Excerpt: The Pursuit of God, The Human Thirst for the Divine, A.W. Tozer

O God, I have tasted Thy goodness, and it has both satisfied me and made me thirsty for more. I am painfully conscious of my need of further grace. I am ashamed of my lack of desire. O God, The Triune God, I want to want Thee; I long to be filled with longing; I thirst to be made more thirsty still. Show me Thy glory, I pray Thee, that so I may know Thee indeed. Begin in mercy a new work of love within me. Say to my soul, "Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away." Then give me grace to rise and follow Thee up from this misty lowland where I have wondered so long. In Jesus' name. Amen

A Good Day

Didn't start out that way, however.  I woke up with one of those headaches.  Got up at 6:30 to take some tylenol and then go back to bed.  Tim got up around 7 and ate his breakfast.  Then he went to his recliner to watch the news and doze.  However, at 8 he came back to bed with the same complaint he has had before.  If he lies too far back in the recliner, he feels like he can't breathe correctly.  But, he doesn't have this problem lying in bed.  But, he is always on his side in bed.  Strange.  Something I will definitely mention at his next oncology visit on the 30th.

We finally got up around 8:45, got dressed and took care of e-mail, etc.  At 9:45 we went to the mail to return some more VBS stuff.  Then we went to Walmart to make the deposit, fill my acid reflux meds and get some groceries.

Later on in the day, around 2 or so, we decided to take a trip to the Farmer's Market at exit 208 on I-40.  So Tim wouldn't have to do so much walking, which he cannot do anyway, we stopped and got a wheelchair from Lori.  It worked perfectly.  Good thing there was a breeze blowing or I would have been so hot and ended up with a bad headache, especially since the one I had in the morning was still hanging on!

We went to A&B Seeds there on the same property to look at house plants, but we didn't see anything.  So, back home we came.

Tim laid down for a nap while I worked on getting the new church sign up.  Jessica called and we talked for about 1/2 hour until I had to start supper.  Tim got up when he smelled things cooking.

After supper, we went outside under the carport.  It began raining soon after we got settled.  It actually rained and started blowing and getting us wet, so Tim sat in the car until it stopped.  When it finally stopped raining, we sat back down in the lawn chairs and weren't settled for very long when it started to rain again.  So we called it quits for the evening.  Came back in the house and ate some ice cream and read our Evening Spurgeon devotion.

Those clouds look pretty threatening!

So, the flock of birds from yesterday in the tobacco field were back and out in the front yard.  This is the bird I tried to find the identity to last night.  When I realized it was mixed in with the starlings, I googled "starlings."  And that is what it is for sure.

Brown-headed cowbirds

another gully-washer!

The water is creeping in on us.

Tim escaped to the car for awhile.

Bluebird took its usual place on the wire again after the rain.

This week's church sign.  Matthew 6:24  "No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon."

Time to call it quits for the day.
