Excerpt: The Pursuit of God, The Human Thirst for the Divine, A.W. Tozer

O God, I have tasted Thy goodness, and it has both satisfied me and made me thirsty for more. I am painfully conscious of my need of further grace. I am ashamed of my lack of desire. O God, The Triune God, I want to want Thee; I long to be filled with longing; I thirst to be made more thirsty still. Show me Thy glory, I pray Thee, that so I may know Thee indeed. Begin in mercy a new work of love within me. Say to my soul, "Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away." Then give me grace to rise and follow Thee up from this misty lowland where I have wondered so long. In Jesus' name. Amen

There Is a Fountain

There Is a Fountain

There is a fountain filled with blood,
Drawn from Immanuel’s veins,
And sinners plunged beneath that flood
Lose all their guilty stains:
Lose all their guilty stains,
Lose all their guilty stains;
And sinners plunged beneath that flood
Lose all their guilty stains.

The dying thief rejoiced to see
That fountain in His day;
And there may I, though vile as he,
Wash all my sins away:
Wash all my sins away,
Wash all my sins away;
And there may I, though vile as he,
Wash all my sins away.

Dear dying Lamb, Thy precious blood
Shall never lose its pow’r,
Till all the ransomed church of God
Be saved to sin no more:
Be saved to sin no more,
Be saved to sin no more;
Till all the ransomed church of God
Be saved to sin no more.

E’er since by faith I saw the stream
Thy flowing wounds supply,
Redeeming love has been my theme,
And shall be till I die:
And shall be till I die,
And shall be till I die;
Redeeming love has been my theme,
And shall be till I die.

When this poor, lisping, stamm’ring tongue
Lies silent in the grave,
Then in a nobler, sweeter song,
I’ll sing Thy pow’r to save:
I’ll sing Thy pow’r to save,
I’ll sing Thy pow’r to save;
Then in a nobler, sweeter song,
I’ll sing Thy pow’r to save.

The Cleansing Wave

Oh, now I see the cleansing wave!
The fountain deep and wide;
Jesus, my Lord, mighty to save,
Points to His wounded side.

Refrain:
The cleansing stream I see, I see!
I plunge, and, oh, it cleanseth me!
Oh, praise the Lord, it cleanseth me!
It cleanseth me, yes, cleanseth me.

I see the new creation rise,
I hear the speaking blood;
It speaks, polluted nature dies,
Sinks ’neath the cleansing flood.

I rise to walk in Heav’n’s own light,
Above the world and sin,
With heart made pure and garments white,
And Christ enthroned within.

Amazing grace! ’tis Heav’n below
To feel the blood applied,
And Jesus, only Jesus know,
My Jesus crucified.

Lots of church song books have removed the hymns that talk about the blood of Christ.  Beloved, if it were not for the shed blood of Christ, none of us could be saved.  Hebrews 9:22 says, "And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission."  Chapters 9 and 10 of Hebrews talks about the animal sacrifices that were made to God, which pictured the sacrifice of a coming Savior.  Yet, those sacrifices could not remove sin.  That's why the priests had to keep making the sacrifices.  But, Christ's sacrifice removes sin when we trust Him as our Lord and Savior!  He only had to die once!  He doesn't keep coming back and dying on the cross.  Once for all!
Oh!  Be thankful for the blood!  The blood of Christ!  And, by the way,  when John 3:16 says, "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.".... the word "world" is not talking about individuals/people.  The Greek word is cosmos which does not translate into MEN or WOMEN. The important part of that verse is the "whosoever."  Whosoever will may come!  Revelation 22:17 says, "And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely."

That being said, Jesus did NOT die for EVERYONE!   In Matthew 26:28 and Mark 14:24, Jesus said His blood was shed for MANY, not EVERYONE!  Everyone is invited to come, yes!  But, no one will without God doing something first to change their heart so they will come.  And that's a whole-nother story that I don't want to get into tonight!

Tim got up around 7:30, ate breakfast and went back to bed.  It was 10:00 before we got, I kid you not!  We got dressed and went to the two local Goodwills.  He still didn't want any lunch, but had a granola bar and I had him drink an Ensure.  We went over to the church office and worked on the big desk calendar.  When we went back to the house, I fixed myself something to eat while he snoozed in his recliner.  Around 3:00 I took my shower.  While I was in there, Tim brought the trash cans to the house from the road.  That was a workout for him!  When I got out of the shower, I found he had gone to bed!

When he got up around 5, he got dressed for church.  He still did not want anything to eat.  Finally, at 5:45 he picked up his iPad and said he was going on over to the church.  I told him he still had an hour and 45 minutes before church started at 7:30.  He looked at the clock like he was confused about the time.  Anyway, he finally sat back down in the recliner and snoozed some more.  He woke up at 6:25 and asked if anyone was in the church parking lot yet.  I told him it was still an hour before church time.  Finally, at 6:55 I told him I was going to fix him some Gatorade to take to church and we left the house at 7:05.  He read over the missionary letter and the prayer list.

When it came time to pray, he told Mark to begin and that he would close.  But, after Mark prayed, he didn't.  Instead he told Bobby to lead another song and he sat down.  It worries me because I am with him all the time and can tell he has been more confused again lately.  I feel certain there is more cancer invading his brain.  I am not looking forward to the results of the brain MRI on July 12th.  But, I will just keep trusting the Lord to have His perfect will and way in our lives, knowing He makes no mistakes!

Please pray that the oncologist on Friday will be prepared to order a CT scan of Tim's chest, abdomen and pelvic area.  I don't want to have to demand a CT scan be done!  Prepare the heart of the doctor, O Lord, to order the CT scan!

How is Tim's vision? Can he read any better? (You mentioned him using the iPad, so I was curious.)

Also, how do you like the Roomba! (If you don't like it, you can give it back to me. I just thought you'd love the break from one of your chores. I sure do.)

How are you holding up? Have the ladies at church been supporting you? As Tim's main care giver, you need to be taken care of too.

Praying, as always. I love you.
