different scrapbooking sites.  One of the ladies I do "work" for is Cindy Ritter Designs at Plain Digital Wrapper.  The other is Lori Imel Designs at Scrappy Bee.  I "met" both of these ladies when I was at Digitals and in my own designing venture.

Lori created a Prayer Journal, so I got it from her to make one of my own.  I didn't follow her instructions exactly because I improvised on the supplies I used compared to how she made hers.  Here is how I made it:

This is the cover.  I used a DIY scrapbook-making kit that I have had for years and years!  I tried to sell it at the yard sale last summer but now I'm glad I didn't.  My Journal is basically a 6"x6" journal, so I had to trim the cardboard down a bit.  I bought a pack of 6"x6" paper at Walmart for $3 and used Lori's files to print on the papers.  After I cut down the cardboard cover, I sprayed adhesive to them and covered them with the paper.
Measuring of cardboard for trimming to size of paper.

Inside front and back covers
Next, I used Lori's files to print on more of the paper for the divisions in the journal:  Praises, Prayer Requests Personal, Prayer Requests Family, Prayer Requests Others, and Journal/Notes.  I took 2 sheets and glued them together back to back so they would be stiffer.
Printed pages for journal section dividers

Glued back to back and then cut 1/2" off to create tabs.
Lori has a file to print out lined pages, but I had a spiral bound notebook that I trimmed to size.
Trimming the notebook paper
Then I punched holes in the notebook paper, dividers and covers.  I divided the paper evenly and put the journal together.  It looks great!  The only thing I need to buy are the rings to go through the holes to hold it together!  Voila!
All I need are the rings to hold all the pages together!  Beautiful!

OK, that's it for tonight!  Tomorrow, if I don't forget, I'll share some scrapbooking pages I have made the last couple of days.

Nite!

Thom-A-Lex Park

One of the favorite things for the kids to do when they visit is to go to the "park with the ducks."  So, we stopped at the Walmart Express on the way to Thom-A-Lex park for cheerios to feed the ducks, geese and sea gulls.  Yes, sea gulls.  I think there are more sea gulls on this lake than at the beach!  :D

We all got up around 8, ate breakfast, cleaned up the living room, dining room, toy room and kitchen.  By that time it was lunch time.  Then we headed to the park.

We left the park at 1:30 so we could stop for something to drink on the way home and be home at 2 for Abby's nap time.  She had to work off her koolade before she would lay down, however!  :D

We woke her up in time to get ready and head to McDonalds for supper.  We went to the one over by the mall that has a play area.  Ice cream before we left and then Walmart for popcorn and THEN home!

Showers and baths being taken as we speak, plans made for the kid exchange tomorrow, movie time and then to bed, sleep head!

Thanks for letting the kids spend the night, Lizzie!  Love you!

Nite!
