Today's Sewing Project

Tim needed water for the office coffee pot that he used each morning and I also needed to find some new burner drip pans for the stove in the fellowship hall, so I took a trip to Walmart this morning and picked up a few other items while I was there.

When I got back home, I started working on a project for the church nursery.  The large tote that we keep most of the big toys in has broken and/or cracked places all over the bottom.  I found a bigger tote at the thrift store yesterday for $2.  I decided that I would make a liner for it.  So, that was my sewing project for today.
The tote.

I took some measurements from the tote to make my pattern pieces.

After I got one end piece cut out, I matched up the pattern on the material and cut another end piece out.  You can see the pins.

Here's a closer view.  After pinning, I cut around the edge to make the second end piece.

I got all of the pieces cut out and now I can sew it together.

Voila!  Here's the finished product!  I made the sides long enough to flip over the top edge.  I sewed a casing in the edge and ran a string through it so it could be tightened to keep it from falling into the inside.  The string doesn't work very well.  I may end up having to thread some elastic through the casing.  We will see how it holds.

I really like how it turned out.  I got this material at the thrift store quite a while ago.  I had some material left over, so I am going to make some pillow cases for the little pillows that are in the nursery without covers on them.  If I have enough, that is.

Alas!  No bird pictures today!

Tim was feeling better today.  He slept so much yesterday afternoon that he didn't sleep well last night.  He took a shorter nap today, too!  Maybe we have turned a corner and he will begin to improve!  Thank You, Lord!

Time to read!  Nite!
