Excerpt: The Pursuit of God, The Human Thirst for the Divine, A.W. Tozer

O God, I have tasted Thy goodness, and it has both satisfied me and made me thirsty for more. I am painfully conscious of my need of further grace. I am ashamed of my lack of desire. O God, The Triune God, I want to want Thee; I long to be filled with longing; I thirst to be made more thirsty still. Show me Thy glory, I pray Thee, that so I may know Thee indeed. Begin in mercy a new work of love within me. Say to my soul, "Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away." Then give me grace to rise and follow Thee up from this misty lowland where I have wondered so long. In Jesus' name. Amen

Memorial Day Weekend With Family

My sister, Kim, arrived from Florida around 9:45 a.m. on Friday.  Michael and his family arrived late afternoon, as did Tim's mom and sister, Jeanne, and Jessica and her family arrived early evening.  We had supper at the fire pits, hot dogs, chips, and s'mores.

4-wheeler fun

After everyone left, Kim and I started working on desserts for Saturday.

On Saturday everyone went to Elisabeth and Brad's home for the day.  Lots of fun, food and family time!

Taco bar, YUM!

It was cloudy and rainy most of the day.

The Family Photo

Time for some games.....Gestures!

When everyone got tired of playing, Araya decided to entertain us!

Even Hank got into the act!

Ryan and Chance head to the woods on the 4-wheeler.

Fun on the trampoline.

It was pretty chilly and rainy, but the kids didn't care!  Brad got 6mil plastic for making a slip and slide.  The kids had a blast!

Just add water and dish detergent for a slippery slide!

Well, all that was necessary after the fun was over was rinsing the soap off!

Just a little photoshopping fun!

Even Brad tried it out!

When the soap was all gone, the oil was brought out!

The skies began to clear somewhat later in the afternoon

I took pulled beef BBQ, Manwich sloppy joes, the leftover hotdogs and chips, and fruit salad for supper.  No one was overly hungry.  After supper we played some Phase 10 until time to leave.  I was glad to hear everyone would be joining Mark and I for church on Sunday!

Michael, Jessica and Kara left for home before church began.  But we packed a couple of pews with the rest of the family!

Everyone gave Gram hugs before she and Jennifer headed home after the morning service.

After church, those of us who were left went back to Liz and Brad's to clean up the leftovers for lunch.  Then Jessica and family left for home.

What a great weekend!  It would have been perfect if Nathanael and his family could have come, too!  I'm so thankful for the family God gave to me!  Thank You, LORD!

Extra selfies with some of the family.  I didn't get most of my boys, however!

Remember or veterans and those who lost their lives for our freedom on Monday!

America, the Beautiful!

O beautiful for spacious skies,
For amber waves of grain,
For purple mountain majesties
Above the fruited plain!
America! America!
God shed His grace on thee
And crown thy good with brotherhood
From sea to shining sea!

O beautiful for pilgrim feet,
Whose stern, impassioned stress
A thoroughfare for freedom beat
Across the wilderness!
America! America!
God mend thine every flaw,
Confirm thy soul in self-control,
Thy liberty in law!

O beautiful for heroes proved
In liberating strife,
Who more than self their country loved
And mercy more than life!
America! America!
May God thy gold refine,
Till all success be nobleness,
And every gain divine!

O beautiful for patriot dream
That sees beyond the years
Thine alabaster cities gleam
Undimmed by human tears!
America! America!
God shed His grace on thee
And crown thy good with brotherhood
From sea to shining sea!
