Excerpt: The Pursuit of God, The Human Thirst for the Divine, A.W. Tozer

O God, I have tasted Thy goodness, and it has both satisfied me and made me thirsty for more. I am painfully conscious of my need of further grace. I am ashamed of my lack of desire. O God, The Triune God, I want to want Thee; I long to be filled with longing; I thirst to be made more thirsty still. Show me Thy glory, I pray Thee, that so I may know Thee indeed. Begin in mercy a new work of love within me. Say to my soul, "Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away." Then give me grace to rise and follow Thee up from this misty lowland where I have wondered so long. In Jesus' name. Amen

What a Mess!

Are you thinking................what has she gotten herself into this time?  :D  The answer is............................GREEN BEANS!  One of the couples at church brought us a MESS of green beans they had picked!  Tonight Tim and I snapped them and I "processed" them for the freezer.  The process is called "blanching."  Very easy to do, too!  Fill a pot 2/3 full of water and bring to a boil.  After the water begins to boil, throw the clean green beans into the water (I had washed them before Tim and I snapped them).  Put the lid on the pot and let them boil for 3 minutes.  In the mean time, fill another pot with cold water and ice.  As soon as the 3 minutes are up, put the beans into the ice cold water to stop the cooking.  Drain and bag up the beans for the freezer.  We now have 5 quart bags of green beans in the freezer!

There were a couple more hands full of green beans that wouldn't fit on top of this bowl.  And we ended up with 5 quarts shown below.  Thank the LORD for His marvelous provision!  I'll have to do some catching up and show you some of the good things I have made from the "fruits" of our veggie garden and herb garden!

I've never been a caner but I like the idea of the "blanching" and freezing! Thanks for the instructions! I might try that!

I think I meant "canner".

That's how I process my beans, too. I can other things but usually I freeze beans and corn. We like them so much better that way. I haven't had anyone give me any beans yet this year. I probably won't either since my usual source didn't put out a garden this year. I might need to visit some of the farmer's markets and actually buy them. Horrors! :)
