Excerpt: The Pursuit of God, The Human Thirst for the Divine, A.W. Tozer

O God, I have tasted Thy goodness, and it has both satisfied me and made me thirsty for more. I am painfully conscious of my need of further grace. I am ashamed of my lack of desire. O God, The Triune God, I want to want Thee; I long to be filled with longing; I thirst to be made more thirsty still. Show me Thy glory, I pray Thee, that so I may know Thee indeed. Begin in mercy a new work of love within me. Say to my soul, "Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away." Then give me grace to rise and follow Thee up from this misty lowland where I have wondered so long. In Jesus' name. Amen

Faith is the Victory

Faith is the Victory
1 John 5:4 - "For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith."
Hebrews 11:6 -  "But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him."

Encamped along the hills of light,
Ye Christian soldiers, rise,
And press the battle ere the night
Shall veil the glowing skies.
Against the foe in vales below,
Let all our strength be hurled;
Faith is the victory, we know,
That overcomes the world.

Refrain:
Faith is is the victory!
Faith is is the victory!
Oh, glorious victory,
That overcomes the world.

His banner over us is love,
Our sword the Word of God;
We tread the road the saints above
With shouts of triumph trod.
By faith they, like a whirlwind's breath,
Swept on o'er ev'ry field;
The faith by which they conquered death
Is still our shining shield.

On ev'ry hand the foe we find
Drawn up in dread array;
Let tents of ease be left behind,
And onward to the fray;
Salvation's helmet on each head,
With truth all girt about,
The earth shall tremble 'neath our tread,
And echo with our shout.

To him that overcomes the foe,
White raiment shall be giv'n;
Before the angels he shall know
His name confessed in heav'n.
Then onward from the hills of light,
Our hearts with love aflame,
We'll vanquish all the hosts of night,
In Jesus' conqu'ring name.

No matter what battle we fight in this life, Faith in God is our victory!
The battle may be with our soul's enemy, Satan.  Faith is the victory!
The battle may be a sin that so easily besets us.  Faith is the victory!
The battle may be sickness of the body.  Faith is the victory!
Faith in God gives us the strength to endure the battles of life.
Faith in God gives us the strength to conquer our enemy.
Faith in God gives us a way out of the temptation that would like to grip us.
Faith in God gives us a final, eternal resting place for our diseased bodies.
And it is a glorious victory!  Oh, how I long for that heavenly victory!

Today Tim has had problems with his stomach being upset.  He went to Sunday School, but came home afterwards.  I gave him some Pepto, put a bucket by the bed, left his phone on the night stand and took my phone back to church in case he needed me and called.

When I got home from church, I just let him sleep.  I laid down on the couch to rest, too.  He woke up at 1:45 hungry and no longer had a stomach ache.  I fixed pork chops and mixed veggies.  He ate about half of it.  Then he wanted to eat a trail mix bar and go back to bed.  I think the activities of the last several days have worn him out.  I will make sure he gets plenty of rest this week!   Our oldest adult child is coming for a visit next weekend!

Tim woke up from his second nap around 4:45, got dressed for church and sat down in his recliner to check his email, etc.  After church Michael and Jessica called to wish him Happy Father's Day.  After he talked with them, he said, "Sweetie, we sure have some good kids!"  I have to agree.  Thank You, Lord!  Now he is watching some TV.  I'm glad he is feeling better!  He ate some fruit after church tonight.  Probably by 9 or 9:30 he will be ready for bed, if not sooner.

While he was checking his email before church, I sat under the carport to see if I could capture any new birds!  I did see the nuthatcher again.  And there is a flock of brown birds with short wings and tail that I have looked the internet high and low to find out what they are.  I haven't gotten a clear picture of them, only on video that was too long to post here.  But, I'll keep working on it.
Making the announcements, etc, before Bobby preaches tonight from Ephesians 1.  Excellent message about the sovereignty of God!

I forgot to show you my other bargains from thrifting while Nat was here.  $0.50 for the 2 rolls of Tim Holtz washi tape ($8.95 sticker on package) and $0.25 for the leaf stamp ($6.40 sticker on the side of the stamp)!  CHA-CHING!

Warm day, but a nice breeze was blowing as you can see the backs of the leaves in the picture.

Bluebird on the normal perch.

These guys crack me up the way they strut around.  But I'm thinking it is time to buy an owl to scare them off so the other birds have a chance to eat at the feeders!

Can you see the nuthatch on the tree?  I didn't zoom in quite close enough because I was afraid I would miss him.  Sure enough, he was gone before I could snap another picture.

These mourning doves, when they find a place under the feeder with lots of seeds, they make themselves comfortable by lying on the ground while they feed.....or at least it looks that way!

I'm surprised this blackbird could sit on that skinny branch in the top of the maple tree as big as he is.
Thank You, Lord, for being Sovereign in our lives!  What a great and awesome God we serve!  The one, true God!  Mighty in power and wisdom!

Father God, I know I am not worthy of myself to even approach Your throne for I am a sinful creature.  Forgive me of every sin of commission and omission that would hinder my prayer from being answered.  Help thou my unbelief that causes sin to reign in my life!  Thank you for loving me.  Because it is only through that love You have for me that I can love You. I come through the precious blood of Jesus and in Jesus' precious name!

Thank You, Lord, for another day of blessings!  It was good to be in Your house with Your people today!  Bless each of the father's in a special way, especially as they follow You.  Be with Tom in the hospital and guide the doctors as they treat his pneumonia.  Take care of Dorothy as she takes care of Tom.  Bless each member of our church in a special way.  Thank you for the unity and harmony we enjoy!  Bring young families to our church, I pray.  May we honor and glorify You in everything we say and do as we preach the gospel and teach Your Word in truth and spirit!  I pray for blessings for our family and friends.  Especially for those who read this blog to know how Tim is doing.  We are so thankful for their prayers for his healing!

Those who have drifted away from You, please draw them back so they can see Your blessings in their lives!  Those who have not bowed the knee to You and confessed their sinfulness and utter helplessness, draw them to Yourself in salvation!  I pray Your will be done in mine and Tim's life!  I pray through the blood of Your dear Son, Jesus Christ!  AMEN!

You do have wonderful children! That doesn't happen by accident, ya know. <3

Happy father's day to Tim. We love him so much. I hope with some rest this week, his stomach and lungs heal.

I hope so, too, sweetie! He got your father's day card, but I'm not sure he thanked Michael for it when he talked to him. His brain still has some disconnects at times. So, I will thank you for him. :D Love you all!
