Excerpt: The Pursuit of God, The Human Thirst for the Divine, A.W. Tozer

O God, I have tasted Thy goodness, and it has both satisfied me and made me thirsty for more. I am painfully conscious of my need of further grace. I am ashamed of my lack of desire. O God, The Triune God, I want to want Thee; I long to be filled with longing; I thirst to be made more thirsty still. Show me Thy glory, I pray Thee, that so I may know Thee indeed. Begin in mercy a new work of love within me. Say to my soul, "Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away." Then give me grace to rise and follow Thee up from this misty lowland where I have wondered so long. In Jesus' name. Amen

The Preacher and His Friend

I was encouraged during Tim's devotion at the Mallard Ridge Assisted Living service tonight.  It's hard to keep a good man down!  And, if I do say so myself, I have a good one!
I wish I had recorded his message.  He talked about his Friend, the Lord Jesus Christ.  He wanted all of the residents to know his Friend!  I asked him when we got home if it felt good to preach tonight.  He said, "Yes, it did!"  Thank You, Lord, for bringing him as far as You have!

Proverbs 18:24 ¶ A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.
Jesus was/is a friend of publicans (tax collectors) and sinners (you and me).  Matthew 11:19
I pray Jesus is your friend!

Jesus Is All the World to Me
Will L. Thompson, 1904

1. Jesus is all the world to me,
My life, my joy, my all;
He is my strength from day to day,
Without Him I would fall.
When I am sad, to Him I go,
No other one can cheer me so;
When I am sad, He makes me glad,
He’s my Friend.

2. Jesus is all the world to me,
My Friend in trials sore;
I go to Him for blessings, and
He gives them o’er and o’er.
He sends the sunshine and the rain,
He sends the harvest’s golden grain;
Sunshine and rain, harvest of grain,
He’s my Friend.

3. Jesus is all the world to me,
And true to Him I’ll be;
Oh, how could I this Friend deny,
When He’s so true to me?
Following Him I know I’m right,
He watches o’er me day and night;
Following Him by day and night,
He’s my Friend.

4. Jesus is all the world to me,
I want no better Friend;
I trust Him now, I’ll trust Him when
Life’s fleeting days shall end.
Beautiful life with such a Friend,
Beautiful life that has no end;
Eternal life, eternal joy,
He’s my Friend.

Since we went to Mallard Ridge tonight, and since it was too hot outside during the day, the only photo I have for you is another transformation of the mushroom.

Other activities for the day:
swept and mopped the linoleum floors
cleaned up the kitchen
ran the dishwasher
made several of Tim's medical phone calls
worked in the checkbook
boxed up the VBS items we are returning (we are not doing VBS this year due to Tim's health)
took the VBS boxes to the post office
stopped at the remodeled Aldi for a few things
made the deposit and picked up some milk at Walmart
ate lunch at Pizza Hut (and had an upset stomach the rest of the day)
while Tim napped, I rested on the couch, hoping the stomach would settle
I finally had to take a nausea pill before going to Mallard Ridge

A weird thing happened at Pizza Hut today.  We both got the buffet, I got back to our table first.
Tim brought his food after me, but he looked at me and started saying things like not being enough tables and hope you enjoy your food, took his plate to another table.  Then I realized what just happened.  He didn't recognize me when he brought his food back to the table and thought another lady had the audacity to sit at our table.  I called out to him once I realized what was going on and said, "Tim!  It's me!"  He looked at me kinda weird and then said, "OH!" and came back over to our table!  He started apologizing.  It kinda freaked me out!  I told him tonight that I would chalk it up to him not having his glasses on, my hair being up and having a top on that I haven't worn much.  Truly a weird experience!  I am praying it is just a fluke and part of the fact that his brain is still healing!

Time for bed!  I pray that now that Tim has this devotion behind him (it took him a LONG time to prepare for it) that he will relax and rest more!
