Excerpt: The Pursuit of God, The Human Thirst for the Divine, A.W. Tozer

O God, I have tasted Thy goodness, and it has both satisfied me and made me thirsty for more. I am painfully conscious of my need of further grace. I am ashamed of my lack of desire. O God, The Triune God, I want to want Thee; I long to be filled with longing; I thirst to be made more thirsty still. Show me Thy glory, I pray Thee, that so I may know Thee indeed. Begin in mercy a new work of love within me. Say to my soul, "Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away." Then give me grace to rise and follow Thee up from this misty lowland where I have wondered so long. In Jesus' name. Amen

Morning Has Broken

When I see a beautiful sunrise, I can't help but think of the oldies song, "Morning Has Broken."  Can you imagine that first EVER morning?  The morning that God said, "Let there be light!"  How amazing that would have been, to see the beginning of everything as we know it!

Genesis  1:3-5
3.  And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.
4.  And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.
5.  And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.

And then to see everything else set into place by His spoken Word!  "Let there be....." and there it was!  The blue sky, the sun, moon and stars, the bodies of water, the plush green grass, the trees of every kind, the plants for our food, the flowers of all shapes and colors, the birds of every size and color, the insects, the animals, the sea creatures.......the beauty He created for us, mankind!  And after He created mankind, He said in Genesis 1:28, ".....have dominion over.....every living thing that moveth upon the earth."  Then in vs.29, ".....I have given (to) YOU (Adam and Eve)....."  And then in vs.31 He said, ".....it was very good!"

And, it WAS very good, before sin entered into the world through the sin of pride and disobedience the first man and woman.  But, you know, being here on this hill and looking out from the porch on my son's home, God's beauty still surrounds us!  It is mankind that is ugly!  Sin made us ugly!  It made our heart ugly.  Jeremiah  17:9 says, "The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?"  It is because of this verse (and others) that I don't agree with the mantra, "Just follow your heart."  No!  Your heart will deceive you and get you into trouble!

I don't know about you (actually I do, because your heart is just like mine.....deceitful and desperately wicked, but for the grace of God, if you have been saved), but if I were not a Christian (and even still, more than I care to admit) I would be full of pride which causes selfishness, covetousness, hatred, jealousy, anger.....just to list a few sins.....BUT for the grace of God!  Thank You, LORD, for Your mercy, love and grace we are all so undeserving of!  Thank You for the beauty I see from this hilltop You have allowed me to enjoy for a couple of weeks!  I don't deserve ANYTHING You have EVER done for me, but I am so thankful You see fit to bless me every day!  And most of all, I thank You for the salvation that You provided for me through Your Son, the Lord Jesus Christ!
Morning view out over Guntersville Lake
It was a beautiful day!  Low humidity always helps!

The guys went fishing, the girls went shopping today!

More fun on the 4-wheeler

Looking through yesterday's lake pictures of which I posted VERY few of!

Family photo shoot with that gorgeous background

The close-up.

Using Kara's 5 foot length to measure for corn hole!  :D

I think Ryan and Brad won this game.

After corn hole, Ryan helped Aunt Jessica in the kitchen again!

While helping her, he gives her some recipes, too.  :D

Such a good veggie chopper!

Scrumptious chicken veggie pizza.  The sauce was ranch dressing.  It was YUMMY!!

Ryan found a little scorpion in the woods under a rock!  YIKES!  And then we played hide and seek in the woods and around the house!  Kids against the Adults.  And the winners were........

The "A" team!  Adults rocked it!

The "K" team.  The kids decided it was time to watch TV.

Time for another fire!

Nice moon shot!  Have I mentioned that I LOVE my camera?  :D

And, just because I know you have been humming it since you read the title to this post:

Morning Has Broken (by Cat Stevens YouTube)

Morning has broken, like the first morning
Blackbird has spoken, like the first bird
Praise for the singing, praise for the morning
Praise for them springing fresh from the word

Sweet the rain's new fall, sunlit from heaven
Like the first dew fall, on the first grass
Praise for the sweetness of the wet garden
Sprung in completeness where his feet pass

Mine is the sunlight, mine is the morning
Born of the one light, Eden saw play
Praise with elation, praise every morning
God's re-creation of the new day

Morning has broken, like the first morning
Blackbird has spoken, like the first bird
Praise for the singing, praise for the morning
Praise for them springing fresh from the word

Thank You, Father, for every morning!  AMEN!
