Excerpt: The Pursuit of God, The Human Thirst for the Divine, A.W. Tozer

O God, I have tasted Thy goodness, and it has both satisfied me and made me thirsty for more. I am painfully conscious of my need of further grace. I am ashamed of my lack of desire. O God, The Triune God, I want to want Thee; I long to be filled with longing; I thirst to be made more thirsty still. Show me Thy glory, I pray Thee, that so I may know Thee indeed. Begin in mercy a new work of love within me. Say to my soul, "Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away." Then give me grace to rise and follow Thee up from this misty lowland where I have wondered so long. In Jesus' name. Amen

June 30, 2009

Well, after today the year is officially half over........already! My how times flies! And speaking of that, where did June go? It just buzzed right by! I got so far behind on my scrapbooking this month! This is strange (for this month, anyway) that I am actually posting 2 days in a row, it seems, anyway! I wish I could say that July looks more promising, but it doesn't! I will be getting ready for VBS the whole month!

Anyway, so much for that! I want to promote the challenges at Digitals today. There are a ton of different challenges to participate in. Something for everyone! And, the more challenges you complete, the more pieces to a terrific mega kit you earn! Today's layout is a small example of the kit I earned last month. This kit is called, "Eclectic Elegance" and you can buy it HERE. But, why buy them when you can get them for free! Know what I mean, Vern?!! :) So, check out the following links and why don't you try and play along this month. There are plenty of freebies in the store and around Digitals that you don't even need to buy anything to start! If you cannot see anything from the links, you may need to register in the forum, the store and the gallery. But it only takes a minute and it is free!

June 28, 2009

OK, I just posted June 23rd thru June 28th for my project. I hope you enjoy the pages. I do not know what happened this month! I can't keep caught up on anything! Probably had something to do with having company 2 weeks in a row! I just finished the last of the laundry (bedding) from those weeks. I am hoping July will be a better month, but I doubt it because I will be working hot and heavy on VBS stuff! Oh well! Such is life!

We have squash and cucumbers coming out the wazoo! One of the church members has been bringing us squash and cucumbers (shown on towel) and then last night a neighbor brought more to us. It was the strangest thing. He knocked on the door and Tim answered. The guy (30 something, maybe) said he had been watching Tim and knew he was a hard worker or something to that affect and said he wanted to give him some squash and cucumbers (shown on counter). Tim didn't want to offend him, so he took them. Tonight we took his gift to the church members to share, being certain to make the member who gave us the first batch understand that we weren't giving away the veggies he had given us! But, I had to get on the internet to find some squash recipes! And one of the ladies at church said she slices hers and puts them in the freezer. So I will probably do that, too! YUM! Can't wait to try that Squash Lasagna recipe I found today! :)

Today was visitation for church. I wore these sandals, which are very comfortable, but they give me blisters if I do not wear band aids! The band aid on my big right toe is protecting a blister. The band aids on my left foot are protection from getting blisters! What a pain!

Here is some more of my new kit I'm working on. The template and the journal doodle are Heather Watson's found HERE and HERE.

Today I did some VBS shopping. We picked up some big pieces of cardboard from Lowe's so I can paint some decorations to use in VBS. And I also bought a few items for some crafts. July will be filled with painting to get ready for VBS! You can see that I started some painting today. This will be hung in the front of the church as a promotion for VBS. The other pictures are just some miscellaneous items. I've been wanting to take a picture of some Queen Anne's Lace for awhile because I'm going to try to extract it for a future kit. And we also had some pop-up thunder showers tonight.

The page elements are from my kit I'm working on.

Today DH and I went to Stone Mountain, which is about an hour NW from us. It was so stinkin' hot, even though this is considered the mountains, which is usually cooler! Not so today! Tim had about 4 miles of hikes planned, but the first hike to Stone Mountain Falls ended that, especially after the trouble I was having climbing back up the 150 steps or so from the bottom of the falls! I can walk forever on the flat, but you add stairs and it kills me! Anyway, I ended up with a splitting headache from the heat and had to lay down for about an hour when we got home before the headache would ease up any! Other than that, it was a good trip.

Anyway, now that my complaining is out of the way, lol, I'll tell you about this page. I think it turned out very pretty, even though it is pretty simple. The page elements are mine from the new kit I'm working on, Sweet Summertime. The page layout is a template of Heather Watson's and also the journaling doodle, which is really pretty, I think. Following are the links to the Templates kit and the Doodles kit:

I forgot to take a picture for today, so at the last minute, here is what I came up with. These are the 4 pills I take every day, so while it may seem silly, I guess it is a part of my every day life, which is what the 365 project is all about!

Anyway, I'm not too excited about this page. Some more elements from my new kit I'm still working on.

Today I went to Aldi's to buy fresh fruits and veggies for "the diet" DH and I are trying to stick to! I am having a hard time, because I am not in diet mode yet, lol! Hopefully, soon I will be! Cuz I sure need it!

Anyway, I have been working on a new kit called, Sweet Summertime. But, after working with it I will probably scrap most of it, lol! I will be posting it on my designing blog, Today's Scrap, eventually for free! For now, just enjoy a few pages made with it!

Tim's To-Do list was a mile long today! One of the things on his agenda was to replace the old, old, OLD fluorescent light over the kitchen sink. 3 trips to Lowes finally got it fixed! We got those new swirly, long lasting bulbs for it. Boy, it was so bright you almost needed sunglasses when you flipped the switch! We took one of the bulbs out and put it in the ceiling fan fixture. Now my kitchen is as bright as the noon day sun!

Today I have spent my time catching up on my Project 365 pages. Now I'll have to get them posted to my Digitals gallery next! Hope you have enjoyed catching up from the last 2 weeks with me! WHEW! I need a vacation! :)

I was beginning to think I had not burned enough at the beach to peel......WRONG! I began peeling yesterday! I hate the itch while the dead skin is peeling! Sounds appetizing, for sure! Next time, however, I'm gonna rub that sunscreen all over! :)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my youngest son, Nathanael, who turned 24 today! Where has the time gone?! Hope you had a terrific day!

Well, I worked my fingers to the bones cleaning today. Not only did I have to clean the house, but I cleaned the church because the lady and her husband who usually do it are on vacation. My first mistake was not making sure the kids picked up after themselves yesterday before they left. But with taking them to the pool and trying to get everything washed and gathered together before we took them to meet Liz and Brad, I just didn't think about it! But, that's ok! At least most of the mess was confined to the dining/living room area. So, it didn't take too long to straighten things back up and put everything back where it belonged. It sure is quiet around here! :)

June 19, 2009

Another hot day, so back to the pool we go! We stayed for 2 1/2 hours and Ryan cried when we left! They all had pool toes and fingers from the cement.

After we left the pool at 2:30, we rushed home and I got them all in the tub and shower and washed up the last of the clothes so they would all be clean when they went home later tonight. Liz called at 5:00 and said they would be leaving in a few minutes. I finished getting the kid's things packed up and Tim carried it out to the car. Ryan was asleep in no time. Hannah followed shortly after him. I don't think Michael went to sleep, however. They slept for about 1 1/2 hours. We met Liz and Brad in Princeton, WV at 7:30. We loaded the kid's stuff to their truck, talked for a bit, went inside Bob Evans to use the bathroom and get some raspberry tea before getting back on the road to go our separate ways.

It was a good week! But, I am worn out! And the kids were, too! I was worried about how Ryan would do away from mommy so long. It is a good thing Michael was there to occupy him! I think it would have been good for Kara to have been there to play with Hannah. We will have to work on that for the next time!

Today, on Tim's day off, we took the kids to a park south of Winston Salem in Salisbury, NC. Dan Nicholas Park was a very nice park! The people at church told us about it last night at church. It would have been better if it had not been so stinkin' hot! :) But, that didn't seem to phase the kids any! It was well worth the money, too! The carousel was $1 each. The train ride was $1 each. The Wildlife Center and Petting Barn totalled $1 each. I think that is all we had to pay for. The 4 pieces of pizza cost $8. The corn dog cost $1.50. The drinks cost about $1.50 each! $15 and I was still hungry, lol! I'm sure Michael was, too! :)

But, the day was enjoyable even thought it was terribly hot! We saved the water splash area for last so the kids could cool off and Tim and I could just sit and watch. I was glad I had taken my umbrella along because there was no shade sitting there watching them! They all fell asleep on the way home and it was only a 1/2 hour trip! I'm sure we will visit there again!

June 17, 2009

Today is another rainy, dreary day outside. The kids have been pretty good about entertaining themselves while I do my work around the house. Tim hooked up the TV that used to be Michael's and fixed the DVD player to it and they have been watching Popeye and Little Bear and Elmo in Grouchland over and over and over and over again!

To change things up a bit, I decided we would do a craft. So, I pulled out some old T-shirts and turned them wrong side out and put them on the kids. Then I had them paint the wood pieces that I got at the $$ Tree (I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE that place!!!). We let that dry for several hours. Before bed time, we put a coat of glitter glue over the paint and I cut out the letters for "MY ROOM" for each of them and stuck them in the glitter glue and set them aside to dry. (The finished product is below the layout. I took pictures of each of them and printed and glued them and the frames to the boards later in the week. Turned out pretty cute!)

Today is too rainy and cool for the pool. So I took the kids to "Funigan's" playroom. There are all kinds of games that you feed tokens into (10 tokens = $2). Plus, I let Michael play a game of bowling, which was $3. To play on the "soft" jungle gym area, it was $2, which happened to be half priced today! The kids kept wanting me to climb on the play area with them because Liz, Jessica and I did the last time we brought them here. But, I told them I just wanted to take pictures instead and let them have all of the fun!

June 15, 2009

I am pleased with how late the kids are sleeping......8:00! That gives me time to get up and get ready before they are alive! The first thing they want to do is to eat! Ryan loves bananas! He asks for a banana anytime he wants a snack, which is quite often! But, he also loves cereal with marshmallows in it, and so does Hannah. Michael just loves food, period! It doesn't matter what it is! I got him some cocoa and peanut butter cereal. Smells pretty good! I have been tempted to try it, but haven't so far!

Today, even though it drizzled and messed rain all day, we went to the Bolton Park pool. It is a very nice facility! It has 3 little kiddie/wading pools that are joined together. The deepest area being 3 feet deep. There is a splashing water part with water spraying and splashing out of all kinds of towers, buckets, etc. The water is only 1.5 feet in the deepest part. And then you have an olympic sized pool with a huge diving board tower. We stayed away from that area! The kids had a blast! I'm sure we will be going back, weather permitting!

June 14, 2009

When we went to the beach on Thursday, Liz sprayed us with the kid's sunscreen. I thought to myself at the time, "Should I spread this around a bit?" but didn't want to mess my hands up and then get the sunscreen all over my camera, heaven forbid! :) So, I just let it go. Well, as you can see, I am now two-toned! And the darker, burned area is sore, go figure! Tim has some burn, too, and said to me, "I don't think that stuff of Liz's worked very well." Then I showed him my arm and said, "yes it did. You can see right where it wasn't sprayed is where I was burned." Of course, I wasn't in the water, either, but he basically was burned where the sunscreen had not been sprayed, also. When I showed Liz my two-toned arms this morning, she just laughed! She said that very same thing had happened to her, too! So, why didn't she tell us about it, is what I am thinking! :)

Today, after Liz and Brad and Anthony headed back to WV, I took the kids to the Tom A Lex park where there is a huge lake, picnic tables and pavilions, playground for the kids, and the ducks and Canada geese are everywhere!

While we ate a picnic lunch under the trees of pizza and cheetos, this gosling came strolling along eating bugs and looking for a handout. His momma kept a very close eye on him and us! After lunch we tried to play on the playground, but it was just too hot and the playground equipment was too hot to touch, so we just packed up and went home.

My DH, Tim, is the most patient man I know on earth! Not only is he patient with me, lol, but he is patient with his blind friend, Anthony. Tim helped Anthony obtain his ham radio operator's license by recording the hundreds and hundreds of questions and answers for Anthony to listen to and learn before taking each test.

Liz, Brad and the kids stopped by the house to spend the night before continuing their trip back home in the morning. We decided to go out and play some putt-putt. Here is Tim showing Anthony how to hold the club. Then Tim would point Anthony and the ball in the right direction towards the hole and let him go! Tim helped him swing the club and hit the ball at first. Anthony did almost as well as we did! Of the 4 of us in our group, he came in 3rd with a score of 47 on 18 holes! Not bad, if you ask me!

I'm back! After not creating or posting any layouts for 2 weeks, I was in withdrawal, LOL! So, sit back and be prepared to catch up on the last 2 weeks with me! In order to get caught up quickly, I used all quick pages. Credits are below each layout.

We went to Myrtle Beach where Liz, Brad and the kids were camping. If you remember, Tim's blind friend from WV has been spending the week with us. He thoroughly enjoyed the ocean! The water was the perfect temperature! One of these days I'll post some layouts with Anthony enjoying the ocean, but for now, here are my grandfish, I mean grandkids. :)

Today's weather was even worse than yesterdays with more rain. After breakfast, I got everyone ready to go to the grocery store for more milk and other items. The kids played while I worked in the kitchen.

Today's activities included:
Groceries, TV, running through the house, painting on wood, playing cards, playing on the computer, taking early baths for church, everyone spending the evening in the nursery at church because the scheduled worker did not come, more painting and TV before bed, bedtime story.

Lunch today was waffles. I happened to get in the freezer to put some groceries away and saw them. I bought them for the kids to eat this week and almost forgot all about them!

I decided this was a good day to do a different craft. I got these little boards at the $$ Tree to make plaques for their rooms for Christmas gifts, but that didn't happen. So, I decided it was a good idea for them to do them for themselves. I helped Ryan, but he did a much better job and made more effort than I thought he would. After church we added a layer of glitter glue and prepared foam frames and fixed the letters for "MY ROOM" for all of them. I will take pictures tomorrow and print to put in the frames, which we have not attached yet.

After we finished painting the plaques, Hannah and Ryan laid down to watch Elmo. I gave them baths for church around 2:30. The intention was for them to fall asleep while watching the Elmo DVD, which Ryan did. But not Hannah.

While Hannah and Ryan watched TV, Michael and I played card games. At 3:30 I started working on supper because I was starved!

Before bed, Hannah did some online coloring.

Tuesday, June 16, 2009

Today was a catch up day. I told the kids that I had some work that needed to be done around the house and that they would need to play on their own, watch TV or something while I worked. They chose to watch TV for the most part. I did some laundry, swept the floors, cleaned up the kitchen, made the beds, and misc. general cleaning and picking up.

Here they are watching an Answers in Genesis DVD, "D is for Dinosaur"

After I finished my work at the house, we ate lunch and then went to Funigans. The day has been nasty weather-wise. Rain and drizzle most of the day, so I decided Funigans would be the perfect place!

We got home from Funigans at 4:00. I fixed supper while the kids watched more TV. Hannah and Ryan decided they wanted to help me with supper.

After supper Michael played with the kids by spinning them around in my computer chair. Everyone was pretty good today, too. Ryan did ask, "Mommy go?" before they went to bed.

A Picture Catch-Up!

Well, I have been super busy the past week and this week. Last week DH and I had a friend from our previous home in WV staying with us. This week 3 of our grandkids are with us! I will certainly be ready for a vacation after this week! LOL!

Anyway, I haven't been able to do any project 365 layouts for a week, but I told my daughter that I would post some pictures of the grandkids activities for her to look at. So, here we go (captions will be under each picture)........

Saturday, June 13th, 2009

Elisabeth and Ryan before Elisabeth and Brad went to WV without the kids.

We went to Tom A Lex park for a picnic (pre-cooked pizza) and to play on the playground. It was nice in the shade eating lunch, but it was too stinkin' hot to play on the playground. The toys were so hot you couldn't touch them.

Tim was preaching a funeral in WV, so I took the kids to McDonalds for supper and to play in the play area.

My favorite activity of the day......reading bed time stories.
Other activities of the day not shown in pictures:
painting, drawing, spinning, paper tube fights.

Sunday, June 14th, 2009 - no pictures taken (what's up with that!!!???)
Activities during the day:
Church, naps, bean bag war

Monday, June 15th, 2009

Breakfast. I don't remember our kids going through so much milk when they were growing up! These kids drink milk ALL the time! We have already gone through 2 gallons!

While I cleaned up the kitchen, Ryan and Hannah did some art work. Well, actually Hannah is the only one that completed anything, you will see below.

Michael has looked at his baby scrapbook I did of his first year several times. I told him today I needed to work on it some more since he enjoyed it so much.

Ryan helped me throw some wet clothes in the dryer.

Here is Hannah's beautiful art work she finished.

Time to get out of the house! We were wondering what we could do. Hannah said, "I know what we can play" and took off back into the house and came back with the croquet set. But by the time I got it set up, she and Ryan had decided it would be more fun to ride the tricycles.

Hannah and Ryan enjoy starting at the church door on the tricycle, pushing off with their feet down the slightly sloping parking lot, lifting their legs and coasting to a stop! They don't like to take turns sharing the tricycle, however! Unfortunately, the little plastic one that Ryan is on above doesn't work the same for coasting as the tricycle does!

These next pictures were taken at the pool today. Even though it was sprinkling rain and cloudy, it was still pretty warm. I asked the kids if they wanted to go play in the pool and that is all it took to have them drop everything they were doing and get ready to go! The Bolton Park pool is beautiful! A huge pool with a diving tower that has different heights diving boards. A double wading pool for kids 6 and under 3 ft. deep (but Michael stayed with me so I could keep my eye on all 3 kids) and a nice splash pool with water spraying from all kinds of things. The deepest part being 1.5 feet. I will definitely take the kids back again!
The worst thing that happened today was Hannah's boo boo she got before we got in the pool today. She stubbed her flip flop toe and skinned her elbow on the cement. OUCH!!

While I was fixing supper, Hannah and Ryan watched a DVD. Ryan fell asleep about 10 minutes before supper was ready. I thought he wouldn't be in any mood to eat, but he ate pretty well!

Night, night, til tomorrow!
