Excerpt: The Pursuit of God, The Human Thirst for the Divine, A.W. Tozer

O God, I have tasted Thy goodness, and it has both satisfied me and made me thirsty for more. I am painfully conscious of my need of further grace. I am ashamed of my lack of desire. O God, The Triune God, I want to want Thee; I long to be filled with longing; I thirst to be made more thirsty still. Show me Thy glory, I pray Thee, that so I may know Thee indeed. Begin in mercy a new work of love within me. Say to my soul, "Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away." Then give me grace to rise and follow Thee up from this misty lowland where I have wondered so long. In Jesus' name. Amen

The Way We Were

Do you remember the movie, "The Way We Were" with Barbara Streisand and Robert Redford from 1973?  I have always love the theme song to the movie.

Mem'ries,
Light the corners of my mind.
Misty, water-colored memories
Of the way we were.
Scattered pictures,
Of the smiles we left behind.
Smiles we gave to one another
For the way we were.
Can it be that it was all so simple then?
Or has time re-written every line?
If we had the chance to do it all again,
Tell me, would we?  Could we?

Mem'ries,
May be beautiful and yet
What's too painful to remember
We simply choose to forget.
So it's the laughter
We will remember
Whenever we remember...
The way we were...
The way we were.

Today, I've been looking at old family pictures of the kids while they were little and this song kept going through my mind.  I got a bit nostalgic and a little teary, too.  Yes, if I had the chance to do it all again.......I definitely would!

Thank You, LORD, for the wonderful mind You created so that we can hold onto those beautiful memories!
