Excerpt: The Pursuit of God, The Human Thirst for the Divine, A.W. Tozer

O God, I have tasted Thy goodness, and it has both satisfied me and made me thirsty for more. I am painfully conscious of my need of further grace. I am ashamed of my lack of desire. O God, The Triune God, I want to want Thee; I long to be filled with longing; I thirst to be made more thirsty still. Show me Thy glory, I pray Thee, that so I may know Thee indeed. Begin in mercy a new work of love within me. Say to my soul, "Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away." Then give me grace to rise and follow Thee up from this misty lowland where I have wondered so long. In Jesus' name. Amen

Play Hard and Be Grateful!

Play Hard

Journaling reads:  Ryan plays soccer for the Chargers at the Christian school where he attends.  For a relatively new team (I think this is the second year for them to play together) they played well today....at least in the first half.  They quickly pulled out in the lead, ending the first half 3 or 4 points ahead.  Not sure what happened between the first and second half but they would have likely lost the game, had it not been for the whistle to end the game with a score of 5 to 4!

Simply Wonderful Natural Beauty

Simply Wonderful and Natural Beauty

I went to one of Ryan’s soccer games yesterday, Sept. 12, 2022.  Rain was in the forecast, but a small percentage of a chance during the game.  I left the house at 2, with my camera and my umbrella, so I could stop to get something to eat for the first time of the day.  Knowing my stomach likes bland, I stopped at Chick-fil-A and got a grilled chicken sandwich meal.  I finished my trip to the school as I ate the waffle fries and then I ate the sandwich when I got to the school.

Abby came out to their car to change clothes after school; she came over to the car and we hung out for a bit while her mom finished working the carline.  While we waited it began to sprinkle rain.  As we sat there the sprinkles got heavier and heavier.  We decided to go into the school to find her mom who was back in the classroom with the teacher she aided.  We headed out to the soccer field to watch the guys warm up.  As we headed out, the guys were headed back into the school because a rain delay had been called.  So we went back into the gym to watch the girls play volleyball.  As they finished up their warm-up we were told the soccer game was back on.  So we headed back outside.

The sun was out, there was a nice breeze; it was perfect for watching the soccer game.  I’m glad I had my umbrella because the sun actually got hot.  The game went well for Ryan’s team in the first half and they were in the lead by 4 points, I believe.  But something happened in the second half and if the whistle had not been blown to end the game they may have lost it!  I think the ending score was 5 to 4.

I parted ways with Elisabeth and family and headed home.  When I got about a mile up the freeway I noticed a sign saying there was an accident up ahead.  All of a sudden, the traffic was at a standstill.  I had maneuvered myself to the far left lane and was stuck.  Google maps told me there was a 40 minute delay!  Googling back roads home only resulted in getting off at the exit where the accident was and the traffic was not letting anyone move from the lane they were in.  So I turned on my audiobook and just went with the flow of traffic!

I had sent Mark a text at 6:12 to let him know I was headed home.  It was between 7:30 – 7:45 when I finally got home.  So, what should have taken about 45 minutes took twice as long.  That’s OK.  I finished my audiobook!

Journaling reads:  Mom was 20 when she and dad married.  Dad was 26.  They married on Dec. 20, 1954 and I was born 9 months and 18 days later.  I am one year 2 months and 18 days old in this photo.  Little did I know I would be a big sister in about 3 1/2 months!  12-26-56

I clipped one of the papers provided to the mask that was provided.  The leaves from the kit, shown in the background on the right, were changed with one of the watercolor styles.  Beautiful styles!

Feeling Incredibly Nostalgic

Designer Challenges

Anna Color Challenge found here:  https://oscraps.com/community/threads/annacolor-challenge-09-09-2022-09-23-2022.36231/

Journaling reads:  I was about one year old in this photo.  I was looking at myself in the mirror.  Not seen here, but my pregnant mother was standing in the background watching me.  I’m not sure if I was looking at myself, really, or if I was looking at her.  I wish I had asked her about the details of the old photos I now have in my possession before she passed.  Now most of her family and most of dad’s family are gone, so the details will remain a mystery until it won’t really matter anymore as the things of this life vanish away like a vapor (James 4:14).  Autumn 1956

A Wet Ride on Labor Day

Monday forecast:  Scattered showers.

That was the forecast I remember someone talking about.  Well, those scattered showers seemed to be going the same direction we went on our bikes!  It wasn't too bad when just sprinkling, but it got worse and worse the longer we were out.  We finally had to resort to donning our rain gear on the way home after supper.

We did have a nice reprieve while we were at Dan Nicholas Park, but when the sun came out it was HOT and HUMID!  (We just can't be satisfied, can we? 😉)

We left here at 10:30 to meet Bobby and Joy at the gas station.  From there we traveled through Lexington to get to a Subway so we could get subs and chips to eat for lunch when we got to Dan Nicholas Park.  But, I began to sprinkle about 11:15.  It eventually got hard enough that we had to find shelter.  As it happened, the restaurant near the park that we had intended to eat lunch at, had it not been closed, had two awnings over the doors that we were able to park under, since no one was going in or out of the restaurant.  We took our lunch around to the outside dining area.  We stayed there until around 1:15 when the rain finally quit except for a few sprinkles.

Bobby bought some duck food and he fed the ducks hanging out around the lake.  It is always an entertaining activity, especially for the kids.

We then went into the kids section of the park where there is a water park, playground, animal habitats, train ride, carousel, shelters, and painted backgrounds with places for you stick your head through.

We left the park at 4:18 and went back through Lexington to eat supper at Applebee's.  We were probably there an hour and a half to 2 hours.

We parted ways from Applebee's as we headed to our separate homes.  We donned our rain gear before we left the restaurant.  What a great day we had!  Thank You, LORD, for good friends to share good times with as we enjoyed your creation!  We traveled right at 100 miles round trip.  Thank You, LORD, for safety as we traveled the wet roads!

When I transferred the pictures from the camera to my laptop I had nearly 400 pictures to go through!  I'll just show you a few.  You can thank me later!  😉

And that's a wrap for now!  Thanks for reading!
