Excerpt: The Pursuit of God, The Human Thirst for the Divine, A.W. Tozer

O God, I have tasted Thy goodness, and it has both satisfied me and made me thirsty for more. I am painfully conscious of my need of further grace. I am ashamed of my lack of desire. O God, The Triune God, I want to want Thee; I long to be filled with longing; I thirst to be made more thirsty still. Show me Thy glory, I pray Thee, that so I may know Thee indeed. Begin in mercy a new work of love within me. Say to my soul, "Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away." Then give me grace to rise and follow Thee up from this misty lowland where I have wondered so long. In Jesus' name. Amen

Hope in God

In my devotions this morning, I read Psalm 43. "Hope in God" is the theme given to this Psalm (not sure who gives these, whether from the originals or from the translators). With all that is happening in our country today, I felt that this Psalm hit the nail on the head, so to speak. Please read the verses below and consider this.....no matter what our leaders may do, God's people need to remain true to Him and His Word and place all our HOPE IN GOD! He will be our only salvation from the destruction that may come from poor leadership, yay, ungodly leadership. Let's pray very hard for our nation and it's leaders. May God's purpose be to spare them from eternal destruction and draw them to Him. Stand true to God and His Word and HOPE IN GOD so that He will NOT cast us off!

Psalm 43 (KJV) - the highlighted portions are my own and I have added a pronoun in parenthesis to represent us Christians in this nation.
1. Judge me (us), O God, and plead my (our) cause against an ungodly nation: O deliver me (us) from the deceitful and unjust man.
2. For thou art the God of my (our) strength: why dost thou cast me (us) off? why go I (we) mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?
3. O send out thy light and thy truth: let them lead me (us); let them bring me (us) unto thy holy hill, and to thy tabernacles.
4. Then will I (we) go unto the altar of God, unto God my (our) exceeding joy: yea, upon the harp will I (we) praise thee, O God my (our) God.
5. Why art thou cast down, O my (our) soul? and why art thou disquieted within me (us)? hope in God: for I (we) shall yet praise him, who is the health of my (our) countenance, and my (our) God.

My prayer:
O, LORD God! Forgive me for being complacent and apathetic to what has been going on in this great nation for a long time! A nation that was founded on godly principles and lead by godly men. O, GOD! We need to get back to those basics. I pray today for ALL of the leaders of our great nation, that it might be Your purpose to turn them to You; that it might be Your purpose to turn us Christians back to You and make our nation a STRONG, Christian nation once again! Forgive our collective sins, I pray in the name of Jesus Christ, the only Way, Truth and Light and for His sake, His honor and His glory! AMEN!

I think we're all guilty of not praying for this country and its leaders enough. I said a prayer as I passed by Pennsylvania Ave when I was bringing Kara to you, but I don't think of them often. Not as often as I think of the soldiers serving our country.
Lord, work through these people with such power. Help them to want to do good! Lord, hear our prayer!
