Excerpt: The Pursuit of God, The Human Thirst for the Divine, A.W. Tozer

O God, I have tasted Thy goodness, and it has both satisfied me and made me thirsty for more. I am painfully conscious of my need of further grace. I am ashamed of my lack of desire. O God, The Triune God, I want to want Thee; I long to be filled with longing; I thirst to be made more thirsty still. Show me Thy glory, I pray Thee, that so I may know Thee indeed. Begin in mercy a new work of love within me. Say to my soul, "Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away." Then give me grace to rise and follow Thee up from this misty lowland where I have wondered so long. In Jesus' name. Amen

Thanksgiving Gifts

I pray each and everyone of you had a wonderful Thanksgiving!  It is the truest of American holidays, but sadly people have totally forgotten where we came from and how God has and still is blessing our great nation!

A.W. Tozer said, "Gratitude is an offering precious in the sight of God, and it is one that the poorest of us can make and be not poorer but richer for having made it."  How true!  Compared to the rest of the world, even our poor are rich!  It is only by the grace of God that you and I, who live in this great nation, are even here instead of "there!"

The Psalms are about giving thanks and praise to the Lord for the mercy, grace and blessings He has bestowed on His people from the beginning of time.  Psalm 107:1-9 reads:

1.  O, give thanks to the LORD, for He is good!  For His mercy endures forever!
2.  Let the redeemed of the LORD say so, Whom He has redeemed from the hand of the enemy,
3.  And gathered out of the lands, from the east and from the west, from the north and from the south.
4.  They wandered in the wilderness in a desolate way; they found no city to dwell in.
5.  Hungry and thirsty, their soul fainted in them.
6.  Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble, and He delivered them out of their distresses.
7.  And He led them forth by the right way, that they might go to a city for a dwelling place.
8.  O, that men would give thanks to the LORD for His goodness, and for His wonderful works to the children of men!
9.  For He satisfies the longing soul, and fills the hungry soul with goodness.

Verse 1 - God is good to EVERYONE, the just and the unjust alike!  I am so thankful for His mercies!
Verse 2 - Christians need to speak up!  And we need to praise Him publicly!  It is the least we can do for all that He has done for us!
Verse 3 - God has people all over the earth.....north, south, east and west......the four corners of the world!
Verse 4 - These verses are referring to the children of Israel, but isn't it true that we all wander in the wilderness of sin?  We all need salvation!
Verse 5 - Hunger and thirst remind us of our dependence on God.
Verse 6 - Faithful God!  He always answers the cries of His children in our trouble!
Verse 7 - Just as He led the children of Israel to the promised land, He is leading us day by day!!
Verse 8 - Praising God should be the longing of our heart - to praise Him for His goodness!
Verse 9 - Only He can satisfy the longing in our soul!

Let's be thankful again, America!  Thanksgiving has become Turkey Day!  Don't forget to be thankful to the One who deserves our thanks!  Thanksgiving is a lifestyle, not just a day on the calendar!

Happy Thanksgiving to All!

Chicken for the chicken and dumplings in the pot and sausage in the skillet.

red potatoes, yellow pepper and red onion for the hash browns.

Noah wanted to be in charge of the potatoes.

Helper #1

Mark cooked the sausage and the fry bread in the soup pit.  Helper #2

I helped Noah with the potatoes and I cooked the eggs.

The bisquick did not work as well for the fry bread
so we will have to stick to the first recipe we used.

YUM!  Everything was delicious!
Bring on the chicken and dumplings.......LATER!
MUCH later!
It might be hard to tell, but the sink is full of bubbles.......
at least it is nice to know Noah uses soap!

Chicken and dumplings for supper

Delicious!  Noah said they tasted like Cracker Barrel's!

Enjoyment!

Lovely fire!

Hard to see, but the geese from the video are at the top of the screen in the tree branches.

Mark and Noah are chopping some more wood before they come to the house.  Noah has been a big help to Mark today!

Tomorrow we will do our Thanksgiving meal with Jenifer, Mark's daughter, and her family and her boyfriend and his 3 kids.....7 total, plus Mark, Noah and me = 10.

Thank You, LORD, for your wonderful works in my life!  Thank You for blessing this country!  Thank You for seeing fit that I was born in the land of the free!  Thank You for the continued freedom to worship You!

There are so many gifts we are given each and every day!  Most of them are taken for granted and we never think to give thanks for them.  This is a practice of counting my blessings, even the things I never stop to think about as being blessings!  I don't always get pictures to go along with the blessings.

One Thousand Gifts And More

Who doesn't want to experience abundant blessings?  No one.......said no one EVER!

I'm reading a book, One Thousand Gifts, by Ann Voskamp.  The premise of the book is if we want to experience abundant blessings we must look for them.  We must pay attention to the thousands of gifts that the LORD bestows on us every single day of our lives.......even in the days that you wouldn't COUNT as blessings normally!

We ALL need to learn to count our blessings!  Practice makes perfect, so they say.  So, I've already begun to practice looking for blessings, gifts from the LORD, in unexpected places.  Will you join me on this journey?  Not just my journey, but to begin one of your own?

Count your blessings, NAME them one by one!
Count your blessings, SEE what God has done!
God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work.  2 Corinthians 9:13
Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever.  Amen.  Ephesians 3:20, 21
Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.  James 1:17
The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy.  I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.  John 10:10
But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.  Matthew 6:33
You crown the year with Your goodness, and Your paths drip with abundance.  Psalm 65:11
But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.  Matthew 5:44, 45
