Excerpt: The Pursuit of God, The Human Thirst for the Divine, A.W. Tozer

O God, I have tasted Thy goodness, and it has both satisfied me and made me thirsty for more. I am painfully conscious of my need of further grace. I am ashamed of my lack of desire. O God, The Triune God, I want to want Thee; I long to be filled with longing; I thirst to be made more thirsty still. Show me Thy glory, I pray Thee, that so I may know Thee indeed. Begin in mercy a new work of love within me. Say to my soul, "Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away." Then give me grace to rise and follow Thee up from this misty lowland where I have wondered so long. In Jesus' name. Amen

Mapping It Out

I decided to map out our bike trip we took yesterday, just to give you an idea of the trip.  Mark says it was between 40-50 miles in length.  Those of you familiar to the area will probably get more out of this than those of you who don't live in the area.  But for those of you who don't live in the area, I left the Wendy's at the top of the picture to give you a familiar landmark.  So, further to the left and more to the top of the picture is where the church is.  You can see the church in relationship to Wendy's in the second picture.  We live about 3 miles from the Wendy's.

Our trip began at the blue dot to the right of the picture.  That is where the house is.  We turned left out of the drive way, right onto Wallburg-High Point Rd..  Then we took a right on N. Old Greensboro to W. Lexington Ave. Extn.  We crossed 109 to continue on Old Greensboro Rd.  Then we took a right on Yokley Rd., which is the road Thom-A-Lex park is on that we take the kids to for feeding the ducks and geese.  Next is a right onto Ridge Rd.  Right on Midway School Rd. Left onto Concrete Works Rd.  Left onto Old Thomasville Rd.  Right onto Gumtree Rd. Right onto Friendship- Ledford Rd. Left onto Meadowlands, left onto Motsinger Rd. and finally, right onto 109 and back to the house.
Our trip of yesterday.

Our church in relation to the Wendy's in the first photo and shown here, too.  Our trip to church is about 8 miles when we are not picking up a couple of the ladies from our church who don't drive at night.

That trip is one of the many variations we are able to take for a quick fix on the bike!  We want to begin planning a bigger trip for fun!  Can't wait!

Have a great Wednesday!

Let's Ride!

Today was another beautiful day!  But, I spent it indoors knitting and straightening up the bedroom and patching a pair of Mark's work pants (fail on the patch, so I will have to sew the patch on!)

When Mark got home he asked if I had any plans for the evening.  He said if I didn't he was going to work in the woods again unless I wanted to take a ride on the bike!  Well, that settled that!  A bike ride it had to be.  I had supper in the oven, I just cranked the temperature down a bit to make sure it didn't burn while we were gone.  I donned my warm gear (thermals) and boots while Mark took care of the dogs.  Then he got dressed in his bike gear and we headed out for about 45 minutes.  It was so nice being on the bike again!  The air was chilly even with the temp being in the low 50's.  I was glad I had the thermals on!

I got a rough measurement of the width of this blanket to be approx. 53" wide.  It is only about 28" long, so I have quite a bit more work to do.  I still have a few more skeins of yarn left.

We ate supper when we got back from our bike ride.  Baked cajun salmon, baked sweet potato and rice and veggies.  All of it was cooked to perfection!

Well, it is time to call it a night!  Have a great Tuesday!

More Fun Things!

I found some more goodies at the thrifts that I will be doing some research on to see what I can find out about these new items in my position, if I can.  Feel free to share any knowledge you might have!

The first item reminds me of a fancy offering plate.  I love the scroll work in the bottom of the plate and the cut work along the edge.  I can't find anything engraved in it.  UPDATE:  THIS plate has the same design in the center, but the cut work is different than the one I have.

These tongs are unique with more scroll work in the tongs and the handle.  The inscription says it is zinc.  UPDATE:  You can see these tongs HERE.

Here is a serving spoon of sorts with fruit embossed in the bowl.  This is from Sheffield England.  UPDATE:  This same spoon is HERE.

This bowl has a handle with someone's name engraved in it and the date of 18.5.59 (May 18, 1959, I presume).  "Prata" is inscribed in it and a number, "Regia 90."  UPDATE:  HERE is the closest thing I can find that looks like the same type as the one I have.  THIS place is calling similar dishes "fruit bowls."

This is a 2-dimensional (?) picture.

I love Jim Shore's carvings and paintings.  And someone at Goodwill did not know this was an absolute steal at $1.00!  CHA CHING!!!

Here is another interestingly shaped box.  The embossing in the "roof" reminds me of the heart-shaped box I got last week, which I still have not found anything about.

And I'm not sure what type of boxes these are, but I have 3 or 4.  I'm thinking they might be wine boxes??  The others I have are painted with a wine bottle decoration is why I think they may be wine boxes.  Someone may have repurposed this one by repainting it, but I don't know for sure.  Besides this one, here's another repurposing IDEA.  And HERE is one repurposed into a love letter keeper.

And a wooden dish.  I think the word on it may be German.  The crosses are what caught my attention to this piece. UPDATE:  HERE is some information on "Oberammergau."  HERE is a plate similar to mine.

"Handarbeit" means handwork

It was another beautiful day today.  Only made it to the low 40's for the high, but the sun was nice and bright!  Asher enjoyed frolicking in the sunshine!

I ate lunch at Arby's while I was out and about today.  Love their Loaded Italian subs!

Thank You, Lord, for your watch-care over me throughout the day!

Have a great weekend!

Beautiful Day!

WOW!  I was totally surprised by the temperature this afternoon when I headed out to take my engagement ring for cleaning!  If I had even thought it was going to be so warm, I would have headed out a LOT sooner to enjoy the weather!  I didn't even wear a coat!  Just a flannel shirt with a T-shirt underneath!  Thank You, Lord, for the 50+ degrees with beautiful sunshine today!

Mark and I have been battling headaches all week.  Mine have been sinus related; his, too, probably.  But welding at work does not help his any!  Up until today mine has been behind my left eye.  Today it moved to my right eye, but was light compared to what it was behind my left eye.

It was a Ruby Tuesday kind of Thursday, And, a bonus for today was that it was a BOGO free entree!  So, I donned my upper partial plate and we took off to Thomasville when Mark got home from work so we could beat the busy supper hour.  I ordered my usual Hickory Bourbon Pork Chop and got a sweet potato and the salad bar.  The salad bar was so good that I made my meal out of it and brought the chop and sweet potato home.  Mark and I will share it for supper tomorrow night (Friday).  Double bonus.....the meal was free, thanks to a gift card we received for Christmas from Jessica and Terry!  Thanks bunches!!  This is the 3rd time we have eaten on the card and still have enough for another time!  LOVE the BOGO free coupons we get via email!

Tonight Mark and I are going to play some Sequence.  Have a great evening and great Friday!

Blood Moon

Mark helped me get some good photos of the blood moon last night.  Psalm 19:1 "The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament showeth His handiwork."

Liz had to go to school to do some work today even though the kids did not have to go.  So they spent the night with us.  Today (after being up late with the moon) we slept in til 9:30.  We got ready and went to IHOP for breakfast.  Then we went to Ilene's to visit for a while.  After we got home we cleared off the table, went to the storage building for paint, brushes and canvases and did some painting.  Liz came to pick them up and left around 4 because Ryan had a basketball game tonight.  It was great to spend time with them!

Mark and I finished this Thomas Kincade puzzle tonight.  The sky was the hardest.

Good Night!
