For those of you who DIDN'T grow up then, the slogan, FLOWER POWER probably doesn't mean anything to you. The long and the short of it is that it was a slogan used by those individuals (hippies, aka flower children) who were against the Vietnam war. You can click on the link above to read more about it from Wikipedia, if you wish.
This is my flower power:
I found these big, wooden flowers at the thrift today for $0.99 each! I LOVE them! I put them up as soon as I got home! They pair nicely with my big canvas I made last year (?), don't you think? :D I love flowers, I just can't grow them! But, flowers do have some sort of power over people. I love taking pictures of them and looking at them, but the weird thing about them is that I don't want Tim to waste money on them buying them for me. I don't care about them that much, I guess. LOL! Take me out to dinner instead! Anyway.....
And, if you clicked on the link to read about Flower Power, are you wondering if I was a Flower Child? The answer is NO for a couple of reasons. #1, I would NOT have been "allowed" to be a flower child since I was still living at home. I didn't even get to wear pants (bell bottoms) to school until I was in the 10th grade (mom was pretty strict). And those were hand-me-downs from Joey, believe it or not! :D #2, I really didn't (and still don't) know what all of the fuss was about, and was not really interested in and didn't follow all of the protesting going on. I was too young and/or in love and didn't care about anything else but Tim. Remember the "earth shoes?" That was about as "hippie" as I got, LOL, and they weren't even "hippie!" That, the bell bottoms, and my long hair, was about as "in" as I was allowed to be.
The heel was lower than the front of the shoe. |
Tim had "long" hair, which was one of the reasons mom and dad didn't like me going with him. That and the fact that he was not a Christian at first, and then after he was saved, he was not a Baptist. The Lord took care of all of that, didn't He?! :D I have to admit that I LOVED his hair longer, especially when it bleached out in the summertime!

I have on earth shoes in this picture, but you can't see them for the pants. |
Well, enough reminiscing!

Thrifting day! We traveled to Salisbury to eat breakfast at IHOP and then took some stuff to Liz's house. Then we went to a Goodwill in her neck of the woods before we went to one in Concord and 2 in Kannapolis and then one in Cornelia before we headed back home around 1:45. We went to Olive Garden for supper. Here are some pictures I took today:
Cloud cover as we headed to Salisbury at 8:30 a.m. |
Waiting on our food at IHOP |
My usual breakfast egg sandwich with bacon, lettuce, tomato and mayo. Holds me over better than pancakes, which fill me up quickly, but don't stay with me for very long! |
Some of the clouds moved out enough to give us warmer temperatures than was expected. |
These were taken after we got back home late this afternoon. I took my camera outside to play. :D
Another picture of the dead tree in the back yard. The center is hollow and seems to be falling away from the live portions of the tree. |
I really zoomed in to get a picture of this mockingbird. See him peeking? Too bad the main branch of the bush was in the way. |
But, his curiosity of me got the best of him. |
I was sitting on the porch in the front of the house and this bird was in the tree out front, but it was looking the wrong way for me to get a good picture and he flew away quickly. |
So, the choice of photo prompts today from my 4 different lists were as follows:
1. Pattern
2. Above
3. Scary
4. Light
The first 2 pictures of the clouds from above were intended for my "Above" photo prompt. However, when I saw the moon after we got home and I was playing with the camera outside, THESE (I cannot choose a favorite) represent my "Above" photo prompt for the day!
Zoomed in somewhat |
The camera focused on the clouds. |
I'm thinking this one might be my favorite |
or this one. Which one do you like best (not counting the top one)? Give me a 1-6 choice. #6 being this last one. |

I love your camera too! Your pictures are so fun. I love the last moon one.
I have heard of flower power, but it doesn't mean much to me. My parents, like you, grew up in strict, conservative homes (not Christian though). That whole movement never touched us.
Exactly!
THAT is some CRAZY zoom!!!! I LOVE it!!!
60X, Stephanie! I'm all about that zoom, about that zoom! LOL!
