Excerpt: The Pursuit of God, The Human Thirst for the Divine, A.W. Tozer

O God, I have tasted Thy goodness, and it has both satisfied me and made me thirsty for more. I am painfully conscious of my need of further grace. I am ashamed of my lack of desire. O God, The Triune God, I want to want Thee; I long to be filled with longing; I thirst to be made more thirsty still. Show me Thy glory, I pray Thee, that so I may know Thee indeed. Begin in mercy a new work of love within me. Say to my soul, "Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away." Then give me grace to rise and follow Thee up from this misty lowland where I have wondered so long. In Jesus' name. Amen

I'm Back Digi Scrapping!

Well, I'm not designing and I haven't been digiscrapping for quite awhile, either!  I have wanted to, but I just kept putting it off!  Then a sweet friend of mine invited me to follow her scrapping page on Facebook and that did it!  I jumped in!  I didn't realize how much I was missing it!

I have joined O'Scraps Cheery O's, the creative team for the store at O'Scraps.  That means I will be working with challenges and working with kits from the store to promote the designers.

Here are some layouts I have created this month for myself and the challenges at O'Scraps.  The layouts are linked to the designer's store.

If you are interested in following my layout production, click on "Today's Scrap" link on the right hand side!

I love the colors of Autumn! It is my favorite season!
I used lots of free pieces from several designers.
ETDesigns Autumn freebie
FoxySquirrel freebie butterfly
Kitty Designs Magical Moments freebie
MDGroot In the Garden paint elements

I used 3 different kits of Lynne Anzelc's:

Crown Him With Many Crowns

Before I get to another more familiar song we sun at the conference, I've done a few more scrapbook pages:

Crown Him With Many Crowns

Crown Him with many crowns,
The lamb upon the throne:
Hark!  How the heav'nly anthem drowns
All music but its own!
Awake, my soul, and sing
Of Him who died for thee,
And hail him as thy matchless King
Through all eternity.

Crown Him the Lord of Heav'n:
One with the Father known.
One with the Spirit through Him giv'n
From yonder glorious throne.
To Thee be endless praise.
For Thou has died for me;
Be Thou, O Lord, through endless days
Adored and magnified.

Crown Him the Lord of life,
Who triumphed o'er the grave,
And rose victorious in the strife
For those He came to save;
His glories now we sing,
Who died and rose on high,
Who died eternal life to bring
And, lives that death may die.

Crown Him the Lord of love;
Behold His hands and side,
Rich wounds, yet visible above
In beauty glorified;
No angels in the sky
Can fully bear that sight,
But downward bends their burning eye
At mysteries so bright.

Living Hope

Before I share another song we sang at the conference, I will share some pictures of our time with Liz and family.  They are still living in the camper and any chance to get out and away from it is good for them!  In the Lord's timing they will find the perfect place for them!  Hang in there, Brad, Liz and family!  Thanks for sharing your hot dogs and chips and smores with us!

Liz and I tossed the horse shoes around.

Mine landed in a heart shape one time.  Too bad it was outside the box!

Hannah on the 4 wheeler

Like mother, like daughter.

Mark has been working hard to put a roof over one of the shelters for eating under.

This shelter used to have a tarp on it, but the rain settled in the sags and tore it up.  So he is milling his own boards to fix a better roof and putting tin he has gathered from around the property on the roof.

Ryan drove the buggy most of the time.

Brad took Abby around on the 4 wheeler.

Hannah and Ryan

The adults in conversation.

Liz brought pumpkins for the kids to carve.

I gave Mark one of the bird feeders to bring down to the woods.  This Titmouse and a Chickadee made lots of trips to the feeder.

Abby enjoyed swinging on the swing set from her house.

Time to get the fires going for the hot dogs.  And, of course, there were smores, too!  What is a camp fire without smores?!

Liz melted the graham cracker wrapper to her skewer.

Time to light the pumpkins.

It was an impromptu visit, but we had a great time, even if it was just for a couple of hours!

Click on the title to listen to the song.  The chasm that lies between us as sinners and God was created in the garden of Eden when Adam and Eve disobeyed God and ate the fruit God forbade them to eat.  I'll never understand why God chose to show mercy instead of justice, but I'm so glad He did!  Without that mercy, we would all be headed straight to hell....do not pass go, do not collect $200!  STRAIGHT TO HELL!!  Hallelujah!  Praise the One who set me free!  Has He set you free?  Or are you still living in death's grip?  Trust Jesus to be your Savior before it is eternally too late!

Living Hope

How great the chasm that lay between us
How high the mountain I could not climb
In desperation, I turned to heaven
And spoke Your name into the night

Then through the darkness,
Your loving-kindness
Tore through the shadows of my soul
The work is finished, the end is written
Jesus Christ, my living hope

Who could imagine so great a mercy?
What heart could fathom such boundless grace?
The God of ages stepped down from glory
To wear my sin and bear my shame

The cross has spoken, I am forgiven
The King of kings calls me His own
Beautiful Savior, I'm Yours forever
Jesus Christ, my living hope

Hallelujah, praise the One who set me free
Hallelujah, death has lost its grip on me
You have broken every chain
There's salvation in Your name
Jesus Christ, my living hope

Hallelujah, praise the One who set me free
Hallelujah, death has lost its grip on me
You have broken every chain
There's salvation in Your name
Jesus Christ, my living hope

Then came the morning that sealed the promise
Your buried body began to breathe
Out of the silence, the Roaring Lion
Declared the grave has no claim on me
Jesus, Yours is the victory, whoa!

Hallelujah, praise the One who set me free
Hallelujah, death has lost its grip on me
You have broken every chain
There's salvation in Your name
Jesus Christ, my living hope

Hallelujah, praise the One who set me free
Hallelujah, death has lost its grip on me
You have broken every chain
There's salvation in Your name
Jesus Christ, my living hope...
Jesus Christ, my living hope
Oh God, You are my living hope

HALLELUJAH!  JESUS CHRIST IS OUR ONLY HOPE!!!

Christ, Our Hope in Life and Death!

I'm going to share some of the songs we sang at the Bible Conference this week.  Songs that truly blessed my heart with their message!  Please read the words and lyrics written below carefully!  Let them sink into your soul!

I got this information from THIS YouTube channel.  (Click on "THIS" to listen.)

Christ, Our Hope in Life and Death!

"What is your only comfort in life and in death?” For centuries, believers have learned the Christian faith beginning with that question. It’s the first article in the Heidelberg Catechism of 1563. Why start there? Because death is our common fate. Unless Jesus returns first, we will all die. To find comfort in life, we must know how we can face death. Hope comes only in trusting the one who died to take the curse of death and who crushed the power of death by his resurrection. “Christ has been raised from the dead” (1 Cor 15:20). That is the only statement that can transform how we live each day and how we prepare for our earthly life to end.

The hope of the resurrection spurs us to sing. That’s why a group of songwriters from Getty Music wrote the modern hymn “Christ Our Hope in Life and Death.” Like the Heidelberg Catechism that inspired it, this song is honest about death. There is no need to shrink back from mentioning death in our hymns, because we know the Living One who has conquered death forever. The Christian can sing hallelujah, because Christ assures us of our glorious future. Now and ever, we confess: “I am not my own, but belong—body and soul in life and in death—to my faithful Savior, Jesus Christ.”

LYRICS

What is our hope in life and death?
Christ alone, Christ alone.
What is our only confidence?
That our souls to him belong.
Who holds our days within his hand?
What comes, apart from his command?
And what will keep us to the end?
The love of Christ, in which we stand.

CHORUS

O sing hallelujah!
Our hope springs eternal;
O sing hallelujah!
Now and ever we confess
Christ our hope in life and death.

What truth can calm the troubled soul?
God is good, God is good.
Where is his grace and goodness known?
In our great Redeemer’s blood.
Who holds our faith when fears arise?
Who stands above the stormy trial?
Who sends the waves that bring us nigh
Unto the shore, the rock of Christ?

Unto the grave, what shall we sing?
“Christ, he lives; Christ, he lives!”
And what reward will heaven bring?
Everlasting life with him.
There we will rise to meet the Lord,
Then sin and death will be destroyed,
And we will feast in endless joy,
When Christ is ours forevermore.

Conference Wrap-up & Closing Comments

As you can see, we were kept quite busy!  But, it was a wonderful kind of busy!  And during the General Sessions, the music was so uplifting, Christ-honoring, and so very worshipful of our great God!  Hopefully some of the video I took during the singing will have small enough files that I can upload them here.  Sent chills up and down my spine and caused me to cry grateful tears some of the time.

The conference was very COVID aware and everyone wore masks (which they provided if you didnt have one) while up walking around.

These were some of the masks that were provided.  Joy tried to take a drink through the mask!  :D

These 3 pictures are from left to right across the platform.  They have their own orchestra, which was really sized down due to the COVID restrictions, but they still did a fantastic job!

This gentleman was the visionary behind the Shepherds Theological Seminary, I believe.  They presented Him with a Bible.  He said, "You've got to be old to receive this" and everyone laughed!

These are the friends (old and new) we went to dinner with Monday and Tuesday afternoons.

The worship team.  Marvelous singers!

Al Mohler was the only speaker who could not be there due to health restrictions during COVID, so we watched a message that he recorded to be played during his time slot.

This is NC Congressman, Mark Walker.  He used to be a pastor until the Lord called him into the political arena.  So glad for the Christians who serve in this capacity!

This is NC Justice Paul Newby.  I believe he is running for Chief Justice, but don't quote me on that!

We did not wear our masks while we were seated in the auditorium.

The pastor, Stephen Davey.

Unfortunately, all of the video I took is more than 100 mb in size, so I cannot upload them for you to listen to.  You will just have to trust me when I say the music was WONDERFUL GOOD!!!  Praise the LORD!

Thank You, LORD, for the opportunity to attend the conference!

Adult Children

The job of every parent is to raise their children to be God fearing, independent, hard working, law abiding people.  It is so rewarding to watch them through their adult life as they begin raising their family in the same way.

I remember the times I didn't like one thing or another that mom and dad enforced on us.....having to be home at 11:00 on a date night, for instance!  I used to say, "I'm going to raise my kids differently than the way I'm being raised!"  We think we are smarter than our parents.  But when we finally become adults with children of our own, we discover that mom and dad were a lot smarter than we thought!  And I have to say that I didn't raise my kids much differently than I was raised.

Everyone makes mistakes when they are raising their children.  But with lots of prayer, I believe the LORD can right the wrongs!  I know He has done that for me because I know I made LOTS of mistakes and bad decisions as a young mother.  Thank You, LORD, for Your mercy and grace!

This is my oldest adult grandchild with his mother, my oldest child.  He will be 20 in a little less than 6 months.  When I look at him and think about how old he is, it baffles me when I try to figure out how the time disappeared so quickly!  He visited his mom today and this is what Jessica said, "My adult boy came to visit and eat dinner with us tonight.  Proud of him for doing his own thing but miss him too!  Love you, son!"  And I love you, grandson, and pray only for the LORD's best for you and pray you let Him guide you every step of the way!

And, I, too, miss my children!  I don't see them often enough!  We communicate back and forth by texting or talking on the phone once in a while, but it isn't the same as having them here physically!  I would love for that aspect of life to be like it used to be where the children all stayed around and raised their families near mom and dad and where grandma and grandpa were a part of their everyday life, too.

I did a couple more digital scrapbooking layouts today.

This first one is photo-edited for a challenge at OScraps.  You turn your picture into a stamp (the black and white one) and then you "color" it with the original picture (basically).  The final result is the bigger picture on the left.  I like how it turned out!

Mark took these pictures on Friday evening when he was working down in the woods.

This was to be a busy weekend, but last week (on Tuesday) we found out that our grandson, Ryan, had been exposed to someone with the corona virus.  And since we were with him on the 10th, we decided we needed to cancel the activities we had planned for this weekend.  Friday we were going to have Mark's aunts over for dinner.  They both have health issues so we knew for sure we needed to postpone that get together.  Saturday Liz and family were going to come over and we were going to cook at the pits in the woods.  But rather than possibly expose Mark and I to corona virus (even though Ryan has shown no symptoms) we decided to call it off.  But Mark and I did eat at the pit on Friday and Saturday.

Friday, I fixed chicken stew for a late lunch.  Kenneth, who's family used to own the woods we bought, often comes to take walks through the woods.  He happened to be here when I took the chicken stew to the woods to eat with Mark, so we shared with him.

After I went back to the house, Kenneth left and Mark continued working on things at the pit.  He is working on a better roof for the shelter we ate lunch at.  After he gets more poles up and more cross bars on the roof, he will put tin on it.

Saturday, Mark went to the woods early.  He fixed scrambled eggs.  And I brought down some blue berry sweet rolls that I cut in half and cooked in butter.

Piper likes laying next to this fire pit because it generates a lot of heat out the sides.

The netting that is around this pit was given to us from Brad and Liz.  It works great and holds the heat in quite well, believe it or not!

If Piper is not laying near a heat source, she is laying in the sun to keep warm.

Mark stayed in the woods and I went back to the house after breakfast.

I also fixed supper at the pit.

Mark working on his chainsaw mill while I cook the chicken and veggies.

Waiting for the coals so I can start cooking.

YUM!  I had a hard time stirring the veggies without stirring them out of the skillet, but I only dropped one pepper strip into the fire!

We had a beautiful weekend.  The weather was cool, but beautiful!  Thank You, LORD!

And, praise to the LORD that Ryan is still well!

Monday through Wednesday Mark and I are going to attend the Shepherd's 360 Bible Conference in Cary, NC.  Tim and I went a couple of years and really enjoyed it!  I hope the ringing in Mark's ears doesn't hinder him from enjoying it!

Praying you all have a wonderful week!
