Excerpt: The Pursuit of God, The Human Thirst for the Divine, A.W. Tozer

O God, I have tasted Thy goodness, and it has both satisfied me and made me thirsty for more. I am painfully conscious of my need of further grace. I am ashamed of my lack of desire. O God, The Triune God, I want to want Thee; I long to be filled with longing; I thirst to be made more thirsty still. Show me Thy glory, I pray Thee, that so I may know Thee indeed. Begin in mercy a new work of love within me. Say to my soul, "Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away." Then give me grace to rise and follow Thee up from this misty lowland where I have wondered so long. In Jesus' name. Amen

Snow Day

Yes, today was a snow day!  I only stepped outside to take pictures!
At about 9 a.m.  Not much activity on the road today

Out the front door and across the road.

Tim's lonely tracks going over to the office.

Snapped with the flash so it would reflect off of the sleet that was coming down.

See my nicely organized shelves behind me?

Hard to tell, but this is a flower I added to the headband for Araya to match the outfit I made for her.

This is a card I received from my Secret Sister last Sunday.  I'm going to save them and decorate the envelopes throughout the year.
Yummy pizza for our dinner tonight!  :D

Doing a tag book of "I AM's" for His Kingdom Come site, Take Me Deeper

This is the cover to my "I AM" tag book.

Hood practically hid my face in this one.

That's better!  :D
That was my snow day!  :D

A Thrifting We Will Go

Thursday is still Tim's day off and the day we go thrifting.  Several months ago we decided to change it up a bit and spread out to do thrifting in other areas.  So one week we head to Charlotte, another week we go to High Point, another week we go to what we refer to as the 4 corners of Winston.....Clemmons, Mocksville, Lexington, and Kernersville.  We hit the Goodwill on Jonestown road here in Winston as we head to Clemmons.  And then we do our regulars around here.  Since the weather was cold, we had decided to just do the regulars around here today.  We ate lunch at KFC and then went to Walmart to pick up a few things in case the weather they are predicting for us actually happens.  No!  We did not get milk, eggs and bread!  :D

The weather prediction for us yesterday was correct in that we were to get just a dusting of the white stuff.  When I thought about the church sign and the snow, I had to agree that God does have a big eraser.  He will erase our sins from our account when we trust the Lord Jesus Christ as our Savior.  When we do that, He makes us clean, white as snow!

Dusting of snow on the roof.

I love how bright it is in my craft room with the blinds open and the afternoon sun shining in the windows.  And I'm glad to have a place cleared off to keep my sewing machine on all the time!  I finished Araya's outfit tonight except for getting some cute buttons for the top.

So, I'm curious.  I saw this cute sign at the thrift today.  But, if you look closely at the snowman, something is wrong with him.  Do you see what the problem is?  Tim spotted it!  :D

We forgot to think about one item we might need for the snow storm that is headed up the east coast.....a snow shovel!  We thought about AFTER we got back to the house and had actually been home for awhile.  So, we decided rather than wait, we would try to find one.  We went to a family hardware store up the street.....no snow shovels.  We went BACK to Walmart.....no snow shovels.  We headed to Lowes.....no snow shovels!  We gave up and came home.  If it snows bunches, we are just tough out of luck!  Unless the neighbor has one!

So, here's today's picture.  Stay safe, warm and dry!

Progress

Yesterday I mentioned that Tim would be receiving a previous treatment that has already been tried for his cancer, but didn't work.  Since he has had a radiation treatment, the doctor feels like that will help somehow.  The treatment is an infusion.  The process is this:  check in, blood work, wait for the results of the blood work, doctor comes to tell you yay or nay on the blood work (checking liver numbers), yay means he contacts the pharmacy and they begin to thaw the medicine, wait for the medicine, the saline arrives, then the medicine arrives and the infusion begins.  About an hour later it is over and you go home.  Tim left around 9:45 this morning and got back around 2:30.  His next infusion will be in 3 weeks.  I do not go along on these infusions and he packs a lunch and a book, because most of the time is spent waiting.

Yesterday I also showed you a picture of a pillow cover I began for a girl at church.  Here is the finished picture.  The material is so soft.  Underneath the cover is a pillow of her mom's that she wanted to save, but the fabric is dry rotted.  So, the pillow itself is stuffed into one of those plastic bag holders.  That way when the cover needs to come off for washing, the pillow will still be intact.

Something else I started yesterday with some of the material the neighbor brought to me was an outfit for Araya.  I am almost finished with it.  I am working on binding the armholes and also want to make a matching headband.  The skirt is really full.  Here's a picture (just too tired to finish it tonight).

We are still eating lunch meat that I bought for our get-together New Year's weekend, but just had too much food to mess with it.  So, I bought some little hoagie buns and some shredded lettuce like you get at Subway.  Then I found a recipe for an oil and vinegar dressing for subs and mixed up a small portion (in case we didn't like it).  It is really pretty good!  Here's what we have eaten for lunch the last couple of days:

Yummy!
So, that's about it, except for the most important picture of the day..........taken in Tim's office at church:

A Did-Something Day

After yesterday, I decided I needed to get some things done today!  :D  And I did!

I pulled the sewing machine out to make a cover for the pillow you see in the background for the neighbor, Lori McNew. I forgot to take a picture of the finished pillow.

When it is very cold out, Buford (a member of our church) cannot come out to services, so I fix him audio CDs of Tim's messages.

I finished up the last of the leftovers from our get-together with the kids 2 1/2 weeks ago by turning the chicken and rice casserole into soup.  I added some water, a Ramen noodle flavor packet, onion, parsley, thyme, celery salt (cause I didn't have the real thing), and a bay leaf. I added a few more frozen veggies, too.  Let it boil long enough to cook the veggies good. Fixed a couple of grilled cheese sandwiches and it was a perfect meal for a cold day.

Here's my supplies for bandaging the tumor on Tim's chest every night.

The tumor is definitely changing after the radiation treatment.  And speaking of treatments, the doctor is going back to medicine #5 (which is the one that allowed lumps of melanoma to multiply very rapidly) because he is thinking the radiation may help it to work.  I have to honestly say that I am very skeptical (which is totally NOT part of my Having Only Positive Expectations (H.O.P.E.) for the year!  He told Tim to keep the current meds (#6 & 7) just in case.

Lori brought over some material today, which I have no place to store it because I already have too much material I need to do something with.  So, I decided to just whip up something quickly for Araya.  So, I am going to make her a simple, elasticized skirt.  But, I had so much of this material left still that I looked through my kids patterns and found a cute jacket pattern that I am going to make into a vest, instead.  That way Jessica can put a T-shirt underneath during the winter and then Araya can wear it sleeveless come summer time.....assuming she can even still wear it!  :D

Yes, I know Tim's mom is just loving this picture, since she hates Tim wearing his hoodie all the time!  :D  Well, tonight I had the housecoat on that she gave me for Christmas a couple of years ago.  I was wearing it because it did not get above 68 all day in the house!  It only got to 31 as a high outside!  Around 11 a.m. Tim turned the system off of heat pump (since it was so cold outside) and put it on emergency heat, which is electric heat.  After that, the temperature started dropping instead of getting warmer!  It got down to 66 and was 62 down in Tim's man-cave!  That is why he bundles up in his hoodie AND a blanket since it is so chilly tonight!  Anyway, I decided to throw the hood up on my housecoat to get my daily picture with Tim.

It is almost 12:30 a.m. and it is warmer in the house right now than it was all day.......69!  :D  Nite all!

A Do-Nothing Day

.....except for groceries and running to Dollar Tree and Tuesday Morning and Mega Thrift.  The rest of the day was pretty useless.  Just one of those days that I felt like doing nothing.  Tomorrow will have to be different!

I did manage to get my daily photo, even though it took 4 tries to get it right with the light in the man room!  And then I still had to do some photoshop work on it!  :D

I Am Fairly Certain That Given A Cape and A Nice Tiara, I Could Save the World

by Leigh Standley, Curly Girl Designs

I saw this quote at Mega Thrift today as a skin for a laptop.  I should have bought it for 99 cents.  But, it had ten cents written on it and she wouldn't give it to me for that so I told her to keep it!  She probably thinks I changed the price, however, it was written in the same marker as all their other price tags are written in!  The canvas art from this girl is $115!  YIKES!  I'm thinking 99 cents is a good deal!  :D  I may have to go back and get it!  Even though my principles tell me to leave it!

Snow Cold!

BRRRR!  Today has been really cold!  I don't know if it even got into the 40's!  When I opened the door to head over to the church I was surprised to see that it was snowing!  So, I got my umbrella and the camera.

It was not sticking very much but melting, especially on the pavement.

I tried to zoom in to see some of the flakes against a darker background, but they mainly blurred.

The neighbors, who were just recently saved during our Fall Revival, invited Tim and I to go to BreakfasTime restaurant for lunch with them.  We had a wonderful time chatting with them.  The place was packed out and had LOTS of people waiting to be seated.  I guess we were there about 20 minutes before we got a table.  I was in the mood for breakfast, but I was also in the mood for a sandwich.  So, I opted for a BLT with egg on it and got a cup of tomato soup that had noodles, spinach and feta cheese in it.  YUM!  Tim and everyone else got breakfast.

I decided to get my daily photo of Tim and I while there.  I turned it into a black and white photo.
At BreakfasTime restaurant with Lori and Frank
After we got home, for the rest of the afternoon, I tried to catch up on some art work:
Done for Documented Life 2016
Pocket Art Card (PAC) for Documented Life with Documented Faith Monthly Word - Pray
Documented Faith verse
And that wraps up my day!  :D

Art

I've been trying to keep up with about 3 different groups, but I'm not succeeding very well!  Just too much going on, especially since I've been working to organize my craft room better.  WOW!  What a time-hog it has been!  But, I've been able to get some art done at night, since I'm a night owl!  :D

First off, HOPE is my "WORD" for the year.  I'm praying to hear those words, "CANCER FREE" this year!  So, I made up this little graphic to depict my word.

One Little Word
One of the groups I have joined this year is Documented Life 2016.  They provide different prompts each week for being creative with.  This little card (2.5"x3.5") was created on a playing card.  This is the front and back.  I sewed the paper onto the card and added the little text boxes that I had typed and printed.  I printed out the head of the woman using a Graphics Fairy image and glued it to the paper after the sewing.  Then I turned the card over, printed out my HOPE graphic and glued it down and added the border with a marker and stamped the bottom "hope."
Documented Life 2016
This was done for the group, Documented Faith.  Every month focuses around a word.  Prayer is the word for January.  And each week through the month we are given a or some verses that deal with the word for the month.  I did this one digitally and then printed it on scrapbooking cardstock paper.  Cardstock always hangs up in my printer, so I about lost the top line of text.
Documented Faith
The third group is His Kingdom Come.  We are given a verse of scripture and we are to paint something that represents the verse.
His Kingdom Come
So, there is a bit about the different groups I will be centering my artwork around this year.

Here is today's picture of Tim and I getting ready to do one of our daily evening chores, which is to bandage the tumor on his left chest.
