Excerpt: The Pursuit of God, The Human Thirst for the Divine, A.W. Tozer

O God, I have tasted Thy goodness, and it has both satisfied me and made me thirsty for more. I am painfully conscious of my need of further grace. I am ashamed of my lack of desire. O God, The Triune God, I want to want Thee; I long to be filled with longing; I thirst to be made more thirsty still. Show me Thy glory, I pray Thee, that so I may know Thee indeed. Begin in mercy a new work of love within me. Say to my soul, "Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away." Then give me grace to rise and follow Thee up from this misty lowland where I have wondered so long. In Jesus' name. Amen

February 28, 2009

Well, the year is 1/6 over! LOL! The older you get, the quicker the time flies by! Boy, isn't that the truth! Even my daughter, Elisabeth, who is less than half my age, is beginning to realize this as she watches her children grow up before her very eyes! Life is a funny thing! We try to hold onto it while it slips through our hands! And we have no control over it!

After having been up for 48 hours, I slept like a rock last night! I stirred sometime after daylight and needed to go to the bathroom, but kept laying there because hubby wasn't up yet. Next thing I knew, he was finished with his shower and had come into the bedroom to get dressed. I decided my bladder could hold no more! So, I got up for the day. It was about 8:30, which is an hour later than I usually sleep.

Today it has been raining all day long. It hasn't been too cold, but just a dreary day. Another lady from church and I were going to take one of the older ladies shopping today, but because of the rain, that was not a good idea because she has to use a walker. She postponed the shopping trip last week because of a birthday party for her great grandson that happened. That's ok. It will get done eventually!

I started doing some work around the house. I got the dishes put away and loaded a few more, stripped our bed so I could wash the sheets and even the blankets. Then I was going to work on getting the last bulletin board done in the SS building. Tim has been buying digital books and selling his commentaries and other books that he has replaced digitally. He announced that he was going to take a couple of boxes to the Christian bookstore to sell, so I decided to ride along. I threw a load of sheets in the dryer and I grabbed a pack of bulletin board letters to punch out on the trip to make good use of my time, while spending the time with DH, too. Killed two birds with one stone, I guess you could say! That's what I like to do, multi-tasking!

Anyway, that's what today's page includes is pictures of Tim's books we took to sell, the Christian bookstore where we took them, and my traveling office, lol! I created today's page with Silvia Romeo's "New Years Dreams" kit. I have really enjoyed being Silvia's CT this month! She certainly has some beautiful kits to work with! I think I did pretty well for her this month! I worked with 4 of her kits and created 2 sets of 8 quick page albums! Hope she enjoyed having me as her CT as much as I enjoyed it! Thanks, Silvia, for letting me work with your beautiful kits!

Boy! What a day I have had! And it has been a very long day, too! I did not go to bed last night. I caught up on some computer work and some layouts for the challenges at Digitals. And the next thing I knew, it was 5:00 a.m. So, I decided it was too late to go to bed, so I just read my Bible and waited for Tim to get up so I could get busy!

I had a double burst of energy from somewhere! When Tim got up, I cleaned up the kitchen, I gathered the laundry to wash, I cleaned Tim's bathroom and my bathroom. I not only swept with the broom, but I swept with the sweeper! I worked on another bulletin board for church, but didn't get it done. After I fixed supper, I went shopping and I have been looking for items for Tim to use in his Creation Seminar he will be doing in FL at the end of March. I cannot find a round globe for love or money! And, he needs an eye. I haven't been able to find one of those, either! I think I'm going to check Dollar Tree Direct.com to see what they have. I heard over the intercom when I was in there the other day that they will deliver free for pickup to one of their stores!

Anyway, while I was out shopping tonight, I hit red light after red light! But, I was in no hurry, so it didn't bother me too much! Besides that, I hadn't taken any pictures yet for today's page! So, I decided pictures of the red lights would work for me!

And, Cindy Ritter's "Animal Antics" kit has the best background that worked really well with the light effects in the pics, which I used. The polka dot paper is the one I am referring to.

If you have any ideas for me on the globe and the eye, let me know!

Thursdays are DH's proclaimed day off from church work. However, especially during the winter months when we don't go anywhere for the cold, he usually ends up working anyway. But today, with the promise of temperatures in the 60's, we decided to take a day trip to one of our state parks. So, we left the house at 10:30 a.m. and traveled about 2 hours west to Chimney Rock State Park in Chimney Rock, NC. After we purchased the tickets we drove to the restrooms. There were picnic tables set up, so we ate a picnic lunch of chicken salad on whole wheat bagels and also chips. The sun was shining and it was beautiful. I wondered if I had messed up by wearing a turtle neck under a sweatshirt. However, the higher the elevation we reached, the windier it was and I was glad I had the layers. I got hot climbing the stairs, not to mention out of breath, but cooled down quickly once we got to our destinations. Can you say, "OUT OF SHAPE!" WHEW!

Anyway, we had a wonderful day. I knew I would have to do a 2-pager for today's project 365. I used Cindy Ritter's new kit, "Animal Antics." There is also a brag book, which I created, and a set of quick pages - all made using the kit. You can find them all HERE. AND THEY ARE ON SALE FOR A LIMITED TIME, SO HURRY!!!

Click on the picture so you can get a better view of the 2-pager in another window.

The wheels on the bus go round and round
Round and round, round and round.
The wheels on the bus go round and round
All through the town.

Today's page brought back childhood memories of school bus riding. Some good and some not so good! All in all, riding the school bus was not so bad. After all, that's where I first met my DH. I was such a smart aleck at the time! I always ventured to the back of the bus. One day a guy walked back to my seat and very politely asked if someone was sitting there next to me. I think I made some smart comment like, "it doesn't look like it." Then when I got off the bus, after Tim had already been dropped off, the bus driver said to me, "Was that your boyfriend?" To which I answered, "NO! He stinks!" Not literally stank as in smelled, but I had my eyes on another boy that lived on down the street past where I lived and I made this comment specifically loud enough for his ears! Well, who would have ever guessed that Tim and I would start going together before the school year ended! And, who would have ever thought that we would be high school sweethearts and get married! Not to mention all of the other blessings we have had together! Only God knew in His sovereignty!

Anyway, that being said........today's page was created using Silvia Romeo's "New Year's Dreams" kit found HERE

Another cold but beautiful day today! And I was able to catch "my" crocus open! What a beautiful sight to behold! I am longing for Spring so I can plant some flowers around the house, too!

I used Silvia Romeo's "Arabesque Revisited" again to create this page.

YEAH!!!!! We have a bloom! This little beauty popped her head through the ground today, even though it was pretty chilly! The sun was beautiful, but the wind was just down right cold! Bone chilling cold! You know what I'm talking about, I'm sure!

I created this page using Silvia Romeo's "Arabesque Revisited" kit. The elements are just sooo pretty! You can find the kit HERE.

OOOPPSS!! I didn't realize that I had forgotten to upload my page for Saturday! I'll be so glad to see the flowers blooming! I am soooo ready for Spring! This page was created with a freebie sampler by Cindy Ritter. She gave it away in the January Digitals Newsletter. You can find the Newsletters HERE but I don't know how long the freebies are available for download! But the newsletters are beautiful and have lots of information in them. Well, here is my page:

February 20, 2009

Well, it was my turn today to work in DH's SS classroom. I worked on the bulletin boards, hung a few posters and created a map out of posterboard, which is hanging on the back of the door. After the room is finished, I'll do another layout to show the improvements!

I created this page using Paula Yagisawa's "Yubi- Graceful Beauty" which is a Japanese kit which is currently being offered as a freebie daily download at Digitals' store HERE. I don't have any asian pictures, but I love the papers and the elements!

DH will soon start a new SS class in our church for the Jr. High and Sr. High kids. Right now everyone is all in the same class, from 6 years to 16 years! Not a good situation for the kids or the teacher! So, he is putting up white boards and I am in charge of the posters and wall decorations and bulletin boards! COOL!

I used Sophia Davies' "Life is Good" kit again and Pamela Yates' template.

February 18, 2009

So, I finally have my car back! WOOHOO! DH and I woke up early enough to leave the house by 7:00 a.m. This would put us at the repair shop in Wytheville, VA by 9:00. It was raining when we left the house and rained pretty hard the first 1/2 hour of the trip or so. The further north we went, the rain began to turn into snow. A very heavy, wet snow at first. Eventually it turned into all snow and the traffic began to move slowly. There were salt trucks out and about, which helped especially for our return trip home. Glad to be finished with that whole car mess! Just hope the problems are taken care of now!

This page about today's weather was made using Sophia Davies' "Life is Good" kit found at the following link at her Digitals Store: http://digitalscrapbookpages.com/digitals/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=&products_id=5549
The background papers are actually 2 papers a paisley underneath and then the paper on top is at 85% opacity. The paisley was too bold for my page, which is why I wanted to tone it down with the layer on top.

The Man on the Middle Cross by Mosie Lister

Verses
Three crosses once stood on a lonely hill where three were crucified.
There was one without blame on the middle cross, and a thief on either side.

On Calvary’s dark hill where the crosses stood my Savior in anguish tossed,
“Father, oh Father forgive them now,” came the cry from the middle cross.

Chorus
Oh, the man on the middle cross was my Lord, dying to save me from loss.
Sinless and blameless I see him now, looking down from the middle cross.

I thought of this song today when I got the picture for my page below. These 3 crosses can be found on lots of hillsides in WV, probably other states, too. They have always fascinated me. They always remind me of how blessed I am that Jesus was willing to give up his life to save me. It is something I cannot understand, but am so thankful for.

Today was a very busy day. Painting in Ryan's room, playing and more playing with the kids, visiting one of the ladies from my daughter's church with another lady from her church, more playing, more painting, and before you know it, the day is done.

February 11, 2009

Yesterday and today were full of unexpected blessings, even though I had car problems and today's layout tells the story, so I won't re-hash it. But, I was reminded that there are blessings in every event that takes place in our lives. We just need to remember to look for them instead of focusing on the negatives. I thank the Lord for this reminder! And, I thank Him for His wonderful Love, Protection and Provision!

I used Silvia Romeo's "True Love" kit. I know, it is a not-so-typical layout for this type of kit, but I like making use of the not-so-typical! Why restrict such a beautiful kit with beautiful elements! Anyway, here is the link to the kit in Silvia's store at Digitals: http://digitalscrapbookpages.com/digitals/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=26_143&products_id=13510

I traveled to be with my daughter this week and my grandchildren. Later this week, my other daughter, her son and my DIL and her daughter will come here and we are going to have a girls/kids weekend! I couldn't wait! So I traveled early! I will have dinner with some of the girls I used to work with tomorrow, so that will probably be my layout for then.

February 8, 2009

Another beautiful day today! Warmth and sunshine! The perfect combination! Still, it is only February, so I am sure that the warmth will not last! There may be a few days that are warm, but God's Word tells us that as long as the earth is standing, there will always be the seasons! That is another reason that I do not believe that we are having "Global Warming." God is in control of the seasons, not man! Thank God for that! I am so glad I believe in a sovereign God! It answers a lot of questions I might otherwise have!

Today's page was created using Cindy Ritter's brand new, beautiful kit, "Southern Mist." You can find the kit in her Digitals store with the following link: http://digitalscrapbookpages.com/digitals/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=&products_id=14040

I also noticed that I have the wrong date on this page. I'll have to fix my copy before I have it printed!

Stop awhile to reminisce and to pleasantly review
Happy little happenings and things you used to do.

Today be thankful for pleasant memories!

What a wonderful day to be alive! The Lord has blessed us with a gorgeous day today! Wonderful sunshine! Wonderful temperature! Today's page shows hubby with Spring fever as he has been longing to wash his car! And it has just been too chilly to be playing in water! LOL! Today was a beautiful day! Praise the Lord for sunshine! DH and I took our walk to the park today. I remembered to take the camera! It was a little nippy when we first got there, but after the first 1/3 of a mile lap, we warmed up. By the 7th lap, we were unzipping our jackets, removing hoods and hats and gloves! I used one glove to count the number of laps, lol!

Anyway, I'm still working with Silvia Romeo's lovely kit, Cherries Jubilee. I love the colors in the kit! Her kit is on sale in the store at Digitals. Here is the link: http://digitalscrapbookpages.com/digitals/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=&products_id=13899

Never be:
Too busy to stop and recognize
The grief that lies in another's eyes,
Too busy to offer to help or share,
Too busy to sympathize or care.

Today's post is about one of those things we take for granted, sometimes. Cereal. There are so many different varieties of cereal! I usually find one that I like, with fruit, nuts and crunchies, and that is the cereal I stick with until I just get sick of it! However, DH has 3 boxes going at one time; bran flakes, frosted mini wheats and cinnamon toast crunch (all the generic forms).

I am amazed at how many things I find to scrap about for this project. I figured I take pictures for a week and then not have anything else to scrap about! But there are so many different facets to every day that I don't think I'll have to worry about running out of things to scrap about.

This page was created with a free quick page found on Silvia Romeo's blog, made using her "Cherries Jubilee" kit. Here is the link to her blog: http://www.silviaromeo.blogspot.com/

Unless we think we're better
Than the Father up above,
Let us forgive our sisters and brothers
In understanding love.

Today I saw Robin Red Breast in our front yard! Does that mean that Springtime is near?! Even though the winter has not been bad for us in this part of NC, I am still itching to be outside and able to plant some flowers around the house! I'm tired of being in doors! And, DH and I will probably start doing some traveling to see the sites of NC on his days off, once the weather warms up for good!

I created my page for today, using my pictures of the Robins I took, with the perfect quick page, created just for my pictures, LOL! The designer is Joyce de Jonge and the kit the quick page was created (by a CT member) from is "Frozen" found in her store at Digitals at the following link: http://digitalscrapbookpages.com/digitals/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=&products_id=13806

The quick page is a freebie on her blog at the following link: http://joycedejongescrapbookdesigns.blogspot.com/
Be sure and leave her a nice THANK YOU for the beautiful quick page!

We all have cares and problems
We cannot solve alone,
But if we go to God in prayer,
We are never on our own.

This little poem was on my perpetual calendar for today and I thought it was something that each of us would do well to remember each day! Not just when we have problems, but all the time! If we cannot talk to our Heavenly Father, who can we talk to?

We had more snow today. Still not very much and the ground was so warm that it didn't stick for very long. Just another dusting, basically. But I got some good pictures! The flakes were huge! Looked like big lumps of snowflakes piled together!

I used Michelle Pieters, "Gentle Whisper" kit found in her digitals store at the following link:
http://digitalscrapbookpages.com/digitals/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=&products_id=13170
And, you should hurry! The kit is on sale for a short time!

This is my favorite picture of Tim and myself! Here is a layout I did using Silvia Romeo's "Cherries Jubilee" kit found at the following link in her store at Digitals. Today I noticed how many signs are in our everyday lives. Signs with all sorts of different info on them; some written and some just have pictures or symbols. No matter where I was today, there were signs; big, little, short and tall! I started taking pictures of the signs, but I could have spent all day taking pictures, I think! So, I gave up. Shown in my layout for today are some of the common types seen and a few that are not, but still qualify as signs.

I used Amanda Thorderson's "I Remember Love" kit again. So, as you can see, this is a very versatile kit!

"Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain." 1 Corinthians 9:24

Well, here we are beginning another month already! Superbowl Sunday! I read this verse during my Bible reading this morning. Since it is Superbowl Sunday, I thought I would post it here. It made me think about the guys on the football field running their hearts out to win the prize of being the Superbowl Champs (I guess that is what they will be, lol!) Anyway, I also couldn't help but wonder how many professing Christians stayed out of church tonight for this earthly game! They would do better in their Christian race if they would make God their priority and not forsake the assembling of themselves together with the other believers FIRST and then worry about the earthly race, which is gonna be burned up as wood, hay and stubble for those who chose the Superbowl over serving God! The prize for the faithful, a crown of faithfulness in running our race well; choosing to serve God above the wants of our flesh!

Anyway, I needed to go to Walmart this afternoon to support my addiction (my other addiction, that is - Diet Coke) so DH wanted me to pick up some snacks for the rest of the game after church. So, that's what I did my page on today. DH watched the game while I chatted with the ladies at Digitals in the chat room.

I created this page with Amanda Thorderson's new kit, "I Remember Love" found at the following link in her store at Digitals: http://digitalscrapbookpages.com/digitals/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=&products_id=13973
This is a HUGE kit! And it is on sale through February for $3!

Have a great week! See you tomorrow!
