Excerpt: The Pursuit of God, The Human Thirst for the Divine, A.W. Tozer

O God, I have tasted Thy goodness, and it has both satisfied me and made me thirsty for more. I am painfully conscious of my need of further grace. I am ashamed of my lack of desire. O God, The Triune God, I want to want Thee; I long to be filled with longing; I thirst to be made more thirsty still. Show me Thy glory, I pray Thee, that so I may know Thee indeed. Begin in mercy a new work of love within me. Say to my soul, "Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away." Then give me grace to rise and follow Thee up from this misty lowland where I have wondered so long. In Jesus' name. Amen

Rain! What a welcome treat it has been! Not to mention the cooler temperatures that came along with it! Thank You, Lord! The steady kind of rain that gives the ground a good drink! And what a thirsty ground it has been, too! This area of NC was 5" below the normal for this time of year until this rain. Now we are about 1" below normal! I think that is what I heard! I know my flowers are all just about dead! I have very few left with green leaves! However, the oregano I got from a guy from church has done just fine all summer long with little hydration, rain or otherwise, lol! Good thing! That could be why my flowers are all dead! I mean well when I plant them, but it is hard to be out there taking care of them when I'm so busy in here making scrapbook pages! Oh well! :)

You're gardening philosophy sounds a lot like mine. I plant all these beautiful flowers only to blow kisses as I leave them to fend for themselves. And then I wonder why there's always a heap of dying vegetation everywhere around the yard! :)
