Excerpt: The Pursuit of God, The Human Thirst for the Divine, A.W. Tozer

O God, I have tasted Thy goodness, and it has both satisfied me and made me thirsty for more. I am painfully conscious of my need of further grace. I am ashamed of my lack of desire. O God, The Triune God, I want to want Thee; I long to be filled with longing; I thirst to be made more thirsty still. Show me Thy glory, I pray Thee, that so I may know Thee indeed. Begin in mercy a new work of love within me. Say to my soul, "Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away." Then give me grace to rise and follow Thee up from this misty lowland where I have wondered so long. In Jesus' name. Amen

Under His Wings

Happy birthday to my wonderful husband!  I love you!  I thank the Lord for you!

The book of Ruth is one of my all-time favorite books of the Bible!  Not just because it is a wonderful, unexpected love story between a man and a woman, but because it shows the love story of a God and His people.  A love story full of mercy and grace!  A love given to undeserving, wretched, sinful people who seem to delight in disobedience and waywardness.

The story might seem to be full of "coincidences," however, God does not work around the coincidences to make His plan and will.  No!  He controls the happenings that seem like coincidences to you and me.  Nothing takes God by surprise!  I would not want to serve a God who was not in control!  That's what makes serving the true and living God so different from the other gods of the world!  But, I digress.....

I began reading the book of Ruth during my devotion time with the Lord this morning.  And when I read Boaz's comment to Ruth when she asked him why he took notice of her, being a foreigner, and showed favor to her, I was reminded of how the Lord took notice of me, being a sinner, and showed favor to me (Romans 5:8).  ".....a full reward be given you by the LORD God of Israel, under whose wings you have come for refuge," Boaz said.  AH!  What blessings are represented by those 3 words, "a full reward!"  Salvation, forgiveness, hope, ..... and the list goes on and on and on.....!  Thank You, LORD, for taking me under Your wings of refuge from the powerful hold Satan had on my life!

Under His wings Hymn

Under His wings I am safely abiding,
Though the night deepens and tempests are wild,
Still I can trust Him; I know He will keep me,
He has redeemed me, and I am His child.

CHORUS
Under His wings, under His wings,
Who from His love can sever?
Under His wings my soul shall abide,
Safely abide forever.

Under His wings, what a refuge in sorrow!
How the heart yearningly turns to His rest!
Often when earth has no balm for my healing,
There I find comfort, and there I am blessed.

CHORUS

Under His wings, oh, what precious enjoyment!
There will I hide till life’s trials are o’er;
Sheltered, protected, no evil can harm me,
Resting in Jesus, I’m safe evermore.

CHORUS

Ilene called and invited me to come over.  I told her I had some things to do first.  I had some laundry to finish and dishes to get out of the dishwasher and had more to add. I had some other things to put away and by the time I got ready to leave it was almost noon.  So I called to be sure she was still home.  She said,  "want to go eat lunch somewhere? "  Well,  of course!

We went to Randy's,  where you can get the BEST  beef tips! I couldn't eat that, but I got the big portion for Mark's supper and a side order of fried okra and a slice of Texas toast.  I  planned to eat the mac-n-cheese and baked sweet potato.  My stomach was already iffy and by the time I got the potato eaten,  I couldn't handle the mac-n-cheese.  So I added it to the takeout box for Mark.

We had several loads of material delivered to begin working on the driveway and the front yard for more parking when the kids are here.

Mark got the first 3 loads spread out this afternoon  before he left for a T-ball game of Jaxon 's. My stomach was still messed up so I stayed home.  I pray this all ends when the antibiotic is gone!
