Well, today is a day for celebrations! I posted my 10,000th post at Digitals today! WOOHOO! And that is what my page is about today!

I don't know if we still have birthdays in heaven or not, but today would have been dad's 81st birthday. Happy Birthday, dad, if you are listening! I love and miss you!

Tim and I got back from the outer banks at approx. 11:40 this morning. Actually, we weren't traveling from the outer banks. We were staying in Greenville, NC which is 2 1/2 hours away from here and Greenville is 2 hours away from the ocean. So that means that we live 4 1/2 hours away from the beach which means we live closer to Myrtle Beach than to the outer banks of NC. It took DH only 4 hours to get to Myrtle Beach on Thursday. That is less time than it takes us to get to our nearest child who lives in WV. Anyway, it feels really good to be back home, even though I have had a wonderful week with Susie and Glen and then DH and I have had a fantastic last couple of days.

Plus this is time change weekend so I get one more hour of sleep tonight! YEAH!

Today we got up, showered and left by 7:30 and headed to the outer banks. It was a 2 hour trip. We stopped at Food Lion when we arrived and got a club sandwich, chips and drinks for lunch as we had not eaten breakfast yet. We ate when we got to the Wright Brothers' Memorial. After we saw everything there, we headed for Cape Hatteras Lighthouse. On the way we stopped at the Bodie Lighthouse. I got the idea of taking several angles of the lighthouse from a gift shop we were in. I plan to do one like this for the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse, too. Also for the Wright Brothers' Memorial. We headed back to Greenville around 5:00 and stopped at Plymouth and ate supper at a Mexican Restaurant, but the food was disappointing. We got back to the hotel at about 8:15. It was a great day!

Today Susie and I parted ways as DH picked me up and we headed north to the outer banks region of NC.

Susie and I went back to the beach this morning to capture sunrise pictures. We hit the jackpot! While we were there, we took more pictures of our "clothed" feet, lol! Then I wrote in the sand, which turned out to be hard to read.

What a great week we had together. Christian friendship is a priceless gift God gives His children! Thank You, Lord!

Before I begin journaling for today's post, let me "speak" to Karabeth.......
While I do like to create silly poetry, the poetry for de'Feet pages this week has been by my friend, Susie, who is the owner of the second set of toes seen in the pages this week.
Also, in response to our "conversation" about Friendship Baptist that we have attended while here at Myrtle Beach......the current pastor has been there 2 years. He was on staff before the former pastor (whom I assume is the one you were familiar with) died and then became the pastor in his stead. So, it could very well be that you still know this young man. I am "assuming" that he was the assistant pastor, perhaps??

Today's weather was MUCH improved over the weather we had on Monday and Tuesday. We actually saw some sunshine! Lots of clouds, too, but enough sunshine to give Susie and I a nice pinkish red (and kinda touchy) color. There were a few more people milling around the outside pools today. We used some of those noodles to keep us afloat, even though the water is no deeper than 4 feet, but mostly 3 feet. The wind was still a little bit chilly, especially if you were wet and the sun was NOT shining!

Susie and I have had lots of good conversation this week and I realize how much I miss her Christian friendship. I'm so glad Tim (not to mention Glen, Susie's husband) let me come and spend the week with her. Oh, the fun, food and fellowship we have shared!

Tomorrow we will try to capture the sunrise! We at least learned from our experience on Monday that we don't have to get up quite so early tomorrow! And Tim will be here later in the morning to pick me up and we will head back up the coast to the outer banks region of North Carolina.

It was cloudy and cool today, but no rain until 8 p.m. Glen, Susie's husband, finally got to golf today. While he golfed, we went to the pool. There wasn't anyone around when we first got there. We went to the inside pool since there was a chill to the air. Then we went to the hot tub for awhile. It is really too hot for me (104 deg.), but since the air was cooler, I sat on the first step in the water and it didn't feel too bad. Then we went back to the inside pool for awhile until we needed to leave to get back for showers before Glen got back. Then we left for dinner at Bob Evans, my treat for repaying Susie and Glen for their kindness in bringing me with them to Myrtle Beach. It has been really nice being with Susie. I guess Glen is surviving! :)

Rain, Rain, GO AWAY!!!! I guess you can tell it is raining and cold here today! :)
And, of all things, Susie and I planned to get up early so we could go to the beach to capture sunrise pictures. Well, the rainy weather messed that up, but even further, we messed up getting up that early when we didn't have to! After getting up this morning I checked the internet to see when the sunrise was going to happen so we would be sure not to be late! 7:28! WHAT! Not possible!

Since we had plenty of time to kill, we decided to take care of our Bible reading/studies BEFORE going to the beach. At 6:50 we walked out the door. The air was a bit chilly, but not too bad.....til we got to the ocean! The breeze was pretty nippy there! Dawn happened, but the sunrise did not! So we took a few pictures and then left. We went to look for a grocery store while we were out to pick up a few things. Then came back "home." Later, if it keeps on raining so that Glen cannot go golfing, we plan to go to the shopping center close by to "hang out" for something to do.

Today after church and lunch, Susie and I went to the pool. It was chillier today than yesterday, but, surprisingly the water was pretty warm! We only went in to our waist and just soaked up the sun, which was really pretty hot! But, felt really good! Susie got in one of the hot tubs for awhile, but it was just too hot for me! I got in, snapped a picture and got right back out! WHEW! The water temperature was posted as being 104 degrees! We moved from the hot tub area back to our lounge chairs for awhile. Then the sun went behind the clouds and the breeze was a bit cool, so we moved to the indoor pool area. The humidity in the pool area felt pretty good today! We sat there long enough that we started getting sleepy, so we decided to pack up and come back home, which was just up the street within walking distance.

Another busy day for us today. We left the resort at ~ 10 this morning. Our first stop was AC Moore, Dollar General and a Used But Not Abused thrift store. These 3 stores were in the same shopping center. Next, we headed to the beach to create our "sand witch" as seen in my layout. Then we wanted to find out what time the Pier 14 restaurant opened for breakfast, hoping that we could arrive early enough to get some sunrise pictures from the pier and then eat breakfast there. However, the restaurant is not serving breakfast any longer and doesn't open until 11 a.m. So, I'm not sure what we will be doing to try to get some sunrise pictures. The next item on the agenda was to search for a church to attend tomorrow. We couldn't find anything, so we headed back to the resort to eat our lunch. While there Susie's husband, Glen, looked up churches in the phone book. After lunch we headed out to find the church we had decided upon. After we found it, we came back and went to the main office building where the pools are located and checked them out. On Monday Susie and I will probably hang out at the pool while Glen goes golfing. After we got back in our villa, we (Glen) put the chicken alfredo in the microwave to cook for our supper. It was very good! Tomorrow we will eat Lasagna! YUM!

Glen and Susie got to the house at 10:30 this morning to pick me up. It was about 11 before we got on the road again. We arrived here (at Myrtle Beach) around 4 and unpacked, etc before heading back out to find Walmart (of course!) and AC Moore. Tomorrow we will scope out the area for a church to attend on Sunday. It has rained off and on today on the trip and after we got here. But the temperature is very mild and pretty humid!

I was going to do some designing to finish up my weekly project due for my designing class, but my mojo is out the window! So, I'm going to bed! Maybe tomorrow!

Today has been a busy day. I have been working on my computer files cleaning them up, sorting, etc, in between loads of laundry and dishes. I didn't do the dishes after supper last night with it being church night and then I didn't feel like doing them after we got home, so I let them soak til today. So I had 2 loads for today! While I up to hang a dryer load, the shadows of the sun setting over the field next door caught my eye out the window. So, I dropped what I was doing and took the camera out to snap some pictures. Well, the picture I saw in the house wasn't so dramatic once I was outside. I ended up walking around the church property looking for something interesting to photograph. It was beautiful out today. The birds were really busy. I spotted a cardinal and tried to get a good picture but when I raised my arms to snap the picture it flew into the thicket. I tried to get closer, but it didn't want to cooperate with me! Cardinals are so pretty! I don't think it is just because red happens to be my favorite color, either! The markings are beautiful! I still think our Lord is the most famous artist! How blessed I am to have eye sight to enjoy His wonders! Thank You, Lord!

I had some errands to run today and had some groceries to get, too. Our mail is delivered pretty late in the day. It was 2:30 to 3:00 when I got back and the mail was just getting there. And the chances are usually pretty good that she will be delivering a package of reading material for Tim. Between birthdays and Father's Day and Christmas when the kids load him up with Amazon dot com money, he keeps the books coming!

The story on the layout is only a part (the clean part) of the total story. We received a package in the mail from someone (I'm not going to mention any names because I do not want any undo embarrassment put upon them) that was filled with these chestnuts. In the package were instructions on how to toast them in the oven. We received them on Saturday, Oct. 17th. Since we had just gotten back from being gone all last week, I was busy doing laundry, etc. and didn't take the time on Saturday or Sunday to mess with them. So I just left the opened box on the kitchen counter.

Today, as I was cleaning up the kitchen I moved the box to wash the counter off. Well, to my disgust there was a little white mag....... (I can't even bear to say the word!) under the box. I was confused as to how in the world it got there especially since there was no food around anywhere and I hadn't seen a fly in the house for quite sometime. So I killed it with a shiver going down my spine (as I shiver now just thinking about it!) and that was the last I thought of it.....for a few minutes.

I got a pan to spread the chestnuts out in to get them ready to roast in the oven. After getting them spread out in a single layer, I sat at the dining room table to make my "X" in the shell so the chestnut wouldn't explode in the oven. No too long into the job, I saw another mag......! Well this was just too much! I had noticed a couple of the chestnuts had little round holes in their shells, but they were such small holes that I didn't think this mag....... could get in or out of it, but I was still leery! I finished marking my "X's" (which took over an hour to do) and put the chestnuts in the oven. I took them out when they were done and set them aside to cool.

Later in the afternoon I decided to go ahead and crack them all to get them ready for the freezer. Well, what I discovered upon cracking the shells were very dark looking nuts. Several were rotten. When I broke the nuts to have a look inside, I discovered immature mag..... embedded into most of the nuts! YIKES! The WHOLE batch went into the trash, as much as I hated to do it after spending all that time on them! Tim and I had tasted of one that was not dark but we didn't think they tasted all that great, so I am soooooo praying that nothing was embedded in that one! No more chestnuts for me, thank you very much!

As DH would say, "It takes a REAL man to wear red!" Well, I've got me a REAL man for sure now, lol! I have to say red is my favorite color, and I think Tim looks good in red, too! You can't tell from the picture of the two of us together, but since he was wearing his new red shirt, I decided to wear my red skirt, too! What a great looking couple we were today! :)

October 12 - 17

Well, I am back from our week in Southeastern West Virginia, Talcott, WV to be exact. Unfortunately, it was not a week that we could arrange to go to/meet our daughter and grandchildren who live in WV. Just not enough hours in the day and they were too far away. But, even though it rained everyday, and it was a cold rain (with the possibility of snow showers today) we had a good week. We arrived between 3:30 and 4:00 on Monday afternoon. The pastor of the church where Tim was preaching the Revival meeting was still in the hospital from where he fell and fractured his hip. So, Bro. and Sis. Thompson were the ones who entertained us all week. She worked on Wednesday and Friday but was able to meet us for supper on those days at least. On the days she didn't work, she went with us on our excursions that Bro. Thompson took us on each day. The only thing we did on Monday was go out to eat for dinner.

And while it was a good week, it is good to be back home in my own bed!

We leave tomorrow to spend a week in Talcott, WV as DH will be preaching a revival Monday thru Friday. We will be staying in a log home by the Greenbrier River, so we are hoping to be able to spend some time in a boat or canoe on the river (if we can round one up!). I don't like packing this time of the year because you never know how the weather will end up. So you have to pack twice as much to make sure warm and cool conditions are covered! Oh well! Such is life! Guess this will be another busy week!

I'm in another designing class for 6 weeks. This is the first week of class. By the time we finish the class we will have one complete kit ready to "sell." The first assignment was to choose a color palette and create plain papers. So, here is a sneak peek at what I finished today on the plain papers!

Happy Birthday to me! I had a wonderful day today! It started out with Tim fixing me breakfast! At 9 am we left for our adventure of seeking colorful leaves up in the mountains. We first went to Chimney Rock, altitude of 2280 feet. No more color there than here, which was a disappointment! We enjoyed a picnic lunch at a picnic table along the road as we headed out of the park. Next we traveled 1 1/2 hours north to another state park, Mount Mitchell. 6684 altitude with LOTS of color! It was very pretty! We were pleased! On the way home we ate at Bob Evans. We arrived back home at 7 pm. When we got home, we found this beautiful bouquet sitting on the back porch. I thought at first it might be from Jessica because she sent me a bouquet last year. But it was from a couple of the ladies from church. How sweet of them to do this! I got to talk to all of my kids today, too! My sister and brother called, too! Lots of birthday wishes from Facebook friends and Digitals friends. I also got coupons for free digital kits from different places! So, tomorrow I will go shopping! :)

Well, I think you can tell from my page for today that I did some grocery shopping! The first thing I had to do was get gas (at $2.319/gal) at Walmart and then I had to run to the post office to get some one cent stamps and some post card stamps. On the way back I stopped at Aldi to pick up just a few things and had to stop at Walmart because the bananas at Aldi were as green as gourds! I won't buy them like that because one time I bought them green and they never did ripen. After 2 weeks I ended up throwing them away! That aggravated me! It was almost as bad at Walmart today! The ripe bananas were not in bunches, but single! Anyway, I'm going to have to start comparing the Aldi prices with the Walmart Great Value prices because the 20 oz. loaf of bread at Walmart was cheaper than the 16 oz. loaf at Aldi! And there are some things that Aldi does not carry, like soy sauce and decaf tea bags. So, if I'm gonna have to stop at Walmart anyway I might as well make the most of it!

Another cool and dreary day outside today. And since my line of thought the last couple of days has been the cool weather and my seeking warmth, I decided to talk about the added layer of warmth to our bed. Not to mention that the colors of the blankets go nicely with this quick page of Amanda's! I don't remember it getting this cool this early last year. But, I figure we will have an Indian Summer soon. Did you know that officially the weathermen don't call a warm-up in the Fall "Indian Summer" unless there has been a heavy frost? Tim told me that today. Well, we haven't had a frost yet. But, I know some areas of the country have had.

BRRRR! It has been chilly in the house today because it is chilly and damp and drizzly outside. So I wore jeans and a sweatshirt and also wore shoes and socks in the house for a change! I am trying to leave the heat off as long as possible!

I walked outside today and found a nasty looking mass of mushrooms growing out in the front yard. Reminded me of a brain! Tim saw it from a distance and thought it was a cat or something crouched by the bush. Neither of us remember it being there and it seems to have sprung up over night! I need to surf and see what causes mushrooms to grow. It's probably got something to do with the damp, cool weather.

Well, our busy week is history now. What a wonderful week of revival services! Well, Wednesday thru today, anyway. We had dinner at church and then an afternoon service following. Then no service tonight. We had left overs from the Pastor's Fellowship on Monday. Plus we added a few items for variety and still had tons of leftovers! There were several people who were out or didn't stay for the dinner as usual, so that is why we had so much left over! We sent most of it home with one of the women of the church who has her nephew and his 4 kids living with her. I'm sure the leftovers won't last long at their house! I remember how glad I was to receive the left overs from a church dinner when the kids were small and the budget was tight. It was such a blessing! What is seen in the picture below is only about half of what they ended up taking home! Their problem would be where in the fridge would they find the needed room to store it!

I put out my Fall basket that I put together last year. I got all of the pieces at AC Moore when they were having a sale last year. I may have paid $7 for everything! I LOVE Fall with its beautiful colors! I've got a few other things I will work on setting around the house next week.

It was very nice outside today. I took several pictures of the leaves, berries, etc. I also took a picture of these 2 bales of hay that have been sitting in the field next to the house all summer long. They look different depending on the angle you look at them. From far away, they are almost obscure in the hay that has grown up around them. But when you get pretty close to them, they look like they have more of a personality. To me they look forlorn, and like they are wishing someone would do something useful with them. They appear to be waiting for someone to move them. I wonder what will happen to them when it is time to mow again? Can livestock still eat them? Or will they be used for something else? Or will they just be burned or thrown away? I don't know.

What are you doing with your life? Are you just sitting in a "field" somewhere, wasting away and not knowing what is going to happen today, tomorrow, next year? As Christians, we need to be "about the Father's business." And that means different things for different people. God created us all with different talents and abilities so that we could do our work for him in such a way that would bring honor and glory to Him. Are you working away from home? Do it to the best of your ability. Are you raising a family? Make sure you raise them "in the fear and admonition of the Lord." Are you single? Be single to the glory of God! Are you a grandparent? Use your godly influence at every opportunity with your grandkids. Our lives that we live every day are to bring honor and glory to our God. When you are moved from this earthly field to the heavenly field, are you deeds going to bring you rewards and will God be able to say, "Well done, thou good and faithful servant" or will our deeds all be burned or thrown away because they didn't please Him and didn't bring honor and glory to Him? I know some of my deeds will be burned up. I pray the things I do for Him are pleasing and bring honor to Him, but it is something I have to keep in check every day.

Tonight's message was on Prayer. God's people don't pray the way we should! Effectively and fervently. DH and I committed ourselves to pray more. I told him I didn't think our church would ever grow if we didn't pray more. I'm looking forward to seeing what God is going to do!

There were a couple of chicken breasts and some pieces that we couldn't squeeze into the freezer bags to save for Sunday's dinner, so I put them in the fridge. But first, I decided to make BBQ out of them, which is what the recipe called for anyway.

Today, while cutting the ham off of the bone for the Pastor's Fellowship meeting, I sliced my finger! What a nuisance that was all day! Trying to work in the kitchen at the church and holding my index finger out of the way, lol! That and your thumb are probably the 2 most used fingers on the whole hand! By the end of the day I had scratches all over my thumb, too! Probably from trying to protect that index finger! WHEW! I'm glad the day is over! We had so many leftovers that we have enough food for Sunday's dinner, too! :)
