Excerpt: The Pursuit of God, The Human Thirst for the Divine, A.W. Tozer

O God, I have tasted Thy goodness, and it has both satisfied me and made me thirsty for more. I am painfully conscious of my need of further grace. I am ashamed of my lack of desire. O God, The Triune God, I want to want Thee; I long to be filled with longing; I thirst to be made more thirsty still. Show me Thy glory, I pray Thee, that so I may know Thee indeed. Begin in mercy a new work of love within me. Say to my soul, "Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away." Then give me grace to rise and follow Thee up from this misty lowland where I have wondered so long. In Jesus' name. Amen

Work, For the Night is Coming!

Yes, that is a great hymn of the Christian faith!  Mark 13:34 - 37 is an admonition for us to work for our Master like you would work for Him if He were still here because we do not know the hour or the day when He will return.  John 9:4 Jesus told the disciples, "I must work the works of Him who sent Me while it is day; the night is coming when no one can work."  He was all about doing and completing the work the heavenly Father had given Him to do.  And He was also our example of how we are to live and work in the time the heavenly Father gives us.

Mark worked at the fire pit area today (among other things) with Noah's help.  Noah came to spend the weekend because I was supposed to be out of town and watching the kids while Jessica and Terry took a trip alone this weekend.  I woke up Thursday sick.  Mark was not feeling great either, so I don't know if we picked up a bug from somewhere or what the deal was.  But when I was not better by Thursday evening, Jessica and Terry decided to take the kids with them as they were going to a Notre Dame game.  It was the first time for the kids!  Anyway, my stomach is still messed up today, so I'm glad I stayed home.  My headache is finally gone today.  Mark was better by Thursday evening, so I'm thinking my IBS was a big part of my problem!

So, Noah was going to be keeping Mark company this weekend, along with helping him with the roof of the shed and other stuff out in the woods.  And, after they finished working, we decided we needed to roast hot dogs and corn on the cob out at the fire pit and also have some S'mores!  We didn't wait for the night to come, but it came soon enough anyway!

Noah helped Mark get that new beam up along the outside
to hold the roof beams.  Now that it is up, Mark will be
able to work on the roof even when he doesn't have help.

Out at the fire pit area, Mark taught Noah how to
split wood.  It is a hard job!

WOOHOO!  Finally seeing a few changing leaves!

Piper crashes on the cool grass after Mark runs her
with the 4-wheeler.

Waiting for the coals to begin their work on the corn.
They were hungry after a hard day's work!

The stack of wood on the pallet to the left is the wood Noah
split today!

There's something peaceful and relaxing about watching
a fire and listening to the snapping and crackling of
the wood.

Time for some S'mores with flaming marshmallows!

After eating we cleaned up the area and headed to the house for showers and bed time.  Hope you have a blessed Lord's Day tomorrow!

Work, for the night is coming,
Work through the morning hours;
Work while the dew is sparkling,
Work 'mid springing flowers.
Work when the day grows brighter,
Work in the glowing sun;
Work, for the night is coming,
When man's work is done.

Work, for the night is coming,
Work through the sunny noon;
Fill brightest hours with labor,
Rest comes sure and soon.
Give every flying minute
Something to keep in store;
Work, for the night is coming,
When man works no more.

Work, for the night is coming,
Under the sunset skies;
While their bright tints are glowing,
Work, for daylight flies.
Work till the last beam fadeth,
Fadeth to shine no more;
Work while the night is darkening,
When man's work is o'er.
