Excerpt: The Pursuit of God, The Human Thirst for the Divine, A.W. Tozer

O God, I have tasted Thy goodness, and it has both satisfied me and made me thirsty for more. I am painfully conscious of my need of further grace. I am ashamed of my lack of desire. O God, The Triune God, I want to want Thee; I long to be filled with longing; I thirst to be made more thirsty still. Show me Thy glory, I pray Thee, that so I may know Thee indeed. Begin in mercy a new work of love within me. Say to my soul, "Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away." Then give me grace to rise and follow Thee up from this misty lowland where I have wondered so long. In Jesus' name. Amen

Creeped Out!

Hello, Monday!  What an absolutely GORGEOUS day!  It ended up in the low 80's, but was a perfect day!

I got up at 7:30.  While cleaning up the kitchen, I listened to my Bible reading for the day (I'm listening to it in chronological order this year on Daily Audio Bible Chronological pod cast) and listened to the recap of the reading with Tara Leigh Cobble on The Bible Recap.

After getting the kitchen cleaned up, I started the laundry.  While waiting on the laundry, I cleaned up my email and read my Facebook notifications.

I also made the bed and emptied the trash from the bathroom and living room and kitchen.

I worked on the garden some.....watering the lettuce/chives container, tomatoes, peppers and basil.  One of the tomato branches broke from the weight of the tomatoes, so I cut it and stuck it on one of the pots on the deck railing, hoping that the constant exposure to water would help the tomatoes survive.  I'm hoping the plant will take root and survive!  The one that was in the pot was transplanted to live with the nasturtiums since it had developed a good root system in the pot.

I also trimmed back some of the basil that had flowered and grown so tall.  There are 4 peppers on the plant I will have to keep a watch on that they don't ruin.  I am removing the tomatoes from the vine as soon as they begin to turn colors hoping to keep the tops of them from splitting which has been a problem with just about everyone of them.

I made Mark a No-Crust Pumpkin Pie today using Stevia and almond flour instead of sugar and white flower.  He said it was good.  I won't eat any because I don't care for artificial sweeteners.  I forgot to take a picture.

When Mark got home from work, I went to the craft shed to play while he cut the grass.  I didn't get much playing done because when I opened my stamp drawers to search for some rubber stamps I was bombarded with hoards of ants!  BIG, black ants!  There were 5 or 6 queens hiding with them!  It was disgusting and really creeped me out!  I posted a short video below.

Please keep praying for Jeanne Day.  Jennifer told me today that Jeanne thinks she might have a fractured hip as her left leg hurts to even move it!  Jennifer said she has asked the nursing/rehab facility to x-ray it 3 times to no avail, so Jennifer is going to contact the doctor tomorrow to see if something will be done.

That is a wrap of my day!  Hope your day was a good one!  Enjoy the photos of mine!

The red canna lilies that I planted in the spring have multiplied and are blooming like crazy!

The grass still had dew on it when I took this picture.  Oh, what a beautiful morning!

The 3 smaller tomatoes are the ones I took off of the broken branch so I could stick it in the pot on the deck railing.  The worst thing to happen is that I have to fix them as fried green tomatoes!

This is the pot I put the broken branch in.  This picture shows 3 tomatoes.

This picture shows 3 more tomatoes.  So 6 tomatoes plus the 3 I removed.....you can see why the spindley branch snapped.

This is the plant the branch broke off of.  There are LOTS of tomatoes on it!

This is all new from the bottom of the vine.  I clipped off most of the original vine.  I wasn't going to succor this one, but I may have to for it to bloom.

There are 2 tomatoes on the last vine from the original plant.  Just as soon as they start to turn I will remove them and cut the old branch off.

This is the container that I grew the lettuce in.  The chives are finally getting to be a good size.  I need to find out when to harvest it and how to save it.

At Walmart last week I bought some pumpkin spice wax cubes.  I got this potpourri melting pot from Elisabeth after she got rid of her Americana stuff from their old house in Salisbury.  The dish had cinnamon potpourri in it, so I decided to add the pumpkin spice to it to mix the scents.  It smelled pretty good, but I'm glad I cannot smell very well because I think it would have been too strong for me!

The wax is melted by a light bulb in the bottom portion of the potpourri melter.

And last but not least, I present to you........ANTS!  They scurried away when I lifted up the rubber stamps.  They have been eating the cushion between the stamp and the wooden block.  Don't watch the video if you are easily creeped out.....like I was!  You should have seen me dancing around trying to stomp all of the ants when I dumped them in the floor!

And now I'll try to sleep without dreaming about ants crawling all over me!

Good night!  Have a great day tomorrow!

Happy Birthday Party for Greenlee

Happy Lord's Day!

After church this morning, we came home and I fixed some chicken in the toaster oven to go with our salads.

At 3:30 we left to meet Jenifer, Kayden, Jaxon, Adam, Davis, Presley, and Greenlee and some other friends and family members to celebrate Greenlee's 8th birthday.

Here she is blowing out all of her candles.

It was a beautiful day but it was hot in the sun.  Mark and I and Jenifer and Adam and a few others set up lawn chairs under the shade trees.  It was very nice!  I had a sweater on and was comfortable.

The trees were beginning to change colors.  I got a few pictures, but the sun was so bright that it washed out the beautiful red of the leaves.

This is a shot from where we were sitting under the trees to across the playground.  You can tell the leaves that are changing.

I zoomed in to see the leaves closer.  They look more orange here than red!

Fall is definitely here!  And I love it!  Thank You, LORD, for this beautiful season!

"While the earth remains, seed time and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease."  Genesis 8:22     Sounds good to me!

Hope you have a great week!

Autumn Flavors

Please pray for Tim's mom, Jeanne Day.  I got a note from Tim's sister, Jennifer as follows:

I have been meaning to email you about mom. She started getting sick around the first of September with a UTI.  Antibiotics didn't seem to help and I kept taking her to the doctor but they couldn't figure it out. She wasn't eating or sleeping and was getting so weak, she couldn't get out of bed.  The doc finally said get her to the ER and she was admitted.  She spent 8 days in the hospital getting treated for a bad kidney infection.  They moved her to a nursing home/rehab place because she's still too weak to walk.  She is getting physical therapy but still can't walk. I want to bring her home but told her she has to be able to walk at home.  I hope she gets better and can walk soon.  She is eating now more than she was at least.

Please pray that she will regain her strength so she can walk and then go home.  Thank you!

I saw a recipe for Pumpkin Spice Latte that I wanted to try.  I got the recipe here.  It turned out pretty good!  And, surprisingly, it didn't give me heartburn.....at least, not yet!

I've been under the weather for a couple of days now.  Started with a headache all day on Thursday, ending the day sick to my stomach.  I went to bed at 9:00, so you know I wasn't feeling well!

Friday was not much better, but I was able to eat towards the end of the day!  Went to bed at the same time Mark did.  Woke up off and on all night.  Finally at 4 a.m. I took some more tylenol and then again at 8 and got up at 9 this morning.  The headache was still there, but not so bad.

I went to Hobby Lobby for a couple of items, then to Chick-fil-A and then Walmart.  The lines at Walmart are RIDICULOUS!  I thought maybe I had skipped fall and was shopping on Black Friday!  OY VEY!  I stood in line for half an hour at least.  I was getting hot and that caused me to be sick to my stomach!

The headache finally went away sometime this afternoon, praise the Lord!

I fixed stuffed Mexican peppers for supper tonight.  The contents were ground beef, black beans, corn, onion, the tops of the peppers, chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, lime juice.  They were pretty good!  I'm surprised that didn't give me heartburn, too!

Tomorrow we have a birthday party to attend in the afternoon.  I'm going to fix some chicken and we are going to eat it on salad for lunch.

Well, that's about it for me.  Thanks for stopping by!  Have a blessed Lord's Day tomorrow!

Leaves, Bumblebees and Baked Potatoes

I love looking through the trees and capturing the beams of light from the sun.  The light and shadows are fascinating.  The lower the sun, the longer the shadows!

The garden is about gone for the year, but the marigolds are going strong!  And the bumblebees have really been enjoying them, too, of late.  I didn’t really see them earlier in the season.  Maybe they have been buzzing around while I was not around.

Baked potatoes (with lots of butter), I have found, are easy on my tummy.  And they are very filling and satisfying so I don’t get the snackies in between meals!

Gladiolus Bulbs

I received 6 gladiolus bulbs from my secret sister last year but I didn’t get them planted until this year.  Thank you, Sharon!

Apple Day

Araya is dressed for Apple Day with her red pig tails and red tank top!

Fall Ball

Araya and Thad both made goals in their first game of fall soccer!  Way to go!

Middle-Aged Women

This boy of mine!  We were having a conversation tonight and he suggested that I start a Facebook message with another mom a specific way, then he said, “trust me, mom.  I know middle-aged women.”  Is 41 “middle-aged”?

Joy in the Adventure

Ralph Waldo Emerson said, "It's not the destination, it's the journey."  And, when it comes to bike riding, I have to agree with that statement.

Someone added "Life" to this statement......."Life is not about the destination, it's about the journey."  I have to disagree with that statement, especially as a Christian.  It is both!  The destination and the journey in my life is important!  "And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment"  Hebrews 9:27    "For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord:  whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord's."  Romans 14:8  "Many will say to me in that (judgment) day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?  And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you:  depart from me, ye that work iniquity."  Matthew 7:22, 23

The choice you make in your journey of life to either accept or reject the sacrificial death Jesus made on the cross of Calvary determines your destination!  Have you realized you are a sinner?  We all have sinned and fallen short of God's glory, which is holiness, righteousness.  (Romans 3:23)  It doesn't matter if you or I think we aren't so bad.  "The fool has said in his heart, There is no God.  They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that does good.  The LORD looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God.  They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy:  there is none that does good, no, not one."  Psalm 14:1-3  We have all earned the penalty for our sins, death.  "For the wages of sin is death" Romans 6:23 tells us!  That's the bad news!  Thank the LORD, the story doesn't stop there!  Romans 6:23 finishes by say, "but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our LORD!"  Thank You, Jesus!  "God commendeth (showed) His love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us!"  When He was on the cross, I was on His mind!  Can you say that?  If you will put your faith and trust in Him, you will be able to say that, too!

I don't want to live my life (the journey) in any way that does not please the Lord!   It is a slap to His face every time I sin.  I don't want to disappoint Him, even though I do every day.  And, if you are His child, you don't want to, either, I hope and pray!  Living for and with Him is an adventure.....the Great Adventure!  The adventure of a lifetime!  And He wants us to have JOY in the JOURNEY!  Jesus said in John 10:9-11, "I am the door:  by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.  The thief (the devil) comes only to steal, and to kill, and to destroy:  I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.  I am the good Shepherd:  the good Shepherd gives His life for the sheep."  Are you one of His sheep?  I pray that you are!

Mark wanted to go to Ruby Tuesday Wednesday night since they were having their BOGO sale.  We rode the bike and were hoping to ride it to church, too.  Turns out we could have, but when we were leaving for church it was pretty overcast, so we didn't risk it.

There was still some blue sky on our trip to Ruby Tuesday.  LOVE these cloud pictures!

Not-so-blue skies by the time we finished eating.

I decided to make a page from a selfie I took on the way to Ruby Tuesday.  The word art I used is what triggered my thoughts for today.

Thanks for stopping by!

Are you old enough to remember "Oklahoma" the 1955 film?  This song was sung in that show!  I loved that show!  Click on the title below to watch a YouTube clip of the song.

Oh!  What a Beautiful Morning!

Song by Gordon MacRae

Oh!  What a beautiful morning!
Oh!  What a beautiful day!
Oh!  What a beautiful feeling!
Everything's going my way!

There's a bright golden haze on the meadow,
There's a bright golden haze on the meadow,
The corn is as high as an elephant's eye,
An' it looks like its climbin' clear up to the sky.

Oh what a beautiful morning,
Oh what a beautiful day,
I've got a wonderful feeling,
Everything's going my way.

All the cattle are standing like statues,
All the cattle are standing like statues,
They don't turn their heads as they see me ride by.
But a little brown mav'rick is winking her eye.

Oh what a beautiful morning,
Oh what a beautiful day,
I've got a wonderful feeling,
Everything's going my way.

All the sounds of the earth are like music,
All the sounds of the earth are like music,
The breeze is so busy it don't miss a tree,
And an ol' Weepin' Willer is laughin' at me.

Oh what a beautiful morning,
Oh what a beautiful day,
I've got a wonderful feeling,
Everything's going my way.

Oh what a beautiful day

Mark and I attended the funeral of his boss' dad today.  Mr. Yontz owned the company where Mark works before his current boss (the son) did.  We had gone to breakfast at the Wallburg Pizzaria and Grill before the funeral, so we decided to go to Olive Garden for a late lunch.

Our pastor and dear friend, Bobby Smith, also attended the funeral.  After the funeral in the parking lot he said if we were going to ride today that he would go with us.  We told him we were going to Olive Garden and he said he would go, too.  He notified Joy but she had a dentist appointment and couldn't go.  So we changed clothes and met Bobby at his house where we took the back roads to Olive Garden.

After Olive Garden, we rode to Clemmons, Mocksville, took US64 to Lexington, then Old US52 to home.  What a lovely day!  We traveled a total of 92 miles.  We left the house at 3 p.m. and returned at 6:48 p.m.  Thank You, LORD, for the beautiful day!

That bright spot is the beautiful sun.

Since we left so late, we his school traffic!

Bobby riding by himself today.

Heading for the back roads to Olive Garden

I always have to get a shadow picture....or two.

I love taking pictures of old buildings.

More old buildings.

I also love taking pictures of God's creatures.....donkeys.

More school traffic.  But, thank the Lord, we only had to follow this bus for a couple of miles!

A pond that is hard to see, except for the reflection.

An old silo.

At each stop light, we pulled up next to Bobby.

I also love taking pictures of our flag waving in the breeze!

We all had soup and salad with yummy bread sticks!  I could make a meal out of the bread sticks!  Especially while they are warm!

When we left, a couple of little girls were totally enthralled with our bikes.  They stayed on the sidewalk with their mommy watching us intently as we put on our helmets, got on the bikes, backed out of our parking spot and pulled out!  We waived and yelled goodbye to them as they waved goodbye to us!  So cute!  Future biker babes in the making!  😉

On the road again!  And you already know I love taking cloud pictures!  Look at the beautiful blue in that sky!

Bright, bright, sunshiny day!  Look straight ahead, there's nothing but blue skies!

Oh!  What a Beautiful Day!

Cattle.  They don't turn their heads as they see me ride by.

Yadkin River going under US64

I thought that line of clouds looked interesting.

Our shadow with Bobby's shadow.

Another song I thought of for today, fitting since we had thunder storms yesterday:

I Can See Clearly Now

Song by Jimmy Cliff

I can see clearly now the rain is gone
I can see all obstacles in my way

Gone are the dark clouds that had me blind.
It's gonna be a bright (bright)
Bright (bright) sunshiny day
It's gonna be a bright (bright)
Bright (bright) sunshiny day

Oh, yes I can make it now the pain is gone
All of the bad feelings have disappeared
Here is that rainbow I've been praying for
It's gonna be a bright (bright)
Bright (bright) sunshiny day

Look all around, there's nothing but blue skies
Look straight ahead, there's nothing but blue skies

I can see clearly now the rain is gone
I can see all obstacles in my way
Here is that rainbow I've been praying for
It's gonna be a bright (bright)
Bright (bright) sunshiny day
It's gonna be a bright (bright)
Bright (bright) sunshiny day
It's going to be a bright (bright)
Bright (bright) sunshiny day
Bright bright bright bright bright (bright) bright (bright)
Sunshiny day
It's gonna be a bright (bright) bright (bright)
Sunshiny day
It's gonna be a bright (bright) bright (bright)
Sunshiny day
It's gonna be a bright (bright) bright (bright)
Sunshiny day
Bright bright bright bright bright (bright) bright (bright)
Sunshiny day
