Excerpt: The Pursuit of God, The Human Thirst for the Divine, A.W. Tozer

O God, I have tasted Thy goodness, and it has both satisfied me and made me thirsty for more. I am painfully conscious of my need of further grace. I am ashamed of my lack of desire. O God, The Triune God, I want to want Thee; I long to be filled with longing; I thirst to be made more thirsty still. Show me Thy glory, I pray Thee, that so I may know Thee indeed. Begin in mercy a new work of love within me. Say to my soul, "Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away." Then give me grace to rise and follow Thee up from this misty lowland where I have wondered so long. In Jesus' name. Amen

Spendthrift

Have you ever thought about this word?  Spendthrift.....made up of two words that, when used separately, have opposite meanings.  When you are spending money, you are losing money.  When you are being thrifty, you are saving money.  I looked up the definition to "spendthrift" and found this:  it is a noun and means a person who spends money in an extravagant, irresponsible way.  From dictionary dot com, the word, "prodigal" is associated with it. The Bible says in Luke 15:16 of the prodigal son, he "wasted his substance with riotous living."  He wasted it; squandered it.  He was a spendthrift.....not a thrifty spender!

Don't ask me where the thought of a spendthrift came from!  I did spend lots of money today, maybe that is where the thought came from.  However, I really was not wasting money on anything.  I took Ilene to Costco after we ate lunch at Olive Garden (hmmm....maybe that qualifies me to be a spendthrift).

I took Ilene back home and carried her groceries in and then left so I could go home and split up the meat I bought into serving-sized packages to freeze.  We've got enough meat for a couple of weeks now!  And the best part is that it was free with our Costco rewards!
