Excerpt: The Pursuit of God, The Human Thirst for the Divine, A.W. Tozer

O God, I have tasted Thy goodness, and it has both satisfied me and made me thirsty for more. I am painfully conscious of my need of further grace. I am ashamed of my lack of desire. O God, The Triune God, I want to want Thee; I long to be filled with longing; I thirst to be made more thirsty still. Show me Thy glory, I pray Thee, that so I may know Thee indeed. Begin in mercy a new work of love within me. Say to my soul, "Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away." Then give me grace to rise and follow Thee up from this misty lowland where I have wondered so long. In Jesus' name. Amen

Flower Beds

Yesterday, instead of going to thrift stores (at least in the morning) Tim and I worked on the flower beds around the front of the house. The flowers I planted last year mostly died because the ground is sloped from the house and the dirt was basically washed away from the plants throughout the year. It is hard to tell, but the plant in the middle under the window is sticking about 3 inches above the ground! I covered it up in the hopes that maybe the dirt will revive it, lol! If not, I'll just buy more plants, which I intend to do anyway.

Anyway, here is a before picture. Keep scrolling down to see more.

My faithful little car really isn't good enough for DH to drive unless it involves a task that might get his car dirty! LOL! So, hi ho, hi ho, it's off to Lowe's we go for the first load of landscaping timbers. We have such a small area that needed to be done, but I still figured it would cost us a couple hundred $$ to do this small project! I was PLEASANTLY surprised! The 8' landscape timbers were only $1.97 each! We bought 12" galvanized nails to pin them to the ground! We spent more on those than we did on the lumber, lol! We only bought enough to do the area by the porch. Tim didn't want to do the other part til next year. I don't know what his thinking was on this plan, but since he was willing to help me, that was fine with me! So, we bought 7 timbers and 20 nails. The plan was to build the bed and then go to lunch and get dirt to fill the beds later.
Tim and I have always worked very well together! And, he didn't hurt me but maybe once the whole day! :)
We ended up with a whole timber and a piece left over. And we had finished building the beds by 12:30 (we didn't leave the house to buy the timber until 9:45, so we made good time). Anyway, Tim decided we needed to just go ahead and finish the side of the house, too, lol! We only needed 2 more boards to finish the project. So, we made a few notes of materials we needed, washed our hands and left for lunch at Pizza Hut. We enjoyed the all-you-can-eat pizza buffet then went to Lowe's for the rest of the materials. We bought 2 more timbers and 14 more nails. We also bought 10 bags of top soil at $1.27 each.
Tim left the filling in to me with the top soil. I started pulling weeds, but then gave up on that idea and just poured the dirt on top of it, lol! I'll probably regret that later on!
And, voila! All done! Looks pretty nice, huh?! Still needs some leveling out and more plants. I bought a "small garden" magazine that I hope to get some ideas from in what to plant.
And, here is a view of the front and side. Looks much better!
Where are my gloves, you say? I HATE wearing gloves! I have to say that I did think I would probably end up having to cut my fingernails off afterwards! But dish soap and a scrubbie then B&BW soap did the trick! And to my surprise, I didn't even have a broken nail! We did end up going to a few thrift stores later in the afternoon and then I was treated to dinner out, too! It was a very productive day! That's not all.......
OK, now here is a layout I did of a picture I took of the daffodils at church. I love daffodils and I take pictures of them every year. This year I positioned the camera under them so I could capture that beautiful sky! Turned out pretty neat! Then I used a couple of the pictures to make a couple of papers for my new kit, Dream Of Spring. This is a page I did using that new kit. Click on the layout to go to the store where I am selling the kit for 50% off when you use the coupon code "DreamOfSpring" (no quotes) during the checkout process. THANKS!

They do look good! I just can't get in to doing anything in the yard. Yesterday I cut most of my daffodils (which the people who lived here before me planted) with scissors and brought them inside and put them in a vase. They smell heavenly!
