Down Time

Tim and I got back today around noon.  We left the hotel in Roanoke, VA around 9:15.  We made three Goodwill stops and just took our time.  We were not in that big of a hurry to get back.  We really enjoyed our down time, even though it rained the whole time!  We just needed a break in the action.  And we needed to take advantage of Tim feeling relatively OK.  He looked tired to me today and he said he guessed he did feel tired.  I went to bed after him last night and actually woke up before he did.  So, I got up and got my shower while he continued to sleep.

When we pulled up to the mail box at the house today, the first thing we noticed was that someone had changed the Revival church sign to "Praise Him."  Calvin pulled into the church just as we were getting the mail out of the box.  He told Tim that he had changed the sign.  One of Tim's pet peeves is to see a church sign that has not been changed after the event noted on the sign.  We were trying to get away so quickly Sunday afternoon that Tim told me not to worry about the sign, but he was glad Calvin had changed it.

We had to go to Walmart to renew Tim's prescription for the steroid.  He only gets 5 pills at a time, which is 5 days.  Not sure why so few.  So, we put in for the prescription and then went to Subway for lunch.  Then we went back to Walmart to pick up the fill prescription and get a few other items.

I was able to get the new church sign up, even thought it was a bit misty still.  But, it was drier than it had been in 2 days!  So I went for it!

I worked on washing the bed linens and bath towels for the guest room this afternoon.  I also washed the tablecloths and dish towels from the dinner in the fellowship hall on Sunday.  The bed is made again and the bath towels are folded and put away.  I still have to fold the tablecloths and dish towels and take them back to the church.

I also poured the rest of the thistle seed I had into the larger feeder, but I need to buy some more.  I also washed and cleaned out the lighthouse feeder and filled it up with a mixture of corn, seeds, black sunflower seeds, peanuts, dried meal worms.  And I cleaned out the bird bath.  I still need to buy some more suet, too.  But, I'm thinking about getting the ingredients and making my own.

After I got the feeders taken care of, I sat outside for a little while to capture some pictures of the birds.  No new visitors today.

I also got the checkbook caught up.  I need to reconcile it with the bank and then I will be done.  I will probably do the reconciling tomorrow.  I want to do some reading after I finish posting this.

Thank You, Lord, for Your watch-care over us as we traveled the last couple of days.  Thank You for the time of refreshing and resting.  Give Tim the strength he needs for studying and carrying out the work You have for him to do.  We love You, Lord, because You first loved us!  Thank You for your blessings!

The house finches are quite a bit bigger than the goldfinches.

These first two pictures were taken from my craft room window and before I filled the feeders.  The food so low that they had to resort to finding seeds on the ground.

Markin' 'Em Off.....One by One!

Well, our plans for the day didn't pan out the way we wanted them to, but we still had a great day!  The all-day rain kinda messed it up, but that's OK.  We just went to the thrift stores all day!  I absolutely LOVE going to new (to us) Goodwills so I get a new batch of books to look through.  My biggest list I'm looking for is the list I have of author Debbie Macomber.  Today, I was able to mark off TEN books!  WOOHOO!  One by One!  Tomorrow, we will stop at more on the way back home!  Another good thing is that I paid $1.00 per book instead of $1.49, which is what Goodwills at home raised their paperback books to this year.

I actually didn't get a picture of what I chose to eat.....cinnamon rolls!  They were by the coffee on another counter.

We stopped in the Visitor's Center, left our car parked there and walked to the City Market.  There were all kinds of restaurants, but of course we had just eaten, so that didn't do us any good.  And most of the places we wanted to visit, as recommended by the lady at the Visitor's Center, wasn't open for whatever reason, or we couldn't find.  We probably spent half an hour walking around in the drizzle when we decided to give it up and go thrifting.

I love this and plan to make one on canvas.

But, after checking my list (and checking it twice) I ended up taking the short stack home.  That's OK!  Markin' 'em off one by one!  :D

So, our hotel keys had an ad for a free onion with the purchase of an entree at Jersey Lily's, 2 miles from the hotel.

Here's the story behind the name of the restaurant.

Tim ordered steak and potatoes.  These are the mushrooms he was served!  OY VEY!  He did NOT eat them!  And, neither did I!  I ordered the chicken and dumpling soup.  Then we got a dessert of brownie and ice cream.

Yes, that is a Hershey's candy bar melting on top of the hot brownie!  We were going to stop at Dollar General on the way back to the hotel to pick up some snacks for tonight, but after that dessert, we decided we didn't need to stop!  :D

My baby is plum tuckered out!  We went to bed at 9:45 last night.  He was awake at 4:30, but laid there til 5:30 and got up, got dressed and went down to the restaurant to watch the Today show and eat breakfast.  I got up around 7 and got ready for the day and then took care of my e-mail, etc.  When he came back up to the room, he went back down to the restaurant with me.  This may be another early night tonight!

But, for now, I'm going to read (while the TV is off and it is quiet)!

Lord, thank You for a full, yet relaxing day today!  Be with us as we travel home tomorrow!  Thank You for Your love, mercy and grace.  In Jesus' name I give thanks and praise, AMEN!

Today was the final day of our revival services with Brother Wilbert Ellis of Grace Baptist Church in Florence, KY.  The attendance was great every  night, as were the messages.  There were 40 or more in attendance today!

After the morning service, we had lunch on the grounds.

We ALWAYS have plenty of food!  Our ladies (Baptist ladies, in general) are the BEST cooks!  :D  I could be a bit prejudiced, however!

After he ate, Brother Ellis began his 8 hour trip back to his home in Florence, KY.  Then, after clean-up was completed, Tim and I packed our suitcase to head out for some down time.

It rained all night and has rained all day today.  And, we didn't drive out of it.

We did stop at a Goodwill on our trip.  Tim found a suit.

I'm thinking it will be an early night for us to hit the hay.  Tim is napping right now, but I'm sure he will be able to sleep all night, too!  Thank You, Lord, that he has been able to sleep better lately!  Help him to get the rest he needs tonight.  I pray he wakes up completely refreshed!  We love You, Lord and thank You for the revival services.  May we each and everyone examine our lives and draw closer to You in those areas where we fall short.  I pray, too, that those visitors who attended the services heard something that will cause them to examine their lives and make the necessary decisions to either draw closer to You, or accept Jesus as their Savior before it is eternally too late!  I pray in Jesus name.  AMEN!
