Two Times Church Day

Sundays are wonderful days for me. I really enjoy going to the house of the Lord! I look forward to taking notes during the Sunday school lesson and then the sermon. I enjoy greeting and visiting with the other attendees. I love the singing and the praying. I love it when the Lord speaks to my heart about something being taught or preached. I love "two times church days!"  The only thing I don't love when I attend services is Tim's absence from the pulpit!

"I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the Lord." Psalm 122:1

Have a wonderful week!

Eastern Towhee Bird

Thanks to a dear pastor friend, Bro. Dale Wallace, who gave me the name of the bird I had questions about in yesterday's post.  He gave me the name, Rufous-sided Towhee.  This site is now calling it the Eastern Towhee:

The Rye Record
(click on title to read more)

"As the Cornell Lab of Ornithology describes it, adults have rufous sides, a white belly, and a long dark tail with white edges. The eyes are red, white for birds in the Southeast. Males have a black head, upper body, and tail; these parts are brown in the female. For the edification of birding beginners, more experienced birders like to refer to the color that Benjamin Moore calls “rusty red” as rufous."

Mine is obviously a female as the colors are not as striking as those shown in the male below.  Plus, mine looks gray instead of brown.  Must be a camera thing!  :D

Thank you, Brother Dale, for your information!  It never ceases to amaze me at the beauty found in God's creation and how He designed the male birds to be brighter and prettier than the females who usually blend into the background so as to protect the eggs/babies!  Our God is an AWESOME God!

Meeting In The Air

(click title to listen)

You have heard of little Moses in the bull rush
You have heard of fearless David and his sling
You have heard the story told of dreaming Joseph
And of Jonah and the whale you often sing...

There is going to be a meeting in the air
In that sweet, sweet by and by
I am going to meet you, meet you over there
In that home beyond the sky
Such singing you will hear, never heard by mortals ears
Will be glorious, I do de- clare
And God's own son will be the leading one
At that meeting in the air

There are many many others through the bible
I should like to meet them all, I do declare
By and by the lord will surely let us meet them
At that meeting in the air...

AH, my friend!  The closer I get to heaven's shore the more I cannot wait to be there!  Do I hear an AMEN?!  And, surprisingly, it isn't so much about seeing Tim, or dad and mom, or Moses, David, Joseph, Jonah or anyone else, even though that is going to be great, too!  It is all about seeing our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!  Finally, face to face!  Can you even imagine?!  He saved me from my original destiny.....hell!  All I can do is ask myself, Why me?  I certainly didn't deserve it!  Verse 5 below answers this question, it was "the good pleasure of His will!"  I am so thankful for that!

Last night, at the ladies' meeting we talked about our spiritual blessings in Christ that are found in Ephesians 1:
3 ¶ Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:
4 According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:
5 Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,
6 To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.
7 In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;
8 Wherein he hath abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence;
9 Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself:
10 That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him:
11 In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:
12 That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.
13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
14 Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.
15 ¶ Wherefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus, and love unto all the saints,
16 Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers;
17 That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:
18 The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,
19 And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power,
20 Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places,
21 Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come:
22 And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church,
23 Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.

The inheritance that awaits us in heaven is just unfathomable!  For all who are IN CHRIST!  How do you get to be IN CHRIST?  If you have realized you are a sinner before a holy God and realize that in and of yourself there is no hope of you ever getting to heaven.....if you have believed that Jesus is the only hope of getting to God the Father through the work He did on the cross as He shed His own blood in your place on your behalf.....if you have repented of your sins and asked God to forgive you.....if you have put your trust in Jesus Christ as your, my friend, are IN CHRIST!!  ALL of these spiritual blessings are yours!  Not to mention the day to day blessings we have!

I've been filling bird feeders with seeds and hanging suet cakes and mealworm cakes for the birds.  FOR THE BIRDS!!  But, I've had to move the feeders and the cakes because of this little guy......
I didn't mind him being on the ground, but.....

.....he didn't stay on the ground!  This is a NO, NO!
I have moved all of the feeders and cakes to the metal clothes line poles.....until I can figure out a better place to put the shepherds hooks.  The photos were taken before I moved the feeders.

I have seen a couple varieties of woodpeckers in Ilene's trees.  This is a female downy woodpecker.  The males have a red spot on the back of their heads.

It's hard to tell but this little guy was a red-headed woodpecker.  We pulled into the driveway and parked the car when Ilene spied him climbing around the tree.  So, I tried to capture him with my phone camera and didn't do a very good job.  He didn't want his picture taken very much!

Stunning color!

I tried to find this bird, but could not.  Looked like one picture of a junco, however, the beak was not dark and the junco was much darker.

Male house finch.

There are 3 mealworm cakes here.  The mealworms are good for the birds in the spring when they are having babies.  This is Mr. House Finch and Mrs. Cardinal.

What'cha doin?

And the red, red robin goes bob, bob, bobbin' along!

We've had a couple of days in the 60's!  It has been wonderful to be outside without a coat!  Especially after last week's freak snow!

We didn't get much, but it was very cold with some ice.  The whole process started with rain, then turned to sleet and ended with the snow.  Then it reversed itself and soon (a couple of days) it was all gone again!

Time to wind down and prepare for church tomorrow!  Have a great Lord's Day!

Lights In The World

The adults are going through the book of Philippians in Sunday School.  Today was chapter 2 verses 12-15.  To "work out your own salvation with fear and trembling" does not mean we are to "do" to gain salvation.  The "work" is God working in us to do the things that please Him (vs.13).  Salvation is His work (Ephesians 2:8, 9).  Since we are working for Him, we are to do the work He has for us to do without grumbling or complaining about it (vs.14).  Why?  Because the world is watching us.  And the world is crooked and corrupt.  As God is in us, we need to shine as lights in the world because we have the True Light within us (v.15)!  Pretty basic teaching, but we all need to be reminded of it from time to time.  Lord, help me to always do your will without grumbling or complaining so I can be Your light in this dark and sinful world!

We had cold rain all day today.  The rain could change to snow by morning.  I'll be glad when Spring gets here to stay!

To Know Him Is To Love Him

I got a card in the mail that offered me a subscription to Sirius XM radio for 2 months for free.  No credit card was involved, so I did it!  So, Ilene and I have been enjoying listening to songs from the 50's.  (Yes, I remember quite a few of them from Mom and Dad playing 45rpm records, even though I was born in 1955.)

Anyway, we were out and about today and were listening to the station when a song played, "To Know Him Is To Love Him" sung by the Teddy Bears. Ilene said, "Makes me want my honey back!"  Yes, me, too!

To know, know, know him
Is to love, love, love him
Just to see him smile
Makes (made) my life worthwhile

To know, know, know him
Is to love, love, love him
And I do
(And I do, and I)
(And I do, and I)
(And I do, and I)
(And I do, and I)

I'd be good to him
I'd bring love to him
Everyone says there'll come a day
When I'll walk along side of him

Yes, yes to know him
Is to love, love, love him
And I do
(And I do, and I)
(And I do, and I)
(And I do, and I)
(And I do, and I)

Why can't he see
How blind can he be?
Someday he will see that he
Was meant for me
Oh, oh yes

Thank You, LORD, for allowing me the privilege of knowing him!  I know others feel the same way about him.  I'm sure they are thankful, too!

Anniversaries are supposed to be happy days.  A celebration.  Another memory made.  A hope realized.  And the same hope renewed.  Waiting to be fulfilled.  Another year passes.  Another celebration.  The shared dreams continue.

Some anniversaries are not so happy.  They count off the end of celebrations.  No more memories being made.  No more hopes realized.  The shared dreams ended.  And the months pass.

The days are filled with busy-ness.  Things to occupy the mind.  To keep the thoughts from dwelling on the ended celebrations.  The ended making of memories to pass on to the next and the next generation.  The ending of dreams shared only with one other

You have been gone seven months today.  I try to imagine what you might be doing in heaven.  All I can think is that you are worshiping our Savior.  That you are walking on streets of gold.  That you are healed.  You have a new body.  You are no longer in the fight with cancer.  You are free from the cares and concerns of this world.  And that is something to celebrate!

"Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints."  Psalm 116:15  God celebrated when you got home to heaven!  I celebrate the fact of knowing you.  I celebrate God putting you in my life!  I celebrate the love we shared, the children we bore, the God we served together and made the center of our lives! But I'm not ready to celebrate your going to heaven.....not yet, anyway.

So, the months will pass and I will add another mark to the number of months you are gone.  One of these days I will stop counting because my time will come to enter heaven, too.  And then someone else will begin counting off the months.

Happy 7th month in heaven, sweetie!

No More Tears

I had to go back to the eye doctor today for a visual field test.  I had never had one before and since my right eye is extremely bad compared to the left one the doctor wanted to test me.  He was satisfied with the results which he said was pretty normal and what he expected.  The best part is that he didn't charge me anything.

After I left the appointment, I went to the parsonage to move some stuff around for the girl who will be picking up some of the furniture, etc next Tuesday.  I pulled what I could to the man room in the parsonage so that the stuff could go out the door on the side of the house towards the drive way.  I also unboxed the remaining dishes I had in the kitchen so she could see if she needed anything.  I couldn't move some of the items because of size.  Some things will have to go out the door in the front of the house that faces the street.

While there, I made the mistake of dragging the stuff out of one of the end tables that was in the man cave.  It was stuff of Tim's that made me cry as I looked through it.  Especially the things he had gotten from the kids and grandkids.

When Tim went into the hospital the first time after the cancer came back in 2013, Jessica and Liz had helped the kids create a care box for him.  I also found a photo album with pictures of Tim with the grandkids and also where some of them answered a questionnaire about their favorite things they had done with grandpa, etc.  That's when the crying began as I flipped through the pages of the scrapbook.  Other things included the hat, very dark sunglasses, and the Michael Jackson gloves he had to wear while driving or being outside because the medicine he took at the time would cause him to sunburn severely.  There was also a stack of get well cards and prayer cards from people all over.  And there were several notebooks with different "cures" for cancer.

I went out to check the mail and noticed the daffodils and hyacinth in bloom and it made me sad to think about the flowers coming up as usual but Tim would not be able to enjoy them as usual.  Nothing is "as usual" any longer.  Everything is different since he is gone.

But, these flowers coming up faithfully every year reminds me of the faithfulness of God, too.  He is faithful in His promise to never leave me nor forsake me.  I know He has been with me every step of the way through my widowhood.

One of these days, He will be faithful to take me to heaven, too.  Revelation  21:4 says, "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away."  I can hardly wait for that time!  I will no longer cry for the sorrow of missing Tim.  What a grand and glorious day that will be!

There’s coming a day when no heartaches shall come
No more clouds in the sky
No more tears to dim the eye
All is peace forever more
On that happy golden shore
What a day, glorious day that will be

What a day that will be when my Jesus I shall see
When I look upon His face the one who saved my by His grace
When He takes me by the hand and leads me to the promised land
What a day, glorious day that will be

There will be no sorrows there
And no more burdens to bear
No more sickness and, no more pain
No more parting over there
And forever I will be with the one who died for me
What a day, glorious day that will be

What a day that will be when my Jesus I shall see
When I look upon His face the one who saved my by His grace
When He takes me by the hand and leads me to the promised land
What a day, glorious day that will be

What a day that will be when my Jesus I shall see
When I look upon His face the one who saved my by His grace
When He takes me by the hand and leads me to the promised land
What a day, glorious day that will be

Even so, come, LORD Jesus!
