Excerpt: The Pursuit of God, The Human Thirst for the Divine, A.W. Tozer

O God, I have tasted Thy goodness, and it has both satisfied me and made me thirsty for more. I am painfully conscious of my need of further grace. I am ashamed of my lack of desire. O God, The Triune God, I want to want Thee; I long to be filled with longing; I thirst to be made more thirsty still. Show me Thy glory, I pray Thee, that so I may know Thee indeed. Begin in mercy a new work of love within me. Say to my soul, "Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away." Then give me grace to rise and follow Thee up from this misty lowland where I have wondered so long. In Jesus' name. Amen

Widow's Retreat

I've been added to a "club" I hadn't intended to join. But the Lord in His providence had signed me up to be a widow before the foundation of the world. And since He knows what is best for me I will accept His plan for my life. I can't say that I'm happy to be in this club yet, but I know that the best place to be is in God's plan for my life.

I got back today from a retreat for widows. It is sponsored by our sister church in Statesville, Damascus Baptist. People from as far as California come to help pamper the widows for the week. It is an amazing ministry. The ladies build such a great friendship, one that is eternal.

The schedule for each day looked something like this :
8:00 breakfast followed by devotions. Then we met for a time of sharing, or a message. Then we had some free time until lunch.
12:00-12:30 lunch began. The afternoons were free.
6:00 supper was served followed by devotions.

The food was delicious, too! I didn't take any pictures but I should have. I will post some of the pictures I took this week in another post.

During one of the sharing times, we told our love stories. I will share it with you in another post. It was a teary time.

New friends were made, sweet fellowship was had, hugs were shared and everyone is looking forward to next year.

Thanks You, Lord, for the blessings of the week! Thank You for the ones who sacrificed their time to be a blessing to us.
