Excerpt: The Pursuit of God, The Human Thirst for the Divine, A.W. Tozer

O God, I have tasted Thy goodness, and it has both satisfied me and made me thirsty for more. I am painfully conscious of my need of further grace. I am ashamed of my lack of desire. O God, The Triune God, I want to want Thee; I long to be filled with longing; I thirst to be made more thirsty still. Show me Thy glory, I pray Thee, that so I may know Thee indeed. Begin in mercy a new work of love within me. Say to my soul, "Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away." Then give me grace to rise and follow Thee up from this misty lowland where I have wondered so long. In Jesus' name. Amen

Night Time Reading

Ilene and I were up early today to get ready for her doctor's appointment, which ended up not happening due to a misunderstanding. But since we were out and about, we decided to make the best of it by doing some thrifting. We went to a couple of consignment shops, too. I only found one blouse while Ilene found 3 dresses and a purse.
While out, we decided to have soup and salad for lunch at Olive Garden.

Ilene and I thrifted some more after lunch before going home. I worked on filling the bird feeders. Then Joy, Ilene's daughter came over and she visited for quite awhile. Then we watched a movie after Joy left. And since we got up so early, we were ready for bed early.

My nightly ritual is to spend time in my room reading before bed. I write a note about my day in a journal and then read my Bible. Sometimes I read from the fiction books I have been collecting. It depends on how tired I am. Tonight I won't be reading anything other than my Bible.

And with that being said, I'm going to say good night!

Heads Up!

I have been totally putting off writing on my blog since getting back from our Georgia and Florida vacation last Friday at just after 2 p.m.  I would sit down to write, but just didn't have it in me!  So tonight it is do or die!  :D

We had a super-fun time everywhere we went!  The time away got off to a shaky start.  If you remember I was sick, really sick, on the Wednesday before we left.  We were scheduled to leave Friday morning of February 9th.  But, I was still not eating much on Friday, so we decided to wait until Saturday to see how the food I ate settled!  Then everything was a GO for Saturday!  We were out of the house by 8 a.m.

Here's the agenda we had planned for the trip.  The only time restriction we had was to be back for Ilene's doctor's appointment tomorrow, February 27th.

1.  Spend a couple of days with Ilene's cousin, Rowena Iverson and her husband, Dave.
2.  Spend the rest of the time in Florida where we would stay with my sister, Kim.
3.  Also, Ilene would spend a couple of days with Buford's Aunt and cousin in Port St. Lucie.
4.  As we leave Florida, we would spend one night with Herb, Sam and Nadia Wilson in Mims.
5.  Last, but not least, we would spend some time with some "snow birds" from our church here in NC, Ed and Virginia Matthews, who spend 6 months of the year in FL and 6 months of the year here in NC.  (We like having them here, instead!)

Here are a few of the pictures from the trip:

Dave and Rowena Iverson.  We had a wonderful time playing a card game I had never played before but really enjoyed learning, "A Different Kind of Rummy."  Rowena's sister, Charlotte, spent some time with all of us, too.  We stayed with Dave and Rowena until Tuesday morning, February 13th.

On the road to Kim's.  We spent a lot of time in traffic.  We arrived at Kim's at 7 p.m.

On Thursday, I took Kim to her colonoscopy procedure.  She looks happy here.  Probably thinking about getting to eat soon!  Ilene went with Buford's Aunt and cousin down to Port St. Lucie in the afternoon.  I spent some time in Kim's back yard in the afternoon watching the wild life.

On Friday, Kim and I did some thrifting.  While we are at her house, I let her drive.  She told me to take her car to Alabama and tell Michael I didn't know how my car had morphed into her old car and that I needed him to give me another car!  :D

The first puzzle Kim and I finished.

On Monday, I went to Port St. Lucie to get Ilene.  We went out to lunch and some of the thrift stores in the area.

On Tuesday, I did a craft project with Pam's kids (Kim's grandkids).  Door knob hangers.

Tuesday evening we went to meet Buford's cousin, Bobby at this restaurant on the Banana River.

Wednesday morning, we left the house with Kim.  We headed to eat breakfast at Cracker Barrel forst.  Then we spent the day thrifting until time to go to Mims to attend church with Brother Herbert Wilson and his son, Sam.  We spent the night there.
The food from Ilene's breakfast.  I had the BLT with egg sandwich in the foreground.  Believe it or not, she was able to eat most of the breakfast!

This is as close as I got to a beach during our vacation.

Working on those muscles!

On Thursday, we saw the Matthews and headed to Savannah so the trip on Friday would not be so long.
Brother Herbert took us to breakfast before we left for Port Orange.

Ed and Virginia took us to lunch here.

Friday traveling the rest of the way home.  Saw the evidence of spring!

Unfortunately, I filled up the gas tank just before we came across this station.  I spent $2.32 per gallon!
We got home just after 2 p.m.  We were so glad to be back!  We did the laundry and put things away before going to dinner with the church family.  It's so nice to be back home!

Saturday, what a beautiful day!  Ilene and I took a walk in the evening on the road right next to her house.

Beautiful sunset!

Monday, today, February 25, 2018.  I went to the parsonage to get a few things and take pictures of the items I am going to give away to a girl who's house burned down.  I took pictures of the daffodils at church, too.

A puzzle Ilene and I finished tonight.

And, there you have it.  Lots of fun!  Many blessings!  Thank You, Lord, for the great vacation we had.  For safety You provided.
